Thirty years ago next Sunday, I left a small town in central KS and headed to basic training in San Antonio. The high temp the day I left KS was 105 deg. When I arrived in San Antonio, the high temp was 98 deg. The forecast hi temps for both on Sunday are 97 deg.

14k years ago, the great lakes were mostly under an ice sheet more than a mile thick. Only parts of lake michigan and what is now lake erie were not covered by the glacier

What is the point of all this stuff anyway? It really doesn’t make sense unless there is a great deal of money involved all around. That should be enough I guess but why destroy our country?

Readers may recall Maddow’s attempt on October 20, 2008, late in the election cycle last fall to turn Godwin’s Law on its ideological head, with her own proposed corollary:

MADDOW: On the Internet machine, there‘s something called “Godwin’s Law.” Godwin’s Law holds that roughly speaking, the longer an online discussion goes on, the more likely that it is that someone is going to compare something to Nazis. The principle is that when you run out of substantive things to say, but you still feel very strongly about something, you embarrass yourself and spoil your own credibility by making a totally over the top, predictable, inappropriate accusation. It’s like Hitler.

I hereby propose a similar adage, not for online discussions but for American politics. I hereby submit, that the longer it’s clear that liberals or Democrats are going to win an election, the longer it‘s clear that liberals and Democrats are winning an argument, the more likely it becomes that someone is going to get called a “commie,” “socialist,” “Bolshevik,” “commie,” “pinko,” “comrade,” “five-year planner.”

Here’s the thing about Godwin’s Law with people invoking Hitler online. And it‘s just as true as the communist accusation in American politics. It is, most of all, an embarrassment to the person making the accusation. No one who’s not an actual Nazi is like a Nazi.

Barack Obama is not a communist. Cutting taxes is not a socialist plot. You’re just embarrassing yourself now.

Well, now people are increasingly coming to believe that Obama really is a socialist, thus to that extent, debunking her corollary – though NOT Godwin’s Law.

However, I believe that Al Gore – “brainchild” that he is — may be incorrectly assuming that Godwin’s Law is likewise in disrepute.

The Times of London, however, believes that quite the opposite is true. Godwin’s Law is still valid, and so they are quickly attempting to cover up all evidence of his embarrassing faux pas.

But that action, in itself, is nearly as stupid because it quite clearly violates bromide number one of the Rules of Nixonian Consequences – i.e., “It’s not the crime; it’s the cover-up!”

So what may be called for now is new statement, or rhetorical truism, one that would take into account, or at least acknowledge, what seems to be the increasing frequency of Al Gore’s wacky eruptions, in the context of data suggesting that global warming and climate change theories to date, if not outright hokum, are at least riven with irresponsible bloviations coming from that man.

Just as a suggestion, perhaps a “Law of Gorean Inverse Proportion” –- the quantity of emerging scientific data and evidence either contradicting, or minimizing anthropological global warming theory, or alarmist climate change predictions, is inversely proportional to Al Gore’s ability to just shut up and retool.

Rahm Emanuel’s other brother (not the foul mouthed agent) is deciding who gets special treatment under Obamacare and who does not. A criteria exists for those who “contribute.” While this is supposedly for organ donors (of course you are dead most of the time you donate organs so perhaps this is for your family) could it also apply to those who “contribute” in other ways? Time will tell.
