Video: Inhofe to dig into EPA head over suppressed report
posted at 5:05 pm on July 7, 2009 by Ed Morrissey
Senator James Inhofe plans a robust round of questioning when the head of the EPA appears before the Senate. Inhofe has picked up the cause of Alan Carlin, a 30-year employee of the federal agency, whose report questioning the science behind the global-warming theory was ignored by the Obama administration and the EPA. Carlin said that agency told him to stop questioning policy, and Inhofe wants to know why:
Anthony Watts has more inconvenient questions, noting that June 2009 temperatures were lower than any June in the last 50 years. Bruce McQuain connects the dots on the data.

Obama better pray that the Democrats hold onto Congress because there are so many landmines awaiting him if the Republicans get subponea power.

No need to question science. That’s been going on for decades with the myth of evolution.
Science=critical thinking=go along with the crowd, never question.
Jeff from WI on July 7, 2009 at 5:09 PM
He looks like a mean Republican.
That’s what those meanies do…talk about things that are soooo complicated and nobody cares, anyway.
I bet he cheats on his wife, like all those Republicans.
He only cares about rich people, not single moms and teenagers who desperately need sex-change operations and undocumented workers who need healthcare and good, reliable public transportation.
guntotinglibertarian on July 7, 2009 at 5:11 PM
Hey, the scientists voted on it, and reached a consensus. Once science is voted on, it becomes a fact. That’s what I heard, anyway.

Comparing the unproven science of global warming with the proven science of evolution is apples and oranges and isn’t relevant to the bogus climate change crap.

Actually, the sharia-approved method of execution for gays is to build a tall wall of brick or stone and then push it onto them. In a pinch, if your Mooslim brothers are too busy praying with their noses up each other’s butts or honor-killing their daughters, you are allowed to throw gays out off of a tall building.
Stoning is for adulterers.

That’s some statement…comming from a guy who’s knowledge of God and the Universe most likely comes from the rantings of some anonymous, goat-herding primitives who were probably lucky to live to the ripe old age of 40 due to poor personal hygiene and general ignorance.
…just saying.
Global warming legislation is a big, wealth transferring sham. No doubt about that. But it would be a whole lot easier to argue against if people like you, who don’t know anything about science past what they read on the Discovery Institute web site, would quit trying to help out by argue the scientific merits of it.
Those of us who actually understand how science works think you’re anti-evolutionary, science as the enemy stance is a joke. That you’ll never understand why doesn’t make your blathering any less sad. The fact that you’ll be more than happy to use the same shallow examination of the evidence when confronting global warming, since you don’t know any better, and then push that gibberish out at the public as “our” argument is why we’re probably going to loose this fight.
You don’t have to be a scientific knowledge denying fundie to be a conservative! Nor do you have to be one to think global warming isn’t as bad as the left makes it out to be. God does not need to be part of your argument for it to make sense.

Pope John Paul II on (Darwin’s) evolution
In a major statement of the Roman Catholic Church’s position on the theory of evolution, Pope John Paul II has proclaimed that the theory is “more than just a hypothesis” and that evolution is compatible with Christian faith. In a written message to the Pontifical Academy of Sciences, the pope said the theory of evolution has been buttressed by scientific studies and discoveries since Charles Darwin. “It is indeed remarkable that this theory has progressively taken root in the minds of researchers following a series of discoveries made in different spheres of knowledge”‘, the pope said in his message Wednesday. “The convergence, neither sought nor provoked, of results of studies undertaken independently from each other constitutes, in itself, a significant argument in favor of this theory“.
The Pope’s message went much further in accepting the theory of evolution as a valid explanation of the development of life on Earth, with one major exception: the human soul. “If the human body has its origin in living material which preexists it, the spiritual soul is immediately created by God”, the Pope said.

My favorite Al Gore quote from an interview he did with Grist.org:
So, it’s ok to LIE to get people to agree with you. Got it. Oh yeah, that is what Obama and his liberal ilk do everyday — including the media!
Well, there you go now.
lovedinthekeys on July 7, 2009 at 6:10 PM
“What’s this?” thought Barack Obama. “I can feel nothing warmer at all! That is terrible. Am I stupid? Am I a flat-earther? Am I a denier? Am I not fit to be President? That would be the most dreadful thing that could happen to me. “Oh, it is very hot!” Obama said aloud. “It has my highest approbation.” And Obama nodded in a contented way, and gazed outside, for he would not say that he felt no Global Warming. The whole entourage that he had with him looked and looked, and felt no warming, any more than the rest; but, like Barack Obama they said, “It is so hot!” and Rahm Emanuel counseled him to always say that he felt hot when he was out in public, even hotter than all the Chicago troubles were making them both feel. “It is warm, hot even!” went from mouth to mouth. On all sides there seemed to be general warming, and Barack Obama gave Al Gore the title of Imperial Master of Global Warming Science.
So Barack Obama went in procession, and every one in the streets said, “How incomparable hot it is! What a hot day it is!” No one would let it be perceived that he could not feel warming, for that would have shown that he was not fit for his office, or was very stupid or a flat-earther or a denier. No day of Barack Obama’s had ever been as hot as this one.
“But I’m freezing my ass off out here!” a little child cried out at last. “Just hear what that innocent says!” said the father: and one whispered to another what the child had said. “But it is cold out here!” said the whole people at length. That touched Barack Obama, for it seemed to him that they were right; but the thought within himself was, “I must go through with feeling all the Global Warming. I do not dare to do otherwise” And so he held himself a little higher, and his aides held on tighter than ever, and proclaimed the Global Warming which did not exist at all.

One month of cooling taken outside a broader context does not disprove Anthropogenic Global Warming any more than a few years of warming taken outside a broader context proves it. Bad science is not the antidote to bad science, and skepticism and denial are not the same things.

nukemhill on July 7, 2009 at 7:50 PM
In the beginning…
Jeff from WI on July 7, 2009 at 7:58 PM
But the skeptics aren’t the ones collapsing those two words–AGW fear-mongers are. There are enormous reasons to be skeptical of AGW. The data sucks; the mathematical models used to analyze the data are, at best, unproven, and at worst, intentionally misleading; the computer code used to implement the algorithms is a disaster, and the climatologists who are generating this code are unwilling to follow standards established by the government that demand clear documentation and theoretical justifications for their assumptions.
AGW has fallen flat on its face. There is absolutely no justification for the claims that Al Gore and his minions are making. None. But the opportunity to take even further control over peoples’ lives and the economy is simply irresistible to the Left. Thus the demonization of anyone who challenges the orthodoxy. We are not skeptics, we are deniers. We are in thrall to Big Oil. We are anti-science.
Bullshit. AGW is not about science. It never was. It is about politics. And those who love freedom and liberty have lost this political battle, I fear. The Left’s rhetoric has overwhelmed reason. To all of our detriment.
