Confirmed: Obama’s “mom jeans” now officially a national news story

posted at 10:00 pm on July 15, 2009 by Allahpundit

In which CNN totally redeems itself for the other mom-themed political video they foisted on us today. Watch closely here and you’ll see the tweet that was sent to me last night — and which I linked in our post about The One throwing out the first pitch — flash by for a second or two. Good lord: Did Hot Air launch the Obama “mom jeans” meme? Behold my proudest moment as a blogger, my friends.

Only if you’re a “fashionista” according to CNN.

You know the GOP is worried if they all feel compelled to become gay fashionistas ala Bruno. When they start commenting about wardrobe, you know Obama is doing something right.

Allahpundit is NYC cool. He knows what’s up!

Obama’s jeans make him definitely look like Urkel.

So after 87,000 bloggings on terrorism and the war, the Constitution, the economy, religion and pluralism and they finally quote AP on this?

Congrats, AP….

Think so! Saw it all over after you tweeted it.
Look at Allah, going out with the Red Eye boys and getting quoted on CNN all in less than a week! Our little beta male is growing up.

SoxNation on July 15, 2009 at 10:11 PM

I’m still trying to get around the whole “I love Obama in Mom Jeans” coming from the Left. “Adorable”? “Super cool”? I mean I’m a full-out, hard-core D&D playin’ nerd, but I draw the line at mom jeans.

Oh and dcxvu, the problem is that the Left slobbers all over itself no matter what Obama does. To the point that when he wears a tired fashion clichè he’s “super cool”.

Rightwingguy on July 15, 2009 at 10:11 PM

Congrats AP. See, beta male bloggers don’t get this kind of cred.

Oh, and did you notice the better camera angle on Obama’s pitch? And she cut it off with the ball about 10 feet from home plate.

Sounds like the Obama admin got to some people.

Behold my proudest moment as a blogger, my friends.

Oh come now. You’ve had your moments.

In September 2004, Allahpundit was a key player debunking the Killian documents hoax. Mary Mapes, producer of 60 Minutes, blamed Allahpundit, among others, for “working anonymously in what appeared to be huge numbers, in unison, to destroy the Bush-Guard story.”[2] Largely due to this controversy, the website was among the Top Blogs Cited in Political Postings for the United States presidential election, 2004.[3]

Collateral damage alert:

Comedy writers across America are shocked and saddened at this turn of events. Their world has just been flipped upside down.

Will NBC file a “Mom Jeans” injunction to stop this rogue Obama humor from spreading and polluting the pristine comedy environment? Until that time, teams of writers will be working late into the night filling sandbags full of brand new Palin family rape jokes to combat the danger.

marmaran on July 15, 2009 at 10:27 PM

I didn’t notice the jean as I was watching the train-wreck call Obama’s throwing technique. How the hell do you throw a ball, unless it is a shotput, by pulling BOTH arms back?! Gawd, what a travesty of an imitation of an American man!

drunyan8315 on July 15, 2009 at 10:28 PM

So when does AP leave hotair for some lucrative offer from TMZ?

BPD on July 15, 2009 at 10:28 PM

Mom jeans AND he couldn’t get the ball over the plate. Not a good night for the Obama PR machine.

So will SNL do a skit on this? or will they still insist that there just isn’t anything that they can make fun of when it comes to The One?

D2Boston on July 15, 2009 at 10:24

That’s not really fair. She buys normal length jeans, but her back end is so wide that it bows them out and keeps them from getting all the way down to her shoes.

BadgerHawk on July 15, 2009 at 10:30 PM

On top of all that, he throws like a girl.

1. Obama’s jeans.
2. That AP knows what “mom jeans” are? (sorry never heard of them)

4. Obama’s windup on the mound? (W looked like Nolan Ryan in comparison)

glennbo on July 15, 2009 at 10:41 PM

Fashionistas accuse President Obama of wearing “mom jeans,” and everyone’s playing pants pundit.

I’m ROTFLMAO because of the sheer irony of it all.

Robin Givhan of the Washington Post fashion beat was the nasty whore who attacked John Roberts’ kids for being too white during his confirmation hearings to the SCOTUS. She also questioned the style of Mrs. Alito during Samuel Alito’s hearings and said nothing when Michelle Obama showed up in the inaguration in virtually identical “upholstry.” Two weeks ago she was quoted in a puff piece about Michelle Obama as talking about how stylish the first family is compared to the Bush family.

This week. Ms. Sotomayor has shown up in Soviet-era fashion and the filthy liar is wearing “mom jeans” and Robin Givhan is nowhere in the discussion. She’s willing to attack toddlers but has nothing but good to say about the Obama family? That, my friends, is partisanship in a nutshell.

highhopes on July 15, 2009 at 10:41 PM

I don’t know if it’s a regional thing or I’m just not cool enough to be in the loop but I never heard of the term “mom jeans” before. Therefore I am woefully lacking in knowledge about how to identify them or where the moniker came from.

Do tell.

rihar on July 15, 2009 at 10:42 PM

I feel bad for Obama’s kids. There’s no way you can stay cool in school when everyone learns that your Dad wears the same jeans you do.

I’m ready to be crucified for saying this; will anyone back me up?

I have this same pair of jeans in my closet. That’s how pants are supposed to fit. It’s strange to see a black man wearing jeans that fit properly. Nice jeans, Mr. President.

Of course, last week I was reassured by the president’s ogling of the young girl that he was not a robot sent back in time to destroy America. Now, I’m not so sure…

Gotta a Suburban and five kids too? It’s a requirement when the waist of your pants ride up over your bellybutton. If you got blue jeans like that in your closet, I’d suggest a visit to the “What Not to Wear” studio and perhaps a ritual burning of said jeans.
