“Somebody wrote to me on vacation and said, you know, what do you think about Sarah Palin, you know, would you endorse Sarah Palin, blah, blah‑blah. No, never. Not because of any other reason than these people have betrayed me and what I believe and what they said they believe over and over and over and over again. I don’t believe any politician. However, with that being said if I had a gun to my head and had to pick one, I think I would pick Sarah Palin. Does that mean she is who she says she is? I don’t know yet. But I know she’s not who the media says she is. And who the media says she is is stupid…
Now we’re at the beginning of this shift of the paradigm, but I believe Sarah Palin understands that and she understands that the two‑party system, whether it’s in two weeks, two years, ten years, I don’t know, but the two‑party system either has to correct itself which would be a major purge, or the two‑party system is broken forever. I think she knows that… I could be wrong but I think she’s brilliant.”

“Just 24 percent of those accept Palin’s explanation that she resigned because it was the right thing to do for Alaska. More than twice that percentage – 52 percent – cited her political ambition as the reason for her resignation…
Thirty-nine percent of those surveyed expect Palin to run for president in 2012, while 43 percent say she will not. If she runs, she’ll likely face widespread skepticism: As CBS News revealed Monday morning, just 22 percent say Palin has the ability to be an effective president. Sixty-five percent say she does not.”

Alright, good night all. Sweet dreams.

Side 3: Um…isn’t it kind of early to be saying..

Perfectly fine thread about Levi Johnson (I think) saying Sarah Palin has low aproval ratings. Then turned into a thread about me (on the 3rd page). Then MadCon and HornetSting got into a quick “dispute” then became friends again. Lastly HornetSting went to bed. After that the thread kind of died.

I was not a big fan of Sarah at first, but then she gave all Alaskans a $1200 fuel subsidy on our dividend checks last year (much to the dismay of everyone except those of us who needed it), and I have loved her ever since. You Go Sarahcuddah!

Mangy old Allahpundit was tryin’ to stuff Sarah into a pig skin sack
He said, “If you don’t promise you won’t run for the Presidency I’m gonna throw you on the railroad tracks!”
And then he grabbed her (and then)
He tied her up (and then)
He threw her right in front of the railroadtracks (and then, and then, and then…!)

It is funny. I still like her no matter what the nay sayers say. I still think she stands for the heart of America despite so many thinking otherwise. Her methods may not be by the book but she is an influence over what will come next for the USA.

She really needs to quit using that same phrase “tap our God-given energy in our own soil blah blah send it to hungry markets”. I mean, the point is fine, but USE DIFFERENT LANGUAGE on occasion.
DaveS on July 14, 2009 at 3:38 AM
but USE DIFFERENT LANGUAGE on occasion.
DaveS on July 14, 2009 at 3:38 AM
why because it mentions God? every politician uses the same phrase to hammer home the point. it is a sign of a good politiican to stay on message. that phrase does a couple things and it does them well. reminds social cons that she believes in GOD, reminds the national security hawks that she believes in americian exceptionlism, and it reminds fiscal conservatives that it is our energy which will produce tax revenues for our out of balance national debt.
Just because you have a problem with God does not mean the rest of us do. atheism is the new Che. and about as stupid.

Esthier and SpeedWagon, you two are full of it. Here are so called Conservatives basing their electoral decision on how quickly a person can answer a stupid question. Couric’s question put the S T U P I D in ’stupid.’ I don’t care if Palin doesn’t read the newspapers. I don’t either. I get my news from a wide variety of sources in the blogosphere, the combination of which gives me a better perspective on any newsworthy event. You guys want someone who can answer a stupid question quickly. I want someone who considers before answering. I’ll take Sarah Palin’s ability to provide excellent solutions to current American problems over her refusal to rush into answering a stupid question by a brain-dead anchor.
SilentWatcher on July 14, 2009 at 4:39 AM
So, DaveS, you’d have Christians shut up about who we believe made us and all creation? If the energy is God-given, and it is, that means it is for man to use wisely not for us to reject its usage. That’s the corollary of Palin’s statement. So, get over your bias and think beyond the superficial.
SilentWatcher on July 14, 2009 at 4:41 AM
Did you just call AP mangy?

Let’s see, cbs tried to affect the 2004 election by dumping forged documents on America and then they heavily edit an interview with Palin to make her look like an idiot. It’s early but if I did some digging I could probably come up with 20 significant instances of cbs corruption and leftist activism going back to and including uncle walter. Yet we are supposed to believe a cbs poll? Really is amazing how our “conservative” pundits use leftist sources to attack and damage conservatives.
While I’m at it, doesn’t anyone else here find it amazing that all of the leftists media and even an awful lot of the so called conservative media are now pushing the story that mccain picking Palin was a mistake and may have caused him the election? It was less then a year ago, the facts are still available yet they are trying to change history. I was Romney guy and up until mccain picked Palin had vowed not to cast a vote in the presidential race. Even on election day I left that box until last to be checked, it was not easy voting for that fraud. There were millions who felt just like me yet the media and beltway “conservatives” are trying to change the story and say Palin may have cost mccain the election. Wake up people 1984 is now and both republicans and democrats work for the Ministry of Truth.

Palin says in wahington Post that:
The ironic beauty in this plan? Soon, even the most ardent liberal will understand supply-side economics. (lol beautiful)
The Americans hit hardest will be those already struggling to make ends meet. As the president eloquently puts it, their electricity bills will “necessarily skyrocket.” So much for not raising taxes on anyone making less than $250,000 a year. (zing alert. Palin is stupid???? really?? she says more in one op-ed than our entire rep leadership has in months on this bill)
unseen on July 14, 2009 at 7:06 AM
I think Palin could be an effective president, but it will take some time to make the majority of the American people think the same thing.
I have been listening to people talk about purges and third parties forever. This is no different than when Ross Perot and Pat Buchanan and Ralph Nadar claimed the two party system dead, etc. But where are those people today? Our political system was not created to be a parliamentary system. If that was what the founders intended they had plenty of examples to follow.
I think it makes more sense to change the parties from within than it does to try and go rogue. Look at the history of our country, the Democrats and the GOP have changed a great deal over the years. It is inevitable that they will continue to change.

I think there are a lot of people who honestly love Sarah Palin. I also think there are a lot of people, many of whom are not liberal or Democrat or traitors or whatever who do not think she is up to the job of Presidency. I think that for those people her resignation just makes them that much more hesitant to support her.
I know that her supporters do not like that or want to believe it or even get angry at the people who say it, but I also think it is true.
I would vote for Sarah Palin. I think she was driven from her job and resigned so that she could pursue other forms of political activism. I think she is a lot less likely to say stupid things that Joe Biden…and who cares what magazines he reads…but I don’t think that most Americans are ready to trust her yet. That very well could change.
Terrye on July 14, 2009 at 7:13 AM
Governor Palin going rogue (third party) is about the only way the Democrats can win in 2012 after the likely train wreck the current administration is heading for at flank speed.
Remember Ross Perot? Yes, I am trying to forget, too.
IlikedAUH2O on July 14, 2009 at 7:14 AM

Terrye on July 14, 2009 at 7:07 AM
The only way a third party works is when it co-ops one of the other two. since the GOP has moved too the blue-bloods there is no party that talks to the avg citizen and works for the avg citizen. therfore the GOP has to be careful here. they are ripe for a take over. It maybe from within and it maybe from without. either way the GOP that the blue bloods have built over the last 20 years is a decayed relic that needs to change and change it will or it will die politically. 3rd party or no third party. and if you look at independents as a seperate party we already hasve a third party system in place. Dems, independents and reps. If you can take 75% of the votes of the GOP and get 50% of the indepentents you will have close to 40%-50% of all the voters o=and the bluebloods will take maybe 10-20% of the vote. Yes the dems would win that race but next election the new party will only grow while the gop shrinks….it happened with the whigs and can be repeated easily enough if the GOP fails to listen to its voters…

Hmmm. 65% of people in a poll that is probably 75% Democrat/leftists say they don’t think she would be an effective President. I AM SHOCKED! I am also shocked that AP would bring up a negative story about Sarah. I still haven’t got a feel for whether it is to drive comments or if he really just doesn’t like her.
Oh well. Next.

With AP, it’s strictly about the traffic.
doriangrey on July 14, 2009 at 7:51 AM
Nope it isn’t. In fact due to his negative hit pieces on Palin a new blog was started. Conservative4palin. Which just clocked 1 million hits. Not bad for a small blog.
If Allah continues down this Palin hate IMO Hotair will lose traffic as other blogs take up the other side of the picture. In all fairness to ALLah i think ED’s comments on july 3rd hurt more to the site. As long as people thought you had one pro-palin and one anti-palin people were more likely to give Allah some room. However since ED displayed his views Hotair is becoming known in the blogworld as the antipalin site. which if Palin’s star continues to rise will drive traffic away from hotair.

Two cents:
1. Glenn Beck is a talking head. He’s about ratings, and says anything to foment ludicrous arguments at times so that people pay attention to him. We all get it. But his opinion about Mrs. Palin isn’t worth much, especially since he said what he did for the sole purpose to getting to talk abotu how broken he thinks the two-party system is. That’s his real schtick.
2. I’m pretty sure CBS has no credibility on anything. Their bias (hell, even that dipshit at AFV drops global warming comments on the show) is obvious, and they have demonstrated time and again their disregard for factual reporting. They hate Sarah Palin. We get it. But quoting ANYTHING they say is worthless. It’s Disney, folks: All about the magic.

What you do not seem capable of grasping is that HotAir is not a fan site. Fan sites never engage in genuine constructive criticism, all they do with worship and praise. If what you want or need is a messiah, then fine go hang out at your fan site.
Me personally, I will stick with HotAir where AP and ED are making a genuine attempt to see the truth through the propaganda. I do not need to go to a fan site to worship or praise Sarah, nor do I need to go to a fan site to know I like her and would probably vote for her.
doriangrey on July 14, 2009 at 8:09 AM
Come on now folks.
Priority one: check advance of statist liberal
Priority two: get support of voters
Priority three: 2012
Palin can focus on priority one and two. Three will take care of itself for now. There is plenty of work to be done today.

I think that Sarah Palin is going to become a Community Organizer… but not the Saul Alinsky type. She will lead the NEW “counter-revolution” to organize the people who still believe in the principles of the Constitution and the Founding Fathers, and who know that the way out of bad economic times is to inspire confidence in the ingenuity of the American people (as opposed to big government) and let them keep more of their hard-earned money (ie. Reaganomics). Look for her to nail her 95 Theses (”Rules for Patriots”) to the door of the Capitol Building soon.
Logic on July 14, 2009 at 8:12 AM
I understand why the power brokers in the GOP don’t like her. She represents a destruction of their system – that they are the ones who pick our candidates for us and tell us what is going to be. I am sick and tired of the picking a bunch of Rinos and telling us that those are the only people who can get elected. We have to go after ‘moderates’ in order to win. I say to them “STFU”. We don’t have to listen to them any more with Sarah. She has more nationwide appeal than anyone since Reagan.
I don’t know if she is the perfect conservative to pick for President, but I do know that even if she falls a bit short in some areas, she is ten times better than any one the establishment has picked for us in a long time.
Sporty1946 on July 14, 2009 at 8:14 AM
Yes. And the speculation about Palin’s “political future” makes sense for people to be jumping on it, but people shouldn’t kid themselves. They aren’t speculating b/c they are unbiased observers.
I personally think, though, that Ed’s piece on 7/3 was more the fact that he was pissed off about it…I have to give him a little bit of room.

jeeze louise give me a break
blatantblue on July 14, 2009 at 8:07 AM
yes hate as in:
have strong distaste for something: to have strong distaste or aversion for something, somebody, or something that has to be done
you got a better word for the fact that Allah posts nothing (or almost nothing) but anti-palin posts on the Palin topic?
If it was too just drive traffic than pro-palin pieces work as well if not better. if it was to appear fair and balanced ithen an equal or quasi-equal posting of pro and anti pieces would be in order.
So lets put out some other words to best describe the reason Allah posts almost nothing but anti pieces on Palin.
strong dislike?
strong aversion?
oh wait that is the definition of hate isn’t it.
Nope looking for other words here….

Actually no one, including Sarah, knows what she is going to do. I think her busy life, is a work in progress. If she stays in politics, great, if not, then many people, including myself, will have wasted our time supporting an idea that will never come to fruition.
That’s the problem with showing support for a candidate. You tend to give a part of your soul to them. How much easier the independents have it, who have nothing invested in any one person or ideal.
Jeff from WI on July 14, 2009 at 8:20 AM
I can appreciate their not being a cheer squad and cutting through the propaganda. That is why I come here – to cut through the propaganda of the left. But the commentary on the propaganda leads one to believe the they are trying torpedo someone who could truly make a difference in the GOP by providing a rallying point. Who else is there that creates such energy. I used to feel the same way about Newt when he was the Minority Leader of the House and then he totally changed once he got be Speaker.

Really i could care less about Palin the canidate. If she fails she fails. I have given the part of my soul not to the person but to the idea of citizen government. Of consitutionally limted government and the idea of individual freedom. And thus i will support any canidate that speaks on those issues and when they also live by those issues it makes it so much easier to support that person. It is not the person but the idea that drives my passion. and the practice of that idea by the person that increases or decreases my support.
If Gov Palin come out tommorrow and said she was for gun control, and a big government program to get everyone a chicken in every pot my support would drop from here quickly. As long as Gov Palin continues to govern, live and talk about less government, lower taxes, indiviual freedom from government then she has my vote and money.

If you don’t go there how do you know what say or do? I know that they have the Aplin news up good or bad faster than almost any other site. Take the oped in the washington post. it was posted last night. hotair still has not posted it and most likely will not make a big deal out of it. (i could be wrong on that).
C4p had it up before instanpundit which says something there. a direct attack on Obama’s cap and trade from a rep leader is in a national newspaper is IMO newsworthy. A lot more newsworthy than what a CBS pool says or what Glen Beck as to say.
You can call it a fan site if you want but it has shown to be a treasure trove of actual facts about Gov. Palin. instead of the Megan McCain/Peggy Noonan type of fluff (which they also post about and link). thus giving both sides of the arguement. Of course the spin there is pro-palin however both sides are presented. Instead of mostly just negative stuff
unseen on July 14, 2009 at 8:45 AM
Yes, that’s about the size of it regarding continued support for any candidate. If their IDEALS mesh with a person, you’ll support that person. The ONLY thing Palin has over any other candidate from the last election, is the real possibility of of an actual grass roots movement, which somehow to the conservative dreamers in the group, like me, seem more “wholesome” than the GOP headquarters marketing “excitement”that a Mitt or Huck would get. I’m sure Palin is just a slicker form of marketing, and it’s all a facade, but I’d still buy a Z28 over a regular Camaro even if the drive train was exactly the same.
Jeff from WI on July 14, 2009 at 8:46 AM
i would like for Palin to be an attack dog against Obama & his regime, much like liz cheney is. they are not in Congress so they don’t owe a state/district anything, nor do they have to negotiate for something for their state/district.
dick cheney is a good attack dog, but because he knows so much, he has to be very careful what he says.
kelley in virginia on July 14, 2009 at 8:50 AM
What probably gives all cynical political watchers doubts about Sarah is they can’t comprehend a person who really loves the United States and puts the country’s welfare above her own. She is the genuine article and a beacon of light to those of us who put country first and know it is a great nation, under God, dedicated to life, liberty and the pursuit of whatever makes you happy!
Herb on July 14, 2009 at 8:51 AM
Oh, they can comprehend it, it’s just been sooo long since anyone has seen the genuine article (Who has there been since Ronald Reagan?) that they just want to be damned sure that is what she is and not another Obama.

From Trig and choosing life, to her strong belief in God yet her not pushing those decsions onto those she governened. Her decsion and argument for not taking the 28million in stimulus funds because it would require federal mandated building codes. etc. It is clear she is far from stupid yet the media wants to paint her that why which raises the question of why? etc.
All of those things peak my curosity and as long as she continues down that choosen path i can continue my support for her.

Oh, they can comprehend it, it’s just been sooo long since anyone has seen the genuine article (Who has there been since Ronald Reagan?) that they just want to be damned sure that is what she is and not another Obama.
doriangrey on July 14, 2009 at 8:57 AM
I’m not big Bush 1 or 2 supporter but I would have to say that even though most of their decsions were wrong i felt that they made them for what they believed was the greater good. i just think they were wrong. esp on spending and growing of gov. Obama on the other hand I don’t get that feeling. What he does he does for his own reasons not the greater good IMO. Clinton was somewher ein the middle. He had his moments.
I do know I would take 10 Clintons before an Obama and a 100 palins before a Clinton

In a way, Palin did resign from political ambition, since it was clear she could not be effective politically in Alaska after the election. That IS political ambition to wish to be effective.
Her other perception issue over competence is a function of the interviews, which she’ll have to overcome.

Right here Buckaroo!

Agreed Palin is more than a f”fancy paint job, racing stripes and mags”, but in today’s group of idiot voters, you need STYLE to win. It’s more marketing, unfortunately.

The Cuda is a P-47 Thunderbolt going down on a column of Wehrmacht vehicles in ‘44 France. Rockets, bombs, bullets, oh my!
Or an IL-2 Sturmovik with two 30 mm guns blazing up the butt of a Tiger tank, with UBETCHA! painted on the side.
2012 will be the Great Patriot War in American politics.
Obama’s Stalingrad will be the debates where the Cuda puts on the bite and her peasant hordes storm the DC palace, too a fainting Noonan, Parker, Dowd and Quinn (and AP).
By the way, that CBS poll is rubbish. I’ll believe it when Rasmussen says its so.
And, don’t forget the All-Star Game is tonight. Go NL!!!

No,Sarah is too good looking for something affectionately called, “The Jug”.
More of a P-51 Mustang D. Fast, graceful, fun to fly, and lethal as a fighter or ground attack.

Mrs. Sarah Palin has the capability to act as an armored cavalry regiment and decimate the statist liberal rear areas on two key objectives: Debt and Energy.
“She has freedom of movement.
Infantry: prepare to march.

The Regiment will ADVANCE!
El Coqui on July 14, 2009 at 5:44 AM”
The Regiment will advance! Indeed!
There’s a breathless hush in the close to-night
Ten to make and the match to win
A bumping pitch and a blinding light,
An hour to play, and the last man in.
And it’s not for the sake of a ribboned coat.
Or the selfish hope of a season’s fame,
But his captain’s hand on his shoulder smote
“Play up! Play up! And play the game!”
The sand of the desert is sodden red-
Red with the wreck of the square that broke
The gatling’s jammed and the colonel dead,
And the regiment blind with dust and smoke.
The river of death has brimmed its banks,
And England’s far and Honor a name,
But the voice of a schoolboy rallies the ranks-
“Play up! Play up! And play the game!”
This is the word that year by year,
While in her place the school is set,
Every one of her sons must hear,
And none that hears it dare forget.
This they all with joyful mind
And bear through life Eke a torch in flame,
falling fling to the host behind-
“Play up! Play up! And play the game!”
A little literary input in morning freshens the mind.

Happy to oblige.
Not for long…
At least you did.

Taking her time would have been fine, Silent, but she also stumbled over it and looked as though she was flailing.
I’m not saying she was. I even gave what I consider a credible reason for her awkward pause. I’m just saying that a politician shouldn’t be making awkward pauses. Emphasis on the awkward.
As to reading only from blogs, I personally have no problem with that and wasn’t trying to imply that I did, only that most Americans probably do and thus wouldn’t like it if that had been her answer. We’re talking about a politician and thus someone whose power is derived from her ability to convince others to join her side, hence, public opinion matters as a practicality.
But if you think I’m full of it, then just don’t respond to me, as I’m obviously not worth your time.

He left for a different job. He wasn’t fired and doesn’t seem to want to come back.
I’m so sorry that some of you seem to find no pleasure in this site any more, but there’s no reason to believe that you’ll be able to convince Michelle’s mind on who she has hired and will be better served finding someone who you enjoy reading.
Esthier on July 14, 2009 at 11:12 AM
Yeah, she really needs to quit mentioning God here. We should burn the Declaration of Independence, too, because it says we are endowed by our Creator with certain inalienable rights!! Those pesky darn Christians!

This is where I get my NEWS not my VIEWS.
I have detected and been irritated by the anti-Palin views of Allahpundit.
He’s wrong….so what?

Since he can’t convince anyone to adopt his peculiar political views, the best he can hope for is to irritate people. You are right about reading this site for news and not for views, but the biases of the reporter always color the presentation of news.
