Last Friday I received my Tennesse Handgun Carry Permit; hooray. In Tennessee, one does not need to own a handgun to get a permit. Yes, there is no state registration law, no pre-approval (except for Fedaral Law), and I do not know of a municipalty that has a waiting period.

Tennessee, the place for me!

There would be NO record in Tennessee of a purchase of a handgun from a private owner because it is legal to sell a firearm, person to person. Under FEDERAL law in USC 18, a person MUST be 21 to purchase a handgun, McNair’s girlfriend was 20, thus another crime committed with an ILLEGAL FIREARM.

The AP reported that McNair’s girlfriend was in possession of a handgun REGISTERED in her name. THERE IS NO REGISTRATION OF HANDGUNS IN TENNESSEE!

My prayers for Steve and his family.

He was an asset to the Nashville community and his non profit work including his great summer camps benefited hundreds and hundreds of kids.

He was gracious with his time and his money.

Regardless of his poor choices in his personal life, he will be missed here.

Is anyone surprised of more ignorance on the FACTS from a newspaper here? There is no, and never has been, a ” GUN CULTURE “. It simply dosen’t exist just like there is no ” COIN CULTURE, or ” CAR CULTURE ” or any other “”"CULTURE”" of people who collect “things”.

As far as I can tell the age limits on buying and selling firearms are federal law. A person under the limit can not buy a gun, and it is illegal to sell them one period. A person under the age limit can be gifted a firearm by someone in their family (if they are not a felon or otherwise prohibited). Link
