ABC analyzes Obama ogler tape

Now that the Michael Jackson story is waning, the media can focus on the important stories and help answer the tough questions: “Was Obama looking at that 16 year old girl’s butt?”
Drudge featured a photo, that appears to show Obama going all Bill Clinton in Rome. However, it’s a still picture, but a video exists that the media is now tearing apart frame by frame.
GMA analyzed the tape as if it were a Zapruder film of bootyliciousness and concluded that the video clearly shows Obama wasn’t checking out the girl’s butt (they also don’t think he’s a socialist, so take that for what it’s worth) — however, the experienced male glancer will tell you that you always have a “plan B” in case you’re caught looking and need to make it like you were focusing on something else, so who knows.
It doesn’t appear that Obama was overtly checking the girl out (if he was, at least he didn’t make it quite as obvious as Bill Clinton) — Sarkozy, however, is another story altogether:
At least we’ve found one way to get these G8 guys to move to the right.
Update (Ed): Jake Tapper gave the White House pushback on the glance, and that drew a lot of skepticism both here and at Jake’s blog. I’ll copy the comments over when this goes live. Honestly, I think ABC got it right, and did a pretty amusing segment, too.

Whether he did or didn’t, (although it looks to me like he did) now the morons in the media will probably hound this poor girl and her family and she’ll be on David Letterman and be ridiculed…oh, wait…she’s not a Palin, nevermind. He totally checked out her butt. He may not have stared but he saw it and took a look. He’s male, a girl butt was in his field of vision, he looked at it and then continued with the other girl. He probably then thought about the girl butt and had a silent laugh about what Clinton would do to it and then back to how wonderful everyone must think he is and how they are all blessed to be in his presence and how his plan for bankrupting the US is all coming together as planned.

I didn’t read, basically I would consider this a non story. Anyone can stop a tape, or have one of moments with a photo, that looks “wrong”.
So many other things are so wrong…focusing on this dilutes the real problems, and makes critics look petty.

Listen, I don’t think this is any big deal. I don’t think he realized she was 16 and she is dressed maturely. But the still and the film are clear he’s taking a peek at the butt. He keeps staring down as she passes to cover it, poorly, but the eyes clearly start out on and follow the butt. He doesn’t even bother to look up when the other girl taps his arm for help. He simply guides her without looking so it’s hard to buy he was unsure of where he was stepping.

BTW, unless Obama is psychic or something you have about the worst take I have seen on this. The girl Obama is helping doesn’t even enter the picture till the Brazilian girl has passed. Obama doesn’t even look up to help her or when she taps his arm. So unless Obama knew somehow she would suddenly step down there is no other explanation than he turned his head to stare at the butt. I would say though that the other picture is clear neither Obama or Sarkozy is looking at the woman bending down to arrange or pick up the place cards. Obama is looking at the cards at his feet as Berscoloni and Medevnev are and Sarkozy is looking straight ahead, not down.

I don’t remember anyone in the media trying to debunk it.
(That picture was the result of a long focal length camera compressing the picture. Palin was actually several feet behind McCain, but you couldn’t tell it from the picture.)

The role of the President of the United States:
A mistaken view of the Presidency is that we hire a man to be an adminstrator or a policy maker. We offer him a job based on his skills. Now if this is how you view the Presidency, then I’ll grant you that he’s just a dude checkin’ out the hot chick.
A more accurate view of the office of President maintains that we elect a man of good character from among us to perform what are predominantly ceremonial and symbolic functions of the office. And these ceremonial and symbolic functions are incalculably important because they reflect the strength and stability of the United States itself.
The second view, the correct one, implies our President’s behavior was a complete dereliction of the duties we elected him to perform. Then again, judging from the comments around here, perhaps Mr. Obama is reflecting all too accurately the seriousness and maturity of the United States itself.
