Video: Witness rips Boxer for racial condescension

posted at 12:57 pm on July 16, 2009 by Ed Morrissey

Red meat by the slab, folks! Barbara Boxer wound up getting reamed by Harry Alford, the chair of the National Black Chamber of Commerce, after attempting to challenge his testimony on energy policy. When Boxer started waving position papers from the NAACP and the 100 Black Men of Atlanta, Alford called it a “condescending” attack and complained about Boxer’s focus on black people rather than science:

I just love it when white politicians set themselves up as arbiters of racial authenticity, especially when they try to scold minorities for drifting off the political reservation. It belies a “soft” bigotry, if you will, when Barbara Boxer assumes all black people think the same and hold the same opinions — or even worse, that they should.

Update: Duane “Generalissimo” Patterson says California has reclaimed the crown.

“Sir, if you were my husband, I would poison your drink.”
-Lady Astor to Winston Churchill Sen. – Barbara Boxer (D-Calif.)

“Madam, if you were my wife, I would drink it.”
– Winston Churchill’s – Harry C. Alford’s reply

Barbara Boxer is a dumb white woman for saying that. If she were latina, therefore a wise latina, she would know not to say that. Or, if she were a wise latina instead of a dumb white woman, her comment would have been correct. Boy, I’m confused.

“because she says she is “going to continue to add documents to the record to show the wide range of support”

Oh my, I missed that the first time I saw it. This is much worse than I thought!

Apparently She had Harry Alford chair of the National Black Chamber of Commerce and not the “other” “NAACP and the 100 Black Men of Atlanta” cuz she only needed onetoken” African American rep. for her dog and pony show.

Me think, and rightly so, Harry Alford realized he was being used as a “prop” for Sen B. Boxer.

Then she tries the big CYA by mentioning her veteran husband “see – I like veterans too”.

“her veteran husband”

Veteran of what? What branch of service did he serve?
In the limited BIO on Stewart Boxer she met and married him in 1962.

He was in College as was she.

There is no mention of ANY military service.
Thee is a LOT mentioned about anti war anti military.

“In her final year of college, at age 21, Barbara Levy married Stewart Boxer, another student, who was then 23. The two moved into a one-room efficiency apartment at the back of a building on Ocean Boulevard, paying $90 a month in rent”

“After graduating from college Boxer sought a job in the New York financial world to support her husband while he completed his law degree at Fordham University”

“In 1965 Boxer moved with her husband to northern California. The couple had been determined to own a house and raise a family, and they felt that real estate was more affordable there than in the New York metropolitan area. While her husband was completing his exams at Fordham,”

Boxer and her husband soon settled in San Francisco, and their second child, a daughter, came into the family in 1967. she and her husband opposed the war in Vietnam, and felt strongly enough about their position to take part in a peace march,

Also in 1967, Boxer and her husband moved to the city suburbs, buying a $40, 000 house in Marin County, north of the city.

In addition, Boxer became involved in the environmental movement as well as in anti-war activities. In 1970 she oversaw publicity for a campaign to put a peace initiative on the ballot, which, surprisingly, carried the day.

Perhaps someone should remind Sen. Boxer of the “Stolen Valor Act

Well his first mistake was calling her “ma’am”. What EVER happened to protocol? (/sarc)

Rightwingguy on July 17, 2009 at 6:56 PM

the ritualistic defamation has begun already.

as i predicted yesterday…

it seems that the watchword the progressive democrat stooges reacting to this man’s brave and dignified protest have latched onto is “ma’am”.

it’s clear that the attitude of the progressive democrats will be the same attitude emmet till was murdered with. – “that ni**er failed to show this white woman the proper respect!”

and lynch him, they will. stay tuned. tomorrow, dailykos, thinkprogress, tpm, du, bradblog, digney, et al will be headlining any scrap of dirt they can dig up about him.

And did you also catch the bit about the evil oil companies helping to fund the CRA report?? So on the one hand she tries to pit his testimony against other black groups to undermine him in a “see, my black guys disagree with your black guys” argument (as Alford said, it was Gawd-awful) and then tried to insinuate that he was aligned with Evil Oil and thus suspect entirely. She’s scum, I’m sorry she “represents” California.
