Although your point is well taken, I am from Chicago, and the scumbags that you are talking about are my elected representatives, and I have to ask you: You don’t seriously think that the corrupt black Democrats are any better, worse, or different than the corrupt white and/or Hispanic Democrats in Chicago, do you?

I think the problem is not so much color or flavor, as it is party.

OT – Can you explain to me why the new proposals to allow drilling 10mi off the coast has everyone in an uproar? I know about the spill in Tampa but that was tankers. The drilling and transportation through pipelines has become quite safe.

There are 3 issues.
#1 is tourism. Tourism is Florida’s bread and butter. Oil platforms ruin the view. You might think 10 miles is far away but it isn’t, they are completely visible from the beach. Anyone who has ever been to Dauphin Island, AL can tell you how ugly the sight of a bunch of oil rigs off the beach is. Florida is the only Gulf state that doesn’t have the industrial view, so it appeals to more tourists which brings in more money.

#2 is hurricanes. Hurricanes have a tendency to knock the oil rigs loose and they often wash up on shore which shuts down the lucrative beaches and costs a fortune to remove. This was a problem for AL, MS, and LA during the hurricane seasons of 2004 and 2005.

#3 is the military. The northern Gulf is used for military training, weapons development and testing by the Navy and the Air Force. Pensacola Naval Air Station, Eglin, Hurlburt, and Tyndall Air Force bases are all on the panhandle, as well as some smaller air fields. Having to dodge a slew of oil rigs would impede their missions.

I live in Michelle Bachmann territory, I guess that means my hood will never see so much as a penny of the stimucrap.

It’s a cultural thing…from my observation, about 3/4 are very loud and boisterous, (though certainly not all trouble) and the other 1/4 are the complete opposite.

You can usually assume that when democrats (from Clinton, to Pelosi, to Dear Leader Obama) promise to be ethical, they will instead set new records for corruption.

Why? Because they know the news media will run the coverup operation FOR them. If not for Druge and the newly popular Internet, we’d have never known about Lewinsky, for example, none of the dead tree or teleprompter reading media was going to touch it.

Thankfully, the only ‘foreign’ plates we see on the South Plains are New Mexico ones, which is normal, as we’re near the state lines. Lubbock is closer for a lot of them than Alb or Santa Fe.
