Video: Baseball-loving president nostalgic for, um, “Cominskey Field”

Via Breitbart. Of the two Chicago stadiums, I’ve always preferred Wringley Park. But to each his own.
In fairness, The One’s worldview was shaped by someone whose name ended in -insky so you can see why he might have slipped. Exit question: Will the media now start referring to Comiskey Park as “Cominskey Field” to cover for him? Hmmm.
Update: Jim Treacher reminds me that Barry O’s also a big fan of the “Nittaly Lions.”

Probably pining for the days of Yogi Bear too.
What do you expect from a Sox fan??
Go Twins!!!
BigWyo on July 15, 2009 at 3:33 PM
Ogabe meant to say “Alinsky Field” but obviously mangled it.
Bishop on July 15, 2009 at 3:33 PM
Yanknee Field
The Astro Park
Wrigley Stadium
Mild-High Park
portlandon on July 15, 2009 at 3:34 PM
In the fall, he and Sen. Kerry can catch a game at Lambert Field.
Exurban Jon on July 15, 2009 at 3:34 PM
LOL.
Or Gorki Park.
portlandon on July 15, 2009 at 3:34 PM
“Uh, well, uh, I’m so honored to be throwing out the, uh, first football.”
Barack Obama.
OhEssYouCowboys on July 15, 2009 at 3:34 PM
Who is his favorite White Sox catcher?
Carlton Finsk?
BuckeyeSam on July 15, 2009 at 3:34 PM
He probably sez Soldier’s Field too.
So well educated and attentive to details.
bbz123 on July 15, 2009 at 3:35 PM
This is just like his interest in “paw-kees-taw-nee” cooking & poetry…
Who is he trying to impress?
singlemalt_18 on July 15, 2009 at 3:35 PM
“Cominsky Field” is Austrian for “Comisky Park.”
Daggett on July 15, 2009 at 3:35 PM
Me, I like the “Nittaly Lions.”
Jim Treacher on July 15, 2009 at 3:35 PM
Did you see his pitch last night?
94 mph fastball right over the plate! Puljos winced with pain!
The media told me so.
Seriously – this whole “Obama is the #1 baseball/WhiteSox fan” is just another shallow attempt to make him appear “like every man.” It’s a light fraud compared to other Obama frauds, just like his vaunted “scholarship” that nobody seems to be able to locate anywhere, but it’s fraud nonetheless.
He throws a baseball like a girl and doesn’t even know the name of the famous-to-all-baseball-fans stadium of his own favorite team.
I call bullsh*t.
IMPEACH!!!!
LOL – sorry, I just felt like acting like a Bush-hater for a brief second there. Totally fun!
Good Lt on July 15, 2009 at 3:35 PM
The big bad cellular company US Cellular is probably not too happy about this.
WashJeff on July 15, 2009 at 3:36 PM
Maybe he was think “Lewinsky.”
BigD on July 15, 2009 at 3:36 PM
Meh.
I still call Miller Park “Milwaukee County Stadium”.

“This is the, uh, first time I’ve, uh, ever thrown a field goal.”
Barack Obama.
OhEssYouCowboys on July 15, 2009 at 3:37 PM
The Sox brought in Castro to be a backup catcher at Obama’s Behest.
WashJeff on July 15, 2009 at 3:38 PM
Alinsky Fields, would that be like the Left’s beloved fields of Pol Pot?
Or was that Ayers that wanted to execute 10% of Americans?
So hard to keep the many Marxist tyrants and wannabes straight…
Maquis on July 15, 2009 at 3:38 PM
For a man so keen on pronouncing foreign words, ideas, places and things correctly, he sure doesn’t have a clue how to talk about American things, even those things that are directly where he lives.
Almost as if it isn’t that important to him.
spmat on July 15, 2009 at 3:38 PM
I’m a fan of Citi Bank Field myself, where the Philadelphia Athletics play their game.
Good Lt on July 15, 2009 at 3:38 PM
You must mean he is nostalgic for “Communinsky Field”.
elduende on July 15, 2009 at 3:39 PM
Communist + Alinsky = Cominsky
txsurveyor on July 15, 2009 at 3:39 PM
do. not. care.
upinak on July 15, 2009 at 3:39 PM
It hasn’t even been called Comisky for some time. Named after a phone company now, I believe. I concur though, Wrigley is much cooler and Cominsky is in a pretty lousy neighborhood: Obama’s.
JammieWearingFool on July 15, 2009 at 3:39 PM
I never knew commies liked the great AMERICAN pastime – HATE.HIM.
Ris4victory on July 15, 2009 at 3:39 PM
Personally, I love going to games at “Tax Dodger Stadium” in L.A.
JohnInCA on July 15, 2009 at 3:39 PM
Maybe but have you ever seen his 3 point shot?
katiejane on July 15, 2009 at 3:40 PM
What a tard. He obviously has never bothered to climb the upper deck in New “Cominsky” stadium. I sat in the 10th row one game on the aisle. It seemed like when fans got to my row, they would look up to see how steep the remainder of their climb was and just mutter “sh*t” or some similar expletive. That stadium is steep. I never thought of the first Comiskey Park as particularly steep. Of course, The One has probably never been to the upper deck of the new Cominskey Park.
All the same, given a choice, I’d go to Wrigley every time.
Mallard T. Drake on July 15, 2009 at 3:40 PM
This is HILARIOUS.
I mean, he’s FROM chicago. He wore the whitesox jersey ON THE FIELD last night.
And he can’t even say the name right? It’s not like he stumbled and corrected himself.
This oughta be a “i see russia” moment, but alas, no dice.
Can’t wait till the NitaLLy lions play basketball at comINKey field speaking Austrian, but hopefully those austrian translators wont detract from our ‘real’ mission, in the non-arabic speaking country of afghanistan, where we are air-raiding villages.

You will get a chuckle out of Andy McCarthy’s “Meet Me in St. Booie”: http://corner.nationalreview.com/post/?q=YzFmMjkyZGM4MzllNjczYTc1MDRmNDNhNDdkYWJmMWY=
Obama pitches about as well as he bowls, the article concludes.

I watch the Brewers in Mueller Park and the Packers in Lambow Field
Jeff from WI on July 15, 2009 at 3:42 PM
Reminds me of when man-of-the-people Al Gore confused Michael Jordan with Michael Jackson.
Or John F Kerry asking if he could “…get me a huntin’ license.”
Or Hillary’s “I ain’t in now ways taaarrred.”
guntotinglibertarian on July 15, 2009 at 3:42 PM
Obama just broke George Will’s wittle RINO heart…

I didn’t he was a pitcher. I heard that he was a switch hitter.
ICBM on July 15, 2009 at 3:42 PM
It would be interesting for one of O’s media lapdogs to ask the One how many White Sox games he has actually been to – and ask for details: against whom, memorable plays, etc.
Sort of like Hillary being a life-long Yankees fan…
Realist on July 15, 2009 at 3:42 PM
As Mccarthy said on NRO the cameras were at an angle that didn’t show us the actual pitch. The American public must not be allowed to see Dear Leader suck at anything.
JohnInCA on July 15, 2009 at 3:43 PM
I’m a baseball fan and have trouble keeping up with the revolving-door name of sports stadiums. But for a Chisox fan to not know the name of their legendary former stadium? That’s like a Mets fan not remembering Shaw Stadium.
YYZ on July 15, 2009 at 3:44 PM
A lot of Cubes fans come up from Wriggeley to Mueller Park when they play the Bruers. It’s only a 90 mile drive.
Jeff from WI on July 15, 2009 at 3:44 PM
Is baseball still America’s past-time? Not apparently for Obama anyway. What an @$$. White Sox Park opened on July 1, 1910, but soon became known as Comiskey Park.
TOTUS is dead, long live the TOTUS!
Obama is an embarassment to himself once again.
Americannodash on July 15, 2009 at 3:44 PM
All contempt for him, aside – Obama really is effeminate.
OhEssYouCowboys on July 15, 2009 at 3:44 PM
A common lib thing. They show their “empathy” and “understanding” by proving familiarity with “your” world, and double-down by revealing disdain for their own. That’s why Obama apologizes for Americans. He relates to Americans as he believes an American-hating foreigner would to show solidarity and to demonstrate that he’s a “superior” human being. It’s another attempt to stroke his own ego.
So saying POH-KEY-STAHN,while eschewing typical Americanisms,in some weird twisted way makes him feel superior inside.
If we had to have a extreme lib, did it also have to be an American hating one? Did Stalin hate Russia? Did Mao hate China?
JiangxiDad on July 15, 2009 at 3:44 PM
Same here. Well done, Bishop, well done.

Wait, wait…. it’s not appropriate to ask those personal questions!
Now, if you’re a republican, or even a guy on the street in Ohio, we will diagnose your wife’s pregnancy and release your tax records without a care in the world
battleoflepanto1571 on July 15, 2009 at 3:44 PM
Let’s see, Obama sucks at bowling, golf, and apparently baseball. He can’t pick an NCAA bracket worth crap and betrays a superficial knowledge of sports. Yet the media tells us how athletic and what a fan he is. I’m beginning to think the mad hoop skilz are a myth too.
Mallard T. Drake on July 15, 2009 at 3:44 PM
Obama also said he loved watching football and the Chicago Cardinals as a kid.
Jeff from WI on July 15, 2009 at 3:45 PM

I wonder if he reads Urdu poetry while sitting in the stands at Comminsky Field? Just askin’.
JohnInCA on July 15, 2009 at 3:47 PM
Kerri actually got a pass from his adoring media lapdogs when he claimed, with a straight Mister Ed face, that his favorite Boston Red Sox player was “Manny Ortez”.
Del Dolemonte on July 15, 2009 at 3:47 PM
don’t count on that…

He seems to be familiar enough with the park to have been there a few times, and so what if he missed the name. I can’t remember the name of the road three roads over from mine. I want to see the guy “fail” as bad as anybody else, but this is just petty, and makes us look petty. I guess it’s a slow news day.

They would tear him apart and make ’sh*t on a stick’ out of him.

Being a lib lawyer type, he’s probably a big fan of the Michigan Wolferans.
As always with this douchebag, the question is – who’s worse, Obungle or his media smegma-lappers.

Don’t the Nationals play at Lewinsky Field?
DanMan on July 15, 2009 at 3:52 PM
Lucky its the white sox and not the red sox in Cominsky, or it would be complete.
WashJeff on July 15, 2009 at 3:52 PM
Don’t know, but they both blow.
WashJeff on July 15, 2009 at 3:52 PM
Do you try to pass yourself off as the supra genius savior of the nation, too? Mr. “Constitutional scholar” can’t pronounce the name of the park where his favorite team plays? That’d be like me not being able to name Qwest Field or Worsham Field at Lane Stadium (go ahead, look ‘em up ;-).
hawksruleva on July 15, 2009 at 3:52 PM
Field of in your dreams, Obama! Go practice your pitch.
capejasmine on July 15, 2009 at 3:53 PM
Yes, he calls one of the most storied teams in college football “the nitally lions” but then weighs in on the need for a BCS playoff.
Then again, he has no experience with healthcare but thinks he can “reform” the entire system, so I guess when you are an arrogant ignorant, you think you can do just about anything.
NoDonkey on July 15, 2009 at 3:53 PM
Lighten up. It’s a funny goof, a la “57 states.”
Allahpundit on July 15, 2009 at 3:53 PM
Does anyone know whether Obama, when he used to go to games at the old Cominskey Field, sat in the ACORN luxury box?
BuckeyeSam on July 15, 2009 at 3:54 PM
As a child, Obama was often seen in small towns in Northern Wisconsin with his mother, traveling from tavern to tavern in search of the best place to hunt deer.
Jeff from WI on July 15, 2009 at 3:54 PM
I think it’s just that White Sox fans are dumbasses.
Go Tigers!
calabrese on July 15, 2009 at 3:54 PM
Obama knows zip on baseball. He wants to appear as a “common man” or a sports fan. Like one of the guys. He’s busy reading Marx and poetry not on games.
jencab on July 15, 2009 at 3:54 PM
Nope. He’s just gettin’ warmed up.
And for fun – imagine the ridicule from the press if Bush had referred to “Cominsky Park”. Just imagine. And this dipstick Barama claims he actually went there before it was demolished.
