Audio: Glenn Beck loses it, and justifiably so

If you haven’t seen it yet, you’ll hear about it eventually:
Yes, he flips. Now, this is Glenn Beck, and we’ve come to know him as someone who does not reign in his emotions. He responds without concern about what others think. This is a turn-off to some who think it reflects poorly on his public image and tarnishes the power of the points he makes. Others admire his unabashed openness. I understand both perspectives, but lean more toward the latter. That aside, may I point out a few things?
The woman came on with an attitude from the beginning. She was not looking to have a civil discussion with Beck. She was goading him seconds into the call. Referring to “people like you” before her first point was made was asking for a fight. She accused him of having no logic, and asked “what the hell is wrong with you?” She shifted between fifth gear and reverse to try to manipulate the conversation. The topper, though, was after all of this baiting and prodding, she had the audacity to accuse him of never addressing the bailouts and spending of late, when it’s been his most discussed topic, as anyone who ever listened to his radio show or watched his television show for 15 minutes would know.
Then again, one reproduced link of this clip on YouTube actually stopped the audio right before discussing the situation in Massachusetts, and simply put up text which said “F*** what happened in Massachusetts”. That kind of refusal to address the reality of health care shows that many of these people aren’t even worth engaging. You’d be better off telling a spoiled child why they can’t have whatever they want.
However, I have to admit, this is pretty funny:

It’s ridiculous for the UHC clowns to hold up other the glorious health care systems of other nations. For one thing, it’s a matter of scale. For another, those other nations don’t have the (unsustainable) Welfare-Warfare state we have.

That doesn’t mean they do it in a proper manner. And don’t think that just because i throw out a thought contrary to the conventional wisdom here I a) agree with it entirely or b) actually care at all about the issue.
Yes, if someone like Ed or Allah or whoever takes an argumentative angle I find wanting, i’ll bring it up…even if at the end of the day i agree with the overall conclusion. Its the internet man, what fun would it be if everyone agreed and thought the same?

If I had been on the other end of the phone in Beck’s place I would have said something far worse. Stupid is not something I tolerate very well. And she did ask for it. We have created these “ME” monsters who do not want to work, and think the whole world owes them something for just being born. IF things are so swell in France, then why are they setting tires on fire in the streets, kidnapping executives and business owners, and such on a daily basis?
Are we sure this was a woman calling? Sounded to me like she was a Koo-Aid drinking zombie!

I don’t care what anybody else thinks, I like Beck. He’s over the top, but I find it funny.
Today, he opened the show by playing the Boxer clip with the black chamber of commerce guy. As it’s playing, Beck is mugging it up in the corner. It was hilarious.

I happened to listening to the show, but missed that part. In the next segment, he turned it inot a comedy routine with a “hired screamer”. It was actually pretty darn funny.
Today on his show he was mocking Barbara Boxer while eating pudding. I had almost as much fun fun watching it as he did doing it, I think.

Oh ive taken contradictory positions plenty of times here. Its more fun that way…arguing and framing have to be objective exercises if one is to ever excel at them. There is no HA approved conventional wisdom; if you took the time to read any Palin thread you would know that.
In fact, the first run of comments on this very thread manage to get both supporters and detractors of Beck, but right on cue, you wade-in to opine not on Beck but on “conservative media people” in general and their “juvenile behavior”.
It seems your only reason you really show up is to stir the pot and hope you hook a reaction from a few people.

Meh. Glenn Beck is a back bencher, and he has a heck of a time finding an original thought/ and or argument of his own. This clip is just one example out of many where Beck bites off of Levin’s style, and Levin calls him out on it almost daily. This particular one actually sounds like a hybrid of Levin and O’reilly’s shtick, he just replaced Mark’s use of the word “dope” with Bill’s “pinhead.” Whatta loser.

Yeah you never took debate? I always found it interesting to have to frame an argument that contradicts what you really believe or what you just got done arguing.
Of course I come here to stir the pot a bit, but im often genuinely interested in the responses i get. It depends on the post. If its lighthearted fare like this i’ll be less logical and more pot stirring…but on posts that deal with more serious policy issues i do glean lots from the responses i get.
and remember, first and foremost im here because the dailykos/huffpo sites are freaking atrocious…theres no useful tidbits to glean from those commenters.

This woman was a typical seminar caller who was reading off a talking points sheet provided her by some liberal group. Beck knew it from the start. That’s why he blasted her. Limbaugh would have blasted her. Hannity would have blasted her. Mark Levin would have ripped her heart out.

Beck is what he is. He isn’t stealing anyone’s schtick. Levin doesn’t have the stamina to maintain the high level of intensity Beck has (he has heart problems) and O’reilly…meh.

Yeah, except by the time Levin has gotten to that point he has already excoriated the caller in a calm but often mean-spirited fashion. Levin is proof against that “tantrums are for kidz lolz” argument, since Levin rarely raises his voice anywhere near Beck does but he can get downright vicious to people while sounding perfectly reasonable.

I presume we’re ignoring Coulter, but i guess one could make the case to lump her in. Limbaugh is more thoughtful, but again he can still get mean and personal and often delves into hyperbole…but no, they don’t all go on batsh*t insane tirades. thats not saying much though, as what Beck was doing there was a lot more than just “active juvenile”.
