They -CNN created the environment, she felt safe to behave the way she did. So now they fire their creation? Sure that sounds about right, this is how they keep morale up in the cable news business? Hint: we can tell when the people who work for NBC/MSNBC are unhappy participants same goes with CNN. The Media Bunnies and Peacocks thrive on adulation….people can’t adulate them if they won’t turn in to watch them ;)

When TVNewser asked whether Roesgen’s comments at the Chicago tea party rally had anything to do with her not being renewed, a CNN spokesperson said, “I can’t comment on personnel matters.”

What she couldn't say is, CNN didn't let her go because she was a character assassin. They let her go because she wasn't an effective character assassin. If you're going to be in the character assassination business, you have to be able to do your job competently. Phosgen left too many openings for her mark (and his 18-month-old child) to get the drop on her, thus epic embarrassment for the network: "Buh-bye now, you're no longer assassinating for our team."
