Here’s another rich entrepreneur type who supported Obama and thought he would be wonderful for the economy: one Mr. Donald Trump….

Donald Trump would fire Bush, hire Obama, he says at Scottish golf hearing

Sharke on July 10, 2009 at 12:11 AM

Trump is a little whacky. He made a crack a while back about wanting to date his hot daughter

I’ve said if Ivanka weren’t my daughter, perhaps I’d be dating her,”

Then we have idiots like springsteen. I can hardly bring myself to listen to his music any more. He rakes in 50 mill a year and tries to portray himself as a working mans champion.

Then their is Ian Anderson who once sang a song “Broadsword” about standing up to your enemies. Now he is way to the left.

bullseye on July 10, 2009 at 12:18 AM

And Warren Buffet is no free market success story – he wouldn’t and couldn’t make money without the help of the federal government.

Also here: Warren Buffett’s name is synonmous with Wall Street and big business, but his political views are closer to socialism than free-market capitalism.

Neither is Obama’s other fan, Donald Trump, an owner of a self-made, honest, free market fortune. He got rich through his father and then through repeatedly screwing over his investors and declaring bankruptcy.

Then of course there’s George Soros, who financed much of the “grassroots” (lol) Obama campaign – the man who admitted he made billions from the credit crunch and who has made billions in the past through dishonestly, corruption and other highly questionable activities…

Danny B on July 9, 2009 at 11:07 PM Everyone might be surprised how many supporters of The One: 1) Are laying people off 2) Are ducking any of the New World Order that costs them money (like taxes). 3) Are in gold or T Bill hedge funds..you all get the idea.

Lots wrong with this article…first off they don’t need more paved roads in Afghanistan what do they think the rural migrating gypsy like Afghans are driving?

http://www.michaelyon-online.com/girl-with-no-future.htm

You know what would work in Afghanistan a Rail System…you know linking three major cities say Herat, Kabul and Kandahar. Afghans move around they live in tents and are more gypsy like.

The answer to force protection is that each province provide for themselves, and if they can work out a mutual cooperation between each other to help each other out like with treaties so be it. They are more like principalities so we want them to become Nationalistic with a central army. HOW with smoke signals, maybe drums:)

Afghans don’t want to be Americans, they don’t want to be Westerners so Yon sees a bleak existence for this Afghan child because she won’t have a western upbringing way of life? That’s the worse part of Nation Building imposing our way of life on others whether they want it or not.

Dr Evil on July 10, 2009 at 12:29 AM

It’s official…Buffet is a very rich moron.

AUINSC on July 9, 2009 at 10:03 PM

Hey, Buffett, you billionaire putz. Several million people who don’t know the first thing about investing or the economy looked at the statements of our economically retarded President and predicted disaster.

Why couldn’t you? Fool.

Jaibones on July 10, 2009 at 12:29 AM

I still don’t see many of them in US made cars or SUV’s; its about 12 to 1 Subarus

IlikedAUH2O on July 10, 2009 at 12:30 AM

Warren if you think it’s a good idea you pony up for it with your money. What’s that I hear crickets, yea I thought so.

mkm19602000 on July 10, 2009 at 12:30 AM

I didn’t bookmark the pissed of ceiling fan guy earlier this afternoon. Would someone be kind enough to provide the YouTube link?

toliver on July 10, 2009 at 12:38 AM

One thing I agree with the Communists about— uber rich a@@hats are a detriment to humanity.

I can respect true captains of industry, innovators, those who create-they certainly earn their wealth and help the rest of society as well…but these Gordon Gecko types are scum and aren’t much better than the Bernie Madoffs of the world.

Dr. ZhivBlago on July 10, 2009 at 1:08 AM

The only thing worse than this clown is the fact he couldn’t just keep his mouth shut and keep us from seeing his ugly, moronic puss.

Jeff from WI on July 10, 2009 at 5:51 AM

What I’m wondering is how, I, a lowly child care provider in rural central Michigan, (from a middle class background I should add) could see this coming when all of the supposedly “smart” and with it people went for Obama hook, line and sinker?

Shut up Mr. Buffet. You’re an idiot.

SueM on July 10, 2009 at 6:02 AM

The curtain lifted on the Goracle of Omaha many months ago. He sold us all down the river.

ornery_independent on July 10, 2009 at 6:24 AM

i wonder why he thought obambi was so wonderful. or did he think mccain would hurt his particular investments.

doesn’t matter now. he backed the wrong horse. and he, of all people, should have been able to see that.

kelley in virginia on July 10, 2009 at 6:31 AM

My poor sister bought a baby berk when the economy was ok. I can’t imagine how worthless it is right now. I’m glad I didn’t now.

rollthedice on July 10, 2009 at 6:34 AM

Apparently Ed and Allah REFUSE to mention John Ensign’s parents paying John’s mistress 100,000 dollars! So guys, don’t you think the story is newsworthy? Or are you happy to ignore a major story that hurts the credibility of the gop? Go ahead ignore it, it just shows what partisan hacks you are. John Ensign, family values, the gop. I guess you can’t publish stories that hurt the conservative movement. That just makes you a propaganda outlet. Hey guys, lets publish ANOTHER story about Obama’s poll numbers, and keep ignoring Ensign’s story. Have you no shame man?

athensboy on July 10, 2009 at 6:51 AM

athensboy: sure its news. i’ve read all about it on other sites. does Ed have to publish every scrap of news that comes along? actually no he doesn’t. this is sort of his backyard. we just play in it.

kelley in virginia on July 10, 2009 at 6:57 AM

Tax cuts. Problem solved.

athensboy on July 10, 2009 at 6:51 AM

The Ensign story is old news. We already knew the guy was a sleaze and a liar and an adulterer. We already knew his mistress and her hubby were blackmailing him. So what’s the big “news” story that we should all be commenting on? We’ve already had the Ensign’s-a-dirtbag thread. How many more of those do we need?

gotta love that HA filter. Viag** catches the filter every single time. It is part of the QOTD yet we can’t reference it directly. Wordsmithing keeps us on our toes, I guess.

athensboy on July 10, 2009 at 6:51 AM

Tabloid gossip v. the numbers plummeting for the street thug turned president who is destroying the nation? I’ll take the street thug story thank you very much. It has more relevance than a story that is just hanging on because you filthy liberals need to stage a distraction from the trainwreck that is the current regime.

highhopes on July 10, 2009 at 8:14 AM

Obviously, Warren has a good place in the upcoming Politburo.

bluelightbrigade on July 10, 2009 at 8:19 AM

What’s in the second stimulus package for Warren?… food for thought indeed. For the rest of us, it’s like your doctor saying, “I think we need to do a nerve test and draw some blood. We are going to shoot you in the foot with a handgun”. You say “wow, I don’t that’s the best way to stimulate my nerves OR draw a blood sample”. The doc says “Hey, I know what’s best for you.” He shoots you in the foot with a pistol. You jump up and down wildly, obviously nerve-stimulated and giving up blood. He observes this, knowing it’s not beneficial in the first place. He then looks at you and says “Let’s try the other foot… at least it’s helping me practice for accuracy and control… and by the way, I’ll be doing this again to your kids for years to come…”

My systems at work and at home both are clogging on HotAir, although to be fair my work browser is also finding offensive content on the Wall Street Journal’s WSJ.com site. Heh.

I don’t know that the “system” Warren Buffet used was capitalistic. He bought up small, family run insurance companies that could not survive the very socialistic inheritance taxes. He’s a great proponent of confiscatory inheritance taxes. Buffet, like most liberals, love socialism when it doesn’t effect him. I work with liberals, and when most of them were slammed with a property tax increase they howled about how unfair it was.

If it weren’t for George Soros, Warren Buffet would be the biggest scumbag in the United States. I still puzzle at people’s respect and blinding admiration for the man.

Liberals worship power solely for the sake of power. Dictators and terrorists are their rock stars. But when a conservative leader doesn’t try to control their lives, that fills them with blind rage.

By exactly the same token, lberals love the rich — but only the FILTHY rich. Their next door neighbor who works hard, saves his money and pays his taxes? That guy is a menace to their way of life and must suffer for the bad feelings he’s created within them.

Dr Evil on July 10, 2009 at 12:29 AM

Reminds me of the old joke:
Mechanical engineers build weapons.
Civil engineers build targets.

A rail system would be the first thing to be attacked and destroyed by Taliban. They know that by crippling transportation in the region, they would gain the upper hand.

If Afghanistan was a more stable place, then yes, a rail system would be a great idea.

jimmy2shoes on July 10, 2009 at 7:11 AM

No. That’s onlya part of the solution.

Condrolling/reducing govt spending is the other key factor. The GOP got kicked out in large part for Democrat-Lite in that regard. Limit spending to what is Constitutionally authorized andwho knows.. this country might even be able to pay its bills and havea viable currency trusted around the world.
