This is a great ad. Republicans must use the words “checks and balances” throughout the campaign for congress. This one phrase attracts moderates like surrender attacks liberals. Pelosi took back congress using this phrase and it is time for republicans to stop trying to reinvent the wheel and do the same.

Uh, Earth to Ed. The RSC ad is based on the now total of 60, repeat 60, Democrat senators. Thus, the Dems now have, theoretically, a filibuster proof majority. When the ad refers to checks and balances it means that in the Senate the Republicans no longer have the ability slow down the Dems runaway legislative train. This statement “it amounts to the same thing, just as it did from 2001-6, we should recall”, which seems to imply that the Republicans were once in a similar position” is false. The Republicans never controlled more than 55 seats during that period. As long as conservative spokespersons continue to write as if “we were (are) just as bad as they were (are)” the American taxpayer will continue to be searching in vain for those who are prepared to play the political hardball necessary to take down Obama and his nefarious crew.

Answered your own question… On a lighter note, his winning highlights the fact that it’s all just a bad joke, and I no longer have to search for serious meaning in anything that government does.

While the audio is suitably dramatic in this ad. I would posit that audio of the actual Franken diatribes would exclimate the point to better effect.

The utter non-sense that has spewed outta Franken over the years is a gold mine that should not be wasted!

Nelsa – I have been relentless in contacting Senator Cornyn’s (my Senator) office to try and drive some sense into them. It seems that Cornyn accepts the premise that the GOP is the “mean party” and will accept any RINO running, as long as they are RINOs. That way, the staterun media and the democRATs will focus on other things (until it comes time to destroy the RINOs that Cornyn has endorsed).

I’m not happy about our NRSC “leadership”. Someone near Washington, please find a spine for these cowards and present it to them.

If we do nothing about the education system in this country, we can make all the political adds we want, and it won’t make a difference. Frankly, after reading comments at the other sites linked from the headlines, etc, I think we are already too far gone. Too many indoctrinated idiots have the right to vote. It would take a miracle to turn the tide at this point. Fortunately, I believe in miracles, but more people better start praying for it.

An unheralded part of the Republicans platform, should they retake power, should be the immediate defunding of all liberal programs and organizations. Republicans need to play a little political payback. They keep bringing knives to gun fights. Slash education spending. Get government totally out of health care while limiting liability lawsuits. Slash government agencies to the bone. They’re filled with libs anyway, who will do everything they can to thwart a conservative agenda. So get rid of them. However groups like ACORN and Planned Parenthood get federal money, END!
Republicans have to stop being afraid of the media hue and cry.
Liberals have no problems instantly over-turning decades of Republican programs, tax breaks etc. as soon as they get in. Republicans should have the same attitude towards liberal programs. END SOCIAL SECURITY! END MEDICARE and MEDICAID. End those programs and you’ll strip tremendous power from the government.
But it’ll take true will. Or failing that, RHAM it through in the dead of night. Use the economic crisis to our benefit! We can play by their rules too.
Oh, and since the libs have been putting alot of our guys in the political morgue lately, its about time, we did the same to them.

This is the NRSC we’re talking about. If they stand for anything at all, it’s themselves. They want you to vote for the R team because, hey, it’s got an “R” in it, and not out of any expectation that they’ll actually represent your principles, which they don’t share.

As long as republicans behave exactly like democrats, ie; pandering, venal, corrupt folk who believe they are God’s gift to the country, they will only win because the other side is far more pandering, venal, corrupt and puffed up with self importance. The party needs leaders, honest non compromising leaders…Not last elections retreads but new folk.
