Video: Witness rips Boxer for racial condescension
posted at 12:57 pm on July 16, 2009 by Ed Morrissey
Red meat by the slab, folks! Barbara Boxer wound up getting reamed by Harry Alford, the chair of the National Black Chamber of Commerce, after attempting to challenge his testimony on energy policy. When Boxer started waving position papers from the NAACP and the 100 Black Men of Atlanta, Alford called it a “condescending” attack and complained about Boxer’s focus on black people rather than science:
I just love it when white politicians set themselves up as arbiters of racial authenticity, especially when they try to scold minorities for drifting off the political reservation. It belies a “soft” bigotry, if you will, when Barbara Boxer assumes all black people think the same and hold the same opinions — or even worse, that they should.
Update: Duane “Generalissimo” Patterson says California has reclaimed the crown.

She proves once again that the liberals idea of diversity is skin deep. They don’t tolerate anything remotely close to diversity of opinion.

Excellent Job, Mr. Alford!! I wish you had more time to talk.
Better watch your back now.
Please keep up the great work, we have to stop these ninnies, they are going to destroy what’s left of the economy, then our infrastructure, then…..

LMAO. Few people on this earth need a serious bitch-slapping like this nasty little JAP does. She thinks he’s stupid because he’s black, and she needs to help him understand that “the other blacks are onboard with my enviro-silliness”.
Having said that, did no one else luxuriate in the delicious irony of a guy from the “Black Chamber of Commerce” scolding Boxer for “being racial” in her condescension to him about “other black groups”?
It was bizarro-world.
Jaibones on July 16, 2009 at 1:26 PM
My God these leftist elitists are a bunch of knuckle-dragging bigots. How can anyone watch that and not see the white sheet falling down around Barbara Boxer’s shoulders? What a despicable racist she is. It’s horrifying. It really is. She sees not one ounce of individual humanity among back people. They aren’t human beings to her; they are just “the NAACP” and a whole bunch of votes. She is an awful, evil, blatant, unapologetic racist. Like I said in another post here today, someday (I hope), blacks in this country are going to say they’ve had enough with the democrat party’s minstrel show at election time. My God, just look how they treat someone who doesn’t play along, slap his knee, and clap at all the right moments. Pure evil.
Rational Thought on July 16, 2009 at 1:26 PM
The 5:40 mark says it all:
Your veteran status has nothing to do with this conversation, but race is everything…as long as you stay on the plantation.
I said it before, and I’ll say it again. Boxer puts the root-word sound in country!
Laura in Maryland on July 16, 2009 at 1:26 PM

It’s all about the political agenda. Note the introduction of the PEW report on “green” jobs and not any of the reports showing a net job loss from destroying the oil and coal industries in deference to “green” energy.
genso on July 16, 2009 at 1:27 PM
I understand full well how everyone has this impression. For the most part, it is true. But we also, believe it or not, have some pretty solid conservatives out here. Tom McClintock, John Campbell, Darrel Issa to name a few.
To paraphrase Mark Steyn, most blue states are really red states with a few big, urban areas that vote blue. San Diego County, Orange County, Inland Empire, Central California and the far northern part of the state are all pretty conservative areas. We are, unfortunately, outnumbered by the idiots in L.A. and the Bay Area.
JohnInCA on July 16, 2009 at 1:28 PM
Exactly. Individualism is going to be classified a hate-crime soon enough. And I’m not joking, unfortunately.

It’s amazing she kept on the racial lines of trying to explain her blatant racism.
“I’m married to a vet”… nothing to do with the claim of racism Alford made.
What a moronic, myopic, vapid dunce Boxer is.

Senator Racebaiter
Got what she deserved…and deserved even more.
Incredibly condescending and very racist.
“Well, look here boy…see these other black folk?…They support it…sho nuff!…why don’t you?…What’s you problem Willis?”
Thats the gist of what she was trying to do. and Senator See You Next Tuesday got called on it as she well deserved.

TinMan13 on July 16, 2009 at 1:34 PM
What really gets me about this is she doesn’t even seem to realize what she’s done. It’s so inconceivable that she could be a racist – she’s a Democrat.
No, she’s doing the usual politician thing and totally ignoring everything that he is saying to her. If he had been a liberal black, she would have done the same thing, because he is just one of the little people who don’t know anything and thank God, don’t live next to her!
flytier on July 16, 2009 at 1:34 PM
I noticed, it was funny. I thought he would have been a little more pointed in his criticism. He was clearly agitated but a little too much to make the point that Boxer needed to site another black group to delegitimize his race. Don’t want black people thinking domestic oil production is a good thing! We have to use the N AA CP to make sure black people know how they are supposed to think.

Why do blacks let white feminists keep them on the plantation, and use Planned Parenthood to exterminate their race? Like the Nazi gas chambers only spread out over decades rather than years.
Fools.
Sapwolf on July 16, 2009 at 1:35 PM
Let’s not forget that the whole point of all the political findings and resolutions has been to target the young and least educated people in America to throw their political support behind fraudulent science – so rich white liberal men can launch a global financial scam targeting the poor with the least power.
Those disadvantaged groups are about to become slaves to the new environmental nazis and carbon bankers. So Boxer is just naturally using racism as she tries to herd a rogue group of serfs she sees as thinking beyond their pay grade. This guy is supposed to obey his master and fall in line behind the global plantation’s “settled brainwashing.”

peacenprosperity on July 16, 2009 at 1:37 PM
Thanks, Ed! It was great to see Alford put Boxer in her place. It was especially gratifying to watch Boxer, who worked really hard for her “Senator” title when a white general called her “Ma’am,” be afraid to point out to Alford, the chair of the Black Chamber of commerce, that she worked hard for her “senator,” title after he repeatedly called her “Ma’am.” Soo cool. Not only did Alford see right through her transparent condescension, he called her on it. Bravo.
Of course, that the pew trust was supported by Exxon makes it pure evil.
She is “trying to build support” for brainless climate change hogwash. I’m surprised she didn’t claim that her veteran husband was also African American. I bet the MSM wouldn’t have given two minutes to research that. God bless her husband for serving our country, and for having to live with that shrew.
kscheuller on July 16, 2009 at 1:37 PM
Because she knows she can’t destroy his career if he doesn’t toe the line. That’s because she’s a petty, no talent, bully. She also knows that he would just tell her to kiss his black ass.
She also reveals how deep the racism is in the Democrat party. They fully accept the notion that whites can take any political position they want, but blacks must fall in line behind the left; lest they be labelled race traitors, Uncle Toms, fools or worse. It doesn’t get more racist than that.
She was just trying to pull a stray Negro back on the Plantation.
If a racist and extortionist like Al Sharpton was there, she would be fawning all over him; even though he’s incited the murders of eight people, so far. Al is a good little colored boy who sells out his own people for scraps from the table.

29Victor on July 16, 2009 at 1:53 PM
These groups identified and threw their lot in with Obama. But Obama is not working out as these groups thought. They identified with Obama because of his skin color not his policies, in fact they had no idea what his policies would look like. Now they have had a chance to see those policies in action, all leftist, corrupt, and in cahoots with Wall Street. Apart from ACORN and the Unions(which is ideological not ethnic) I think he’s been unable to pay them off fast enough.
Have you seen the unemployment numbers for Blacks and Hispanics? They are off the chart. Obama is failing on a number of fronts and I think these groups sense that when the tide turns it will turn not only against Obama but against them too.
Have you noticed how shrill the committed leftists are recently? They have complete control over all aspects of government and they are more shrill today than ever. The divisiveness is palpable. That may be playing into it.
Something is happening. What it is I don’t know but its not good for Obama and his leftists. Or the country.
elduende on July 16, 2009 at 1:55 PM

And it was a Maam that got the general in trouble. I think she didn’t bring it up because part of it is that she hates the military and revels in the fact that, as Senator, they have to show a b*tch like her respect she isn’t due. In short, it wasn’t about titles so much as the humiliation of a senior military officer. Plays well back home.
highhopes on July 16, 2009 at 2:02 PM
Indeed, he did. Every once in a while, he does something very uncharacteristic. A couple of years ago, the usual suspects were calling a local judge racist and he went to bat for her on the radio and in the newspaper.
And I will never forget the weekend before the 2000 election, when he said that he was with his family and he mentioned that the election was close and Bush might win. He said that his relatives began yelling at him and attacking him personally. He asked why attack the messenger and why not look at things the way they are, i.e., that Bush might win. Then people started calling him up and screaming at him for saying it. It was hilarious.

She may have been married to a veteran, but was she ever an Army wife?
What point was she trying to make? She obviously missed it with Mr. Alford.

Boxer: You black people need to be victims and complainers, so that you always vote for us to bail you out.
Alford: I’m from the Black Chamber of Commerce, and we like to make money the old-fashioned way, by earning it. Anything wrong with that?
This is so typical of Democrat condescension toward black people. But they may get a rude surprise from the next generation. I tutor high school math and science students part time, but usually the demand slacks off in summer. Except for a black woman who pays me to tutor her daughter in algebra over the summer, to prepare her for a private high school next fall. I wonder what SHE would tell Senator Boxer…
Steve Z on July 16, 2009 at 2:05 PM
Because they know that their ideas are so antithetical to American values that they need some sort of distractions as they try and work their treasonous magic. They vacillate between shrill screaming that their ideas are the best and surreptitious passage of 1000 page bills that no one is allowed to examine before the vote. They think that if they can just get their idiotic laws enacted as facts on the ground, then America will just be resigned to a future of tribalistic servitude without any opposition.
This is going to be very bloody, because once the left has let the mask slip, it is clear that they must be dealt with, not just thrown out of office. The left are hoping that the burning cities will distract people from their culpability and how they knowingly forced this nation to the brink, but they are wrong. They are all singing their own arrest warrants …. and that’s if they are lucky. Many will not be satisfied with simple arrest of these traitors. They are a standing threat.
