JC Watts likely would have been the first black president but as soon as they saw him taking off he mysteriously received a manila envelope on his desk and he retired abruptly from politics. I guarantee the dnc has some very interesting lindsy grahm photos that they remind him of on a regular basis. They have nothing on Romney or he would have already retired to the golf course, counting his hundreds of millions and living the good life instead of trying to serve his country.

Despite all of that negative information, she is still more popular than either Romney or Huckabee.

Another plus is that everything negative about Palin is already out there and been processed by the electorate.

As we have learned from the Sarah Chronicles, the actual record of accomplishments of a Governorship do not matter.
It is the perception of that record that you can create that really matters.

If people say “Socialist RomneyCare” enough times loudly enough, then the truth will no longer be relevant to the discussion (What ever the truth may be).

If Alaska’s Permanent Fund is socialism, then so is RomneyCare.

I don’t think Palin will be in a position to win in 2012. Romney exudes competence and can talk on his feet. The problem that I suppose I have with him is that his Romneycare in Massachusetts seems like an enormous albatross.

How can the GOP nominate a candidate who pushed to enact a healthcare program in Massachusetts that the GOP would never support as a federal program. To me, it’s akin to nominating a doctor who performs abortions as the candidate. His position on the issue is antithetical to a core GOP position.

This argument by the Gallup folks that Palin received much higher favorable numbers (72) than either Romney (56) or Huckabee (59) based on her being better known is ludicrous. Who has his own TV program on Fox News (Huckabee) and who is being touted by the GOP establishment (Romney) as ‘the next one’ and is a steady presence on the 24/7 cable networks?

I agree. How can republicans never have heard of Romney? Impossible. Huckabee has his own TV show on Fox and the Romney’s have been in politics for 5 decades.

Funny how the Mittards are refering to Rush’s last minute attempt to stop McCain from getting the nomination as an “endorsement” of Romney for 2012.

Anyone who listens to Rush nowadays know that he is far more supportive of Palin than anyone else in the GOP.

Considering all the bashing on Palin (by both sides) 5 points is small potatoes.

We need to focus on 2010. She will turn the tide. I hope Romney rolls up his sleeves and fights for us.

I don’t want to vote for a semi conservative to defeat a liberal. I’ll vote for Fred Thompson, Sanford (unlikely), or Tom Mcclintock.

Or SOMEONE. Anyone other than the current frontrunners.

Sarah has the core energy we need to pull us out of our complacency and resignation.

I live in MA and hate the universal care Mitt Romney left us with, but I also realize that it was the democrats that screwed it up to something horrendous. This state is a mini current day Washington D.C. All spending and no reality.

This is why I keep my sights on the person that I think has the knowledge and ability to undo the damage. I think Mitt Romney has this ability given his background. I may not agree with everything he says and does, but I do think he is patriotic and can bring us back to fiscal responsibility and the basics, with what I know about him.

On the next hand, Sarah Palin has the instincts and understanding to do the grass roots digging and planting even if that means not running for POTUS or any other office.

If it means turning this country around, back to what the Founding Fathers desired, then Mitt Romney or Sarah Palin has my vote. I just wish is was today rather than 3.5 years from now…

My prediction is that he will sneak in as the nominee as people bicker about Romney and Palin, just like how McCain got past Romney and Thompson.

Last go round, I think it was because he seemed likeliest in the field to win. I supported him on that basis. This time, I think most of it is an “anybody but Palin!” thing.
