Video: MS-NBC discovers sexual terminology

I discovered this through Tommy Christopher, who can’t believe that the term “blow job” requires not one but two apologies from MS-NBC anchors, especially since the same cable news network made a fetish of using “teabagging” as a sobriquet for tax protesters over the last few months. I’m a little confused, too. Didn’t the media argue that oral sex wasn’t actual sex? If so, why apologize for the use of this well-known phrase?
I guess I’m supposed to get the vapors from this segment, but I confess it registers about a 0.5 on the Outrage-O-Meter here. I’m not aware of any reason why the perfectly acceptable words “blow” and “job” cannot be combined to discuss a specific act of oral sex, especially in conjunction with a political controversy that occurred over a decade ago. It’s pretty amusing to see David Schuster get his knickers in a twist over it, though, looking downward and stammering like any good Puritan confronted with evidence of earthly pleasures.
What do you think? Is “blow job” an acceptable means of referencing that act on national television, or should we run screeching for the hills?

the fact that nobody watches is implied, because everyone knows nobody can watch “Nothing But Crazies” for a few mins without exploding.

This segment is supposed to give you gas?
rihar on July 14, 2009 at 3:18 PM
I thought it was grammatically incorrect to use the words “MS-NBC” and “blow jobs” in the same sentence with including the words “Obama” and “give”.
AaronGuzman on July 14, 2009 at 3:18 PM
Must say, not at all surprised Tacky Marcy Wheeler would be dumb enough to say such thing on national tv.
Can you say not fit fot prime time or what?

Is the word “blowjob” offensive? No. Is the rest of the garbage spewing from that thin lipped shrew offensive? Yes.

I think it depends on content.
Factual statements, such as “the desire to give Barack Obama a blow job is a requirement for employment at MSNBC” should be fine.

Back in about 1986 my parents got HBO. About 8 months later at dinner, my 7 year old brother looked at my father and said “dad, you need to get a blow job”. After the parents stopped having a meltdown, (and my sister & I stopped laughing our ***** off) under heavy questioning, it was determined that he had heard the term on an HBO comedy special and thought “Blow Job” meant “Hair Cut”.
We still laugh to this day everytime dad’s hair is starting to look a little shabby.

I’ll bet that Ed and the Hot Air staff are working overtime moderating this thread. Too many chances for naughty stuff (and some of us are really pushing the envelope).

Once again, the further decline of civility of our society. I suppose 5 years from now they’ll be actually doing it on MSNBC rather than just mentioning it. It’s pretty disgusting.
Jeff from WI on July 14, 2009 at 3:38 PM
Don’t see why its unacceptable. “Blow Job” accurately reflects what the MSM has been giving Obama for some time now. Matter of fact, I think its the principal reason Chris Matthews still has a (blow) job.

Can I call Schuster a “dick” now?
mojo on July 14, 2009 at 3:43 PM
No, and no.
I know the level of “news” has plummeted faster then Icarus over Arizona, but am I really being unreasonable thinking that “journalists” or even “pundits” can express themselves without gutter talk?
Another thing to “thank” Bill Clinton for…the dumbing down and degredation of America continues.
DrAllecon on July 14, 2009 at 3:44 PM
I personally think that the government has no right to say what anyone can say on television. If people don’t like swearing on a channel, then they won’t watch that channel. I’ve never heard of anyone being injured by words. People are injured by the meaning or the sentiment behind words, not sequences of letters.
sobincorporated on July 14, 2009 at 3:48 PM
The “woman”on here intrigued me. I thought I had seen her before. Then it dawned on me. If you go back to the old NASA tapes of the Mercury space launches, and you looked at the guys in 1961-62 wearing white shirts and THOSE glasses, and then added a cheap theatrical wig, you’d get this woman.
Jeff from WI on July 14, 2009 at 3:49 PM
Great metaphor!

She tripped and fellated over her words.
Steve Z on July 14, 2009 at 3:54 PM
Again, this demonstrates, to me, the child-like tantrum-prone leftist mentality of most of the democrats I know. This woman is simply an underdeveloped prepubescent in a woman’s body.
Claypigeon on July 14, 2009 at 3:55 PM
I call it “The Death of Decorum” but in the ever present 24/7 “news” cycle and endless “debates” in which they must be searching constantly to find pundits like her to fill time, they are going to end up with bottom of the barrel type intellects such as hers.
Brat on July 14, 2009 at 3:56 PM
Wow. I would doubt many people even heard the words when this was originally on. What pain and anger the poor woman has in her face. I doubt there is ever much peace in her life. She has to find someone like Dick Cheney to take it out on because it would probably kill her to try to deal with it head on.
peacenprosperity on July 14, 2009 at 3:58 PM
Thanks a lot. I just got an image of Clint Howard in “Apollo 13″, but in drag, stuck in my brain…OW it hurts!
Laura in Maryland on July 14, 2009 at 4:00 PM
“Death of Decorum” has a nice ring to it and describes the situation well.
I have no problem with more “adult” channels using whatever language they want to, I can choose to watch them or not. I also know to not have those channels on when my kids are in the room.
Not that I watch news often (for other obvious reasons) but the times that I do, I shouldn’t have to wonder if they’re going to go through George Carlin’s 7 words list without any warning.

The Death of Decorum…I can clearly remember this moment in my home, when my daughter started watching the brand new tv show, “Roseanne”. I was shocked at how the kids spoke to their parents…such a tone, my mother would have picked up a rubber flip-flop and beat the crap out of me…I’m still scared of my mother, and she’s 82 years old!
P.S. – My daughter ended up ok, she became a 10-dance ballroom dance champion and a CPA…she knows not to try that tone with me. It only took a couple of times to stand your ground, as a parent.
luvstotango on July 14, 2009 at 4:10 PM
Why is Jimmy Kimmel hosting an MSNBC shouting match interview?
Is this really a sketch from his show?
forest on July 14, 2009 at 4:11 PM
Good for you and your daughter! I do not have children, but I have seen the effects of shows like Roseanne on my nieces and nephew…I am appalled by the way some of them talk to their parents with such disrespect. But it’s just a TV show right? Just entertainment. No effect on society? Right.

Well if “teabagging” is acceptable then “blowjob” is too. I’d personally rather leave sex out of my news, though.
Rightwingguy on July 14, 2009 at 4:42 PM
Hahaha! Yeah, there actually ARE worse terms to use than “blow job”. Let’s be thankful that these people aren’t using the many OTHER more graphic terms that we have all come to know and love.
Rightwingguy on July 14, 2009 at 4:44 PM
What’s wrong with “hummer”?
Especially if you can actually hum a good tune while….
LimeyGeek on July 14, 2009 at 4:46 PM
That is too funny. Wow!
Rightwingguy on July 14, 2009 at 4:47 PM
An old-school conservative would shun the discussion of any sexual matters in public, which is why I answered “Not at all.” However, so long as our society is constantly engaging in such discussions, and so long as you cannot shop for groceries without encountering magazines with the word “SEX” plastered across the cover, then I suppose it does not make much difference if that word is broadcast on television.
Besides, Ed, you just quadrupled MSNBC’s viewership by posting that video on here.
cackcon on July 14, 2009 at 4:49 PM
Just IMAGINE if some conservative on Fox said this. Olbermann and Shuster would be OUTRAGED about it and personally blame Sean Hannity for it.
Speedwagon82 on July 14, 2009 at 5:04 PM
I wonder if Obama’s stimulus has saved or created any blow jobs?
Daggett on July 14, 2009 at 5:06 PM
More to the point of the discussion during the video (I don’t have anything original to say about blow jobs – other than that I like getting them), I would like to know where this woman is hiding out during discussions of illegal immigration.
She makes a point of spitting out that people on the right stress the “rule of law”. Where is she when the need to police the border and remove illegal aliens from the country is discussed? Isn’t that about the “rule of law”, too? Or is that a rule of law that isn’t worthy of enforcement?
erich on July 14, 2009 at 5:22 PM
She’s on The Office now!
nickj116 on July 14, 2009 at 5:33 PM
Lol, +100.
nickj116 on July 14, 2009 at 5:33 PM
You ARE kidding, right? You obviously have never practiced law.
leftnomore on July 14, 2009 at 5:41 PM
Lefties only care about the “rule of law” when it’s a law they happen to agree with. If it’s a law they don’t like, they feel justified in completely ignoring it. Of course, that “reasoning” doesn’t apply to those of us on the other side of the political spectrum. Neat how that works out for them, isn’t it?
AZCoyote on July 14, 2009 at 5:46 PM
Shuster did like 8 minutes of “teabag” jokes. Shut up, idiot.
Jim Treacher on July 14, 2009 at 5:49 PM
She can say it but with a face like her’s i bet money she has never done it…not unless the guy was related to her or was extremely drunk.
What the heck is it with liberal attack dog females…why do they all look like they lost the fight with the ugly stick?
Perhaps its their lack of physical appeal that makes them such vicious bitter harpies…

Did they recruit her from a porn show?
It appears no one waches their shows but it is still offensive
seven on July 14, 2009 at 6:14 PM
leftnomore, I’m hoping you actually read what I wrote. There’s no such thing as a “bad” word. They are just sequences of letters. Despite the whinings of people who can’t handle such things, the “f-word” is just a sequence of letters, as is “blowjob.” Obviously, people can be damaged with words, in the sense that people can be slandered, libeled, etc. But a word on its own is just letters.
sobincorporated on July 14, 2009 at 6:25 PM
I’ve just come to the conclusion that women were generally better looking 20-25 yeas ago, or more.
Jeff from WI on July 14, 2009 at 6:28 PM
Teabagging is o.k. because it was being used to ridicule conservatives.
In this case, Blowjob was directly regarding a liberal, Clinton, so it was out of bounds.
The same basic thing, but if a liberal is the target, then it’s not o.k.. If a conservative is a target, then it’s o.k.. It’s yet another example of the wonderful double-standard against conservatives in this brave new world.
Theophile on July 14, 2009 at 6:32 PM
Teabagging was accepted because it flew under the radar. Everyone knows what blow job means. Neither is appropriate on anything resembling a news show.

Just wanted to point out to those who said only pay channels or none at all, you recognize that actual swear words are allowed on basic cable, yes?
galenrox on July 14, 2009 at 9:06 PM
Yet another aim of the liberals is to try to ‘mainstream’ the decay of civilization, and thereby minimalize the damage Clinton’s contempt for the Office (and therefore the People) inflicted.
Ed, would you want me speaking in such blunt terms to your wife? To your mother? To your daughter? It’s contextual, and if your start lowering your standards for a broadcast intended for public consumption to that which might be appropriate for the high school locker room do not be surprised at what results.
Answer: No, it was NOT acceptable! The issue ten years ago was not that Bill was orally copulated, the issue was that Bill was orally copulated IN THE OVAL OFFICE by a female other than his wife AND he subsequently lied to the American People about it, AND THEN THE DEMS MADE LIKE IT WAS DANDY. All at a time when we now know he should have been hunting down Bin Laden and the AQ murderers.
If you allow the libs to repeat and diminish this over and over as if it were as harmless as a handshake you dilute what little is left of our traditional family values.

Seriously, this was a hoax right? No woman really looks THAT bad, does she? Why would anyone put that ultra ugly puss on TV?
Jeff from WI on July 15, 2009 at 5:31 AM
How else is this woman going to have sex? Doggy style so you don’t have to look at her face? She is a 2 bagger; 1 on her head because she is so ugly and 1 on your head in case hers falls off.
