Mindset? Mind? Mind control? Mind altering? Don’t mind at all. Do you mind? Mind your business? A mind is a terrible thing to waste?

This Nation lost its mind back in November…well, at least half of it did. Now they are driving the sane ones, us, out of our minds.

That’s the new mindset.

The Opinionator on July 16, 2009 at 10:38 PM

I drafted this comment before I read misslizzi’s comment and when I renewed there the magic word was: “cadence”. Very interesting.

Huh – His cadences are sounding more and more like Jeremiah Wright all the time.

As to the content, mostly good stuff. Would to God (literally) that he practiced what he’s preaching re: government programs not being the savior. Once again, in spite of the lofty wording, it’s just a schmuck delivering it.

Ampersand on July 16, 2009 at 10:45 PM

A few things…

First of all, he places blame on the white man again. He says it’s the discrimination from decades ago that leave today’s generations not being expected to do much.

Second, does he not realize that the policies he supports help push that low expectation? Affirmative action makes the assumption that black or minority Americans can’t compete effectively against white counterparts without the government’s interference. He supports racism himself. Racism isn’t always malignant to the minority.

Finally, this is a guy looking to expand entitlements, nationalize industries, socialize our healthcare system, raise taxes across the board, and provide amnesty for illegal aliens. I don’t want to hear from him about personal responsibility.

amerpundit on July 16, 2009 at 10:47 PM

Mark my words, one day Obambi will advocate mandatory community service, and the audience to whom he speaks in this video will laud it – completely willfully ignorant of the fact that some of their ancestors were similarly pressed into “mandatory” service.

They need to get a job, that’s it, just like the rest of tax paying idiots! It is coming down to blood and bullets, they way they did it 234 years ago. I am afraid that any thing less is just going to delay things a few years. We have invited the culture of liberalism and socialism in and allowed it to thrive because some believed that the Constitution allows for freedom of speech and religion – sorry, I don’t believe that it means we should lay down and be defeated from within. The people we are striving to take back the country from are just as dangerous to the America of years ago as any KGB or SS that we have fought in the past. I don’t mean harm to Lib/Commie/Greenies, just OCB (Other Countries Beckon!).

rgranger on July 16, 2009 at 10:49 PM

…new mindset? Howse ’bout returning to the pre-Great Society black American mindset, which maintained that black children will be educated, if only to beat white America at its own game.

Today, the “mindset” abroad today is racially suicidal, awash in self-pity justifying blind rage, a sense of entitlement, and waiting for someone else to provide that entitlement, leading folks to find feel-good solutions to real-world problems, and to follow the feel-good hot-air pronouncements of that old fixture of the urban black community: the pimp.

(…and, to be clear, I don’t use that word in a “good” way….)

In Thomas Sowell’s excellent, excellent book “Black Rednecks, White Liberals”, he points out that West Indian blacks have as long and as bitter a history of slavery, bigotry and oppression as do Mr. Obama’s people…or, well, than Ms. Obama’s people, as Mr. Obama’s people were never slaves in America or subject to Jim Crow laws, being as they were in Kenya during the bad old days…anyway, Mr. Sowell points out that Jamaicans, Trinidadians, etc., all show up ready to work, devour education, and achieve. Whassup with that?

I recommend the book as a primer on just how full of crap the NAACP is.

New mindset? Bosh. Lose the mindset put about by pimps like Mr. Obama and the grievance mongers at the NAACP and return to the mindset that valued family, education and not letting the bastards get you down….

Boy the weirdest thing just happen, I thought that video caption said the following ” We need a New President”

TimeTraveler on July 16, 2009 at 10:53 PM

What on earth would you expect, O’Bonehead?

You liberals tell black kids every day that they are stupid, lazy, irresponsible, violent, decadent, immoral, and incapable of competing intellectually with Whites, Hispanics and Asians. That is the basic message of liberalism. You aren’t good enough, you aren’t smart enough, and gosh darnit, everyone hates you.

That was the message in voting for an inexperienced twit like you for President. That was the message to Americans of Hispanic heritage in keeping Miguel Estrada off the appeals court, and for appointing this inferior intellect Sotomayor and then defending her racist associations and statements. That is the message in standing behind the corrupt and appointing talentless hacks because they are the right color. Your entire administration stands in stark contrast to your speech.

Putz.

battleoflepanto1571 on July 16, 2009 at 10:57 PM

I’d like to say it was a great 1:37 minutes of a speech. It really is. Barack Obama has the power and the charisma to rescue blacks from the disastrous track they have embraced and actively work to perpetuate. He — possibly alone — has the ability to speak to these issues without being labeled as a racist or a bigot by the race merchants in the nation.

The cruel irony is that Barack Obama and liberal paternalism is doing everything humanly possible to keep blacks tied to government and its racist programs.

So, he can talk in whatever cadence he wants and say whatever words he wants, but the actions of his government are designed to enslave an entire race — hell, an entire nation — in exchange for votes.

Until blacks do what the president said in this speech and decide to free themselves from the government and the wicked oppression of the Democrat party, they will subsist in many the same conditions their fore bearers suffered as slaves.

They are right where the Democrats want them and right where that party will keep them. Obama is the ring leader and everybody is too foolish to see it.

Synopsis: He said something about how blacks have internalized what society thinks – that they are worthless (heavily paraphrasing here), and while society might be keeping them down they are as result keeping themselves down. Our kids need to study.

Tell your kids that if they are born in a poor neighborhood, sure it’s going to be a greater challenge than if they lived in a wealthy suburb. Sure there’s going to be more crime and whatnot. But that’s no excuse for not making good grades.

All said in preacher cadence.

Just a little stunted is all. Think of it as “children of all ages.”

Fallen Sparrow on July 16, 2009 at 11:07 PM

Sounds like a lot of you didn’t even watch the vid. He said pretty much the same things Bill Cosby says. Now we’ll see if he gets criticized like Cosby did.

kongzilla on July 16, 2009 at 11:07 PM

He’s an absolute lowlife and needs to be arrested and dragged from the White House before he destroys our nation. That’s really all it comes down to.

progressoverpeace on July 16, 2009 at 10:50 PM

I can’t shake the feeling that this guy is just gunning to be featured on one of those O’Reilly segments on hate-spewing blog commenters. He just can’t possibly be serious.

Back on topic, the speech itself was great. Policies such as Affirmative action should be supplemental to, not a replacement of, personal responsibility. Having our first black president call for more personal responsibility within the black community lends the argument a great deal more credibility than Bill Cosby could ever offer. Powerful stuff.

crr6 on July 16, 2009 at 11:09 PM

Hasn’t Rush been saying the same thing for… decades? Bill Cosby too? D.C. voucher program that Obama killed, started by whitey, but that’s just a distraction.

Is it not the Dim’s promising handouts to create permanent voting blocks?

We’ve had welfare for decades. So how’s that working out?

Good for the Dim’s, as long as the checks keep flowing. Nothing has changed, if the man is holding African American’s down, the man is now Obama.

Irony does have a sense of humor.

The AMA is a Socialist organization that has supported single-payer and abortion on demand for years and years. 2 out of every 10 physicians in Texas belong to the AMA. Almost 100 percent of Texan physicians belong to the Texas Medical Association. Guess which one gets things DONE and legal reform PASSED.

Marcus on July 16, 2009 at 11:06 PM

I’ll take the TMA! :) It just baffles me because Obozo will use the AMA endorsement to his advantage and the idiots that don’t care will believe him.

Aw. Guess I have to stick with blatant after all…

Emily M. on July 16, 2009 at 11:10 PM

Wait, wait…. why did I hear a Southern “Black” accent during the speech? I SWEAR he dropped his “I” on “internalahzed”

…this betrays your own burden of bigotry…evil conservative….

…all the folks in Kenya Indonesia Hawaii Chicago talk like that…why, no less a person than Hilary Clinton lets her Kenyan Indonesian Hawaiian Chicago New York “roots” slip once in a great while….

…it’s a “genuine black” thing….

he and his friends wanting to lead black America over the precipice…nevermind….

Puritan1648 on July 16, 2009 at 11:02 PM

you know i’ve wondered for years why in terms of political affiliation black America is 90+ % democrat when clearly democratic policies have destroyed the black family & economic life. i know that republicans haven’t been boy scouts or anything in terms of image, but what are they gonna do — every condoleeza rice, colin powell, and clarence thomas are punch lines at the appollo instead of being “inspiring” like sotomajorracist. for goodness sakes, condi rice speaks like 6 languages, was president of STANFORD, was head of the NSA for crying out loud… a brilliant woman. justice thomas’ daddy was a dirt poor sharecropper, and thomas was going to be a priest until he heard white students laughing about MLK the day MLK was shot….

….and yet they are “house N******” to 90% of the black community.

Meanwhile, detroit is officially dead, the congressional black caucus is insular and pork-minded, and “ELECTIONS” are nothing more than “RACE BAITING TIME”

I used to live in arkansas, and i distinctly remember the 2000 election, when the Gore campaign would go from predominantly black church to black church, telling parishoners that Bush would bring back an America that would be like slavery. SLAVERY. a congressman from that part of the state met the same fate a few years later, with the DC dems coming down and making announcements in the black churches that the gop congressman was racist blah blah blah….

….and it worked.

I just dont get it, even with the supposed “BIGOTED ANTI-IMMIGRANT GOP” (funny the media forgets ‘illegal’), Bush had 40% of the Hispanic vote, and McCain (vs. a ‘person of color’ to use the racist dem language) still got about 30% of Hispanics.

And yet, year in, year out, it’s 90+ democratic from black america. What gives? How can it be changed? JC Watts used to be called a “token”, Michael Steele is a “sellout”, former RNC Chair ken melhman basically got on his knees at the NAACP meeting and cried for forgiveness — and for what? Another round of Kanye WEsts and their bold new racialized thinking?

Sorry to vent, and I know on the internet we’re all colorblind, I’m not trying to offend, I just dont get a) how the gop can break into the dent of AA voting dem, and b) WHY the democratic vote is such a powerful draw for black america when everything from public housing to welfare have destroyed the lives of poorer blacks (and ’social dem’ policies have kiilled the cities, hurting the livelihoods of urban blacks)

EXCEPT FOR THE FACT THAT HE DOESN”T F#@KING MEAN IT. my word you are an ignoramous. Look at the outcomes of the policies.

It is enslavement pure and simple started by L.B. Johnson, just another democrat racist…

I posted this in the other thread but Levin said that the AMA endorced BarryCare WITHOUT READING THE BILL.

Txtag92, I remind you that at the height of the Era of Lewinsky, the AMA’s biggest concern was whether “oral sex” was “sex”. They of course decided it was more important than cancer or heart disease or AIDS and had a well publicized study that shockingly, it was not. The head of the AMA was on every MSM talk show to explain — and was booted out later.
