[...] There is plenty of access to quality healthcare for various levels of income. It may not be 100% perfect, but it’s pretty darn good. So why do we want to make pretty darn good into really friggin bad? Why do we want to wait months for pap smears and CT scans? Why do we want to railroad seniors it to not getting care because they would not be considered priorities? Why would we give up timely treatment of cancers and arthritis and other diseases that, as of now, have a high recovery rate in this country? Here’s a good primer on what is wrong with socialized medicine: http://hotair.com/archives/2009/07/07/state-run-health-care-by-the-numbers/. [...]

I never said our system is better then yours.
I am not really bothered what type of health care you have in the U.S. Obviously it is up to you.

It's how the N.H.S is been misrepresented.

You are getting muddled up with, entitlements and health. The views on the welfare system is different .

There is lazy scum here, who try to milk the system(10 kids ,8 dads,no job),nobody agrees that they deserve a house and an income from the tax payer.

I don't know anyone that hasn't earned their way through life.We do have a work ethic here.

Health is different

It is not 'the right' to health care ,it's health not based on ability to pay.

To lose your family, your house never mind your life when you become ill is shocking to us.
To not be able to start medication because you can't afford, is a bit daft.

Children that have irresponsible parent's deserve help, this benefit's us all in the future.
Childrens immunization has dropped in the U.S during the recession.
This is leading to increased cases of measles, that in turn will affect others.

This isn't big government or left wing policy. We whine about it,like we do about the weather.

To abuse the British people for an organisation that is supported here.
By posters who have no real knowledge of,or want to have any information about it, but still want to judge.

In a democracy policy reflects society. It's about humanity
and a good moral fibre.

The problem isn't ignorance,it's the illusion of knowledge.

To abuse the British people for an organisation that is supported here.
By posters who have no real knowledge of,or want to have any information about it, but still want to judge.

In a democracy policy reflects society. It’s about humanity
and a good moral fibre.

The problem isn’t ignorance,it’s the illusion of knowledge.

<blockquote>Do people really believe there is nothing negative with the U.S system?

So, our system has to be perfect or it MUST be replaced with yours, which DOESN'T have to be perfect.

I'm willing to accept your 8.6 weeks claim on its face. I'm just not so sure you should be bragging about it.

Of course, there's another core difference of ideas here. You seem to be acting underthe assumption that medical care is a right, and Americans are somewhat baffled as to how the idea of "rights" has been so stretched as to be paper-thin - a "natural right" to high-tech drugs or an MRI?

How did humanity ever survive to the invention of these things?

Your ending comment illustrates the core of the "healthcare crisis" mentality: "The perfect is the enemy of the good."

I work in the N.H.S ,have done for twenty years but i don't just blindly support it.

I work in a foundation hospital,we compete for patients, sell our service's to other hospital's including those in the private sector. The money goes back into the hospital.

96% of hospital's have met its “18 weeks” waiting time target, whereby patients referred from a GP for further treatment start that treatment within 18 weeks

The average wait for treatment for patients admitted to hospital is now 8.6 weeks. Outpatients waited an average of 4.6 weeks at January 2009.
http://www.dh.gov.uk/en/Publicationsandstatistics/Statistics/Performancedataandstatistics/18WeeksReferraltoTreatmentstatistics/index.htm

The clock starts when the hospital receives the patient’s referral letter from their GP or when the patient books their own hospital appointment via the electronic Choose and Book system.

http://www.chooseandbook.nhs.uk/
France and Sweden's system's are probably better then ours.

I don't understand why it's ok for million's of children to be without insurance.

<blockquote>Actually it’s an excellent one sided summation. Too bad we can’t have a complete picture drawn in this debate.

Actually, it's a debunking of the one-sided summation that's being thrust at us by a compliant and corrupt MSM and a grasping political elite.
