he missed his calling…he should’ve gone into business with Mr. Madoff….

Puritan1648 on July 16, 2009 at 11:21 PM

Madoff could only have hoped he could have been as much a con man as Obama. His ponzi scheme was just a drop in the bucket compared to Obama’s.

Thanks Chaz706 but…ladyingray on July 16, 2009 at 10:35 PM said about everything I said in 5% of the words. The One and I have too much education. But I am deeply grateful for it and for being a small part of the greatest nation on earth. If we could only keep it that way….

Then quit blaming Bush.

Greatest speaker ever screaming “GIVE UP ON YA ED-JA-CATION AND DROP OUTTA SCHOOL” like he grew up in Dothan, Alabama.

Must be that “Jakarta” accent I’m hearing

Man, the things liberals get away with…..

battleoflepanto1571 on July 17, 2009 at 1:52 AM

Man, that fiery speaker should be a preacher or a community organizer or something. Just not the President of the United States of America….

Mallard T. Drake on July 17, 2009 at 2:18 AM

douche.

I_C on July 16, 2009 at 10:32 PM

That word sums up my feelings towards Barry, perfectly. I cringe watching him pretend he’s some MLK with that preacher cadence. Listening to him spew forth advice to a community his party has coerced into professional victimhood and lethargy with handouts and topped by affirmative action is actually offensive to watch.

Does anybody else sort of get the feeling this guy becomes whomever he thinks his audience wants him to be?

MayBee on July 17, 2009 at 2:39 AM

yeah yeah yeah blah blah blah

In one ear and right out the other Mr. Prez.

Just keep giving so-called ‘minorities’ the free stuff and preferential treatment based on no more than their race and the ability to place an ‘X’ on the dotted line. Call it ‘Affirmitive Action’ or whatever you want to.

Putting Sotomayor on the Supreme Court of the U.S. for life is a great start in that direction in Obama’s new administration so that the legacy of the Great White Guilt Trip may continue on unabated.

When he starts putting the money where his mouth is and the Obama Administration does away with race based preferential treatment in all aspects of America society, then it will mean more than the dead air his voice travels across to reach our ears.

Period.

SilverStar830 on July 17, 2009 at 2:49 AM

He’s a blank slate. Write on him what you will.

MayBee on July 17, 2009 at 2:39 AM

Probably only those of us who watched the perpetual campaigning and are capable of processing thought. Outside of that segment of the population I doubt you’ll find many who fit your criteria. He even rushed out and got hisself a White Sox jacket so the folks Tuesday night knew he’s down with the baseball. Never bothered learning how to throw, just how to look the part. Barrack Hussein Obrawndo…he’s got electrolytes!

Tom_OC on July 17, 2009 at 3:00 AM

I can’t watch. I leave the task to people with stronger
stomaches. I salute you!!! I am not being sarcastic.
I gave up on him way, way before the election and simply can’t cope with either his idiotic speeches (hissing his the esses, maybe that’s the viper in him), nor his back and forth bobbling between teleprompters screens.) He does drone on and on. The only merit I can give him (and this is a stretch in any sort of “gold-star” admiration.) And that is, he DOES have a talent for stating one thing, sometimes with great emphasis, and then saying the complete opposite in one sentence. It’s a gift.

So, I say, thank-you, thank-you, for forging through anytime
you can watch and withstand this lying, narcisisstic nincompoop, distaster of a “president”, ’cause I can’t do it.
More power to you.

Oh, wait. It’s that guy who grew up in Hawaii and Indonesia.

Nice accent, Obama. You am in no way’s tired. (See: Hillary; Accent; affectation.)

BuckeyeSam on July 17, 2009 at 6:03 AM

I might be out of touch with most of HA on this one, but I thought it was brilliant two minute clip.

What I understood from this clip was that change has to come from within, and requires the active participation of parents. Government programs alone cannot reform or improve minority communities.

Yes, if you are African American, or a live in a poor urban setting, you are likely to face more obstacles and challenges than an individual growing up in a wealthy suburb. However, that does not provide you with an excuse to give up on yourself.

You control your own destiny.

-I know who this is coming from, but how can I hate this message? He did not argue for more affirmative action, or handouts, he placed the responsibility on the individual.

Obama knows he has to sound like a conservative because his polling has been falling through the floor. Whenever he wants his ratings to improve, he talks like a conservative. ie: tax cuts, personal responsibility. This shows us that conservatism is the road back to DC.

El_Terrible on July 17, 2009 at 6:17 AM

And sure enough, its the headline at Yahoo.com
“Obama has tough-love message for African-Americans”

And the third sentence in the article reads,

he urged blacks to take greater responsibility for themselves and move away from reliance on government programs.

Expect his polling to improve now that he’s a ‘conservative.’

Our job is to expose him for who he truly is. Otherwise, he’s going to keep getting away with these conservative speeches about fiscal discipline, tax cuts, and cutting the deficit.

El_Terrible on July 17, 2009 at 6:26 AM

“No one has written you’re destiny for you.”-Barack Obama

Cap and Trade, TARP, bailouts, government “health care” CAFE legislation; Mr. President, I beg to freakin’ differ.

Wow, you’re still getting suckered by Obama, aren’t you! This person got elected by telling the most outrageous lies to his people, lies that were so incredible that only truly ignorant people would believe them. Obama knows how ignorant the bulk of his constituency is, and shows terribly contempt for them by the lies he tells. Now that he’s in office, the scorn continues, bankrupting the economy while throwing entitlements in front of people.
Only Obama would have the nerve to then get up and lecture them about self-reliance, as if he hadn’t been the one robbing them of reliance in the first place.

RWExtremist on July 17, 2009 at 7:24 AM

Whose speaches has he been studying lately? Did MLK bend down and yell into the microphone? I’m betting he did because microphones in 1965 probably sucked. So barry studies the films and he imitates physical actions made out of necessity. What a baffoon.

For about 4 years now. I hope this isn’t a new realization on your part.

peacenprosperity on July 17, 2009 at 7:28 AM

So, basically what the GOP has been telling black people for decades. Why is it all of the sudden different when a black Dem says it?

Kafir on July 17, 2009 at 7:30 AM

So when is Obama going to release his college grades and class list, plus SAT and LSAT (Law School Admission Test) scores so we see if he had the grades to get him into Harvard? (And while he is at it release the grades he got in Harvard.)
Plus how did he pay for his Harvard education?

And the High School counselors for Michelle told her to forget the idea of going to college. But she got in because her older (smarter and talented) brother was star of the college basketball team.

albill on July 17, 2009 at 7:35 AM

I have to say it’s great to hear him say this to these folks, even though his destructive liberal political philosophies are at odds with these statements.

I can’t think of a better example of how government policy encourages minorities to “internalize limitations” than Affirmative Action.

So it’s lip service, but still, it was well said. Actions do speak louder than words, however.

Dork B. on July 17, 2009 at 7:55 AM

he urged blacks to take greater responsibility for themselves and move away from reliance on government programs

at the same time he continues to promote and push for passage of government programs that foster more and more reliance on government . . .

Kafir on July 17, 2009 at 7:30 AM

My theory is that a black leader who got this right was sadly murdered 40 years ago. Seriously, it would be interesting how things would have developed if James Earl Ray had taken out Jesse Jackson rather than Martin Luther King. Jackson has done more to enslave blacks than anyone in the past 40 years.

Kafir on July 17, 2009 at 9:04 AM

Everything this POS has achieved in life is directly attributable to affirmative action; even his election. The universe of people who believe anything that comes from his waffle-spewing gob is still considerable but shrinking. The only question is can it shrink fast enough to avoid the devastation he is loosing upon us?

SKYFOX on July 17, 2009 at 9:04 AM

I just don’t think this guy is authentic, credible, knowledgeable or truthful. And that’s a sad thing to say about the president, but it’s how I feel about him. I think he’s all talk, loves to hear himself talk, loves the audience. He thinks of himself as a great leader…he’s just not.

scalleywag on July 17, 2009 at 9:15 AM

Both the black and white community know that this is the standard “black responsibility” speech that both groups know mean nothing, but he can point to it later as some kind of showing of moderation to his extreme leftist views.

Very inspiring, however juxtaposed it is against the fact that he is about to strip America of it’s destiny through government programs that will make excellence and hard work unnecessary.

I forget. What did Jackson have to about Obama’s nuts?

BuckeyeSam on July 17, 2009 at 10:57 AM

This is a great speech! I’m giving credit where credit is due. He’s introducing old and great conservative ideas into the NAACP. It’s a good thing.

For eight years, radical liberals in the media mocked and bashed President Bush for every breath and movement he made. Piles of books were written about how supposedly dumb or dangerous he was. Like children, each of these radical liberals possessed no clear personal identity, and thus took to bashing the “other” and kicking and screaming whenever any difficult new ideas came up. Michael Moore and his ilk had their turn in the limelight; none of them will merit even a single sentence in America’s history books. Their time is up.

I refuse to stoop to their level. We conservatives are adults. We do not sulk. I disagree with President Obama on many issues, but this speech is a good speech, and anyone who wallows in victimhood needs to hear it. We conservatives have been trying to communicate this great message of self-reliance for decades. Maybe it’ll reach new people when President Obama says it.

“It’s amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.” – President Harry Truman

dave_lantos on July 17, 2009 at 11:16 AM

I don’t care anymore what he says.
It means nothing in terms of what he really thinks, has done or will do.
He’s just SAYING it.
As for cadence, it’s like listening to a monotone recording of tin cans rattling. There is NO cadence there.
What you hear is an arrogant hectoring con man.
