And now, just to be fair, the other side of the argument. Posted without editorial comment; you already know my opinion as someone who had never written a post critical of Palin before yesterday, and if you don’t, feel free to click on the links in the Top Picks column. Mary Matalin offers this analysis, transcript via Crooks & Liars:
MATALIN: Well, I think it’s really brilliant, with two caveats, one being that there’s nothing else, ala the Sanford fiasco. There’s nothing else that we don’t know. If all that’s there is what we see right now, it’s brilliant.
And, secondly, that she has a plan and people have a plan to put up with the conventional wisdom, chatterati and the political class saying how stupid it is, because it’s brilliant.
On the substance, there’s the key economic issue — I know everyone says — thinks it’s health care, but it’s really energy. And she’s the queen of energy.
And the second big issue for 2012 will be the role of government. And she has a record of reform and ethics reform and making government smaller and reigning in spending — all those issues that are getting increasingly important as Barack Obama expands on his agenda.
So — and her delivery was incredible — a charis — a less charismatic person probably couldn’t pull it off. But as — as already referenced, she will be freed up and liberated in the way Mitt Romney is here to run around and raise money and get political chips by spending it and get political capital. And she is still raising the kinds of crowds and money that she always did.

Update: My caveat in the opening paragraph wasn’t about getting “beat up”; I’m a big boy, and I can take honest criticism. It’s correcting the falsehood in the comment strings that I’ve been a Palin-hater. If people actually read what I’ve written about Palin over the past year, nothing could be further from the truth. I’m going to give people my honest opinion, no matter what.
As for using the clip from C&L, er, so what? This segment is from CNN. I couldn’t find it on YouTube or on CNN’s site when I had a few minutes to post. Someone asked me if I would be fair and post Matalin’s defense after our criticism of Palin, and I posted what I could find of it.

You have got to be kidding me!!! Have you not seen what has happened to the unemployment rate since that turkey took office? The gargantuan, put it on the kids and grandkids tab, “Stimulus” was suppose to keep it under 8%. Not to mention his shredding of the Constitution. Not to mention his support for tyrants in Iran and Honduras. Etc., etc, etc and more etc.

As for healthcare, I have posted on that issue on healthcare threads already. I don’t really like to argue pointlessly, so it’s not necessary to go into it.

Quicjk question anninCa how do you compete with a business that doesn’t need to make a profit, has an endless supply of money to destroy your profit margin and can and will write regulations and laws to drive you out of business if somehow you survive the first two attacks?
answer you can’t and you won’t. a single payer helathcare system will drive private healthcare out of business and once private healthcare is gone so is the advances in medicine, the new drugs, the new machines like MRI’s etc.
You like of the public plan is sentencing every americian to a healthcare system that can only cope with the mandane and it is sentencing americians to a younger death.
Obama quote if you are old and towrads your death why give you an operation instead of a pain pill.
cap and trade is a nice jewel for the dems but healthcare is what they really want.

If unemployment isn’t peaking, then he’ll have trouble, for sure.
Most everyone I know knew that the stockmarket crash was the beginning. Unemployment would be next. He said the same.
So unless this is deepening right now, it’s still not viewed as “his” problem.
I do agree that the stimulus did zip to help jobs.

I share I’m for public option only to keep honest. I don’t agree with the conservative agenda 100%.

He’s wrong about a lot of things. Don’t take my word just watch and learn. Mr Obama is skillful at saying what he wants you to hear; example everybody is talking about deficits now right? so he incorporates that term in speeches. So when he speaks you hear him say he’s worried about the increasing deficits; he doesn’t tell you that in 6 months he’s on track to quadrupling the deficits inherited from GW via Stimulus, pokulus, One trillion plus Healthcare. Let me share a simple formula that I use with President Obama; I listen to him but more importantly, I watch what he does. Goodnight

I agree she has weaknesses in grasp of the issues and experience. And she doesn’t appear to have helped herself these last couple of days. It’s just that we appear to be bereft of good leadership choices. I kinda like Mitt, but he seems almost as wooden as John Kerry or Al Gore (although he’s infinitely smarter). You have to have a little charisma to win in ’12. Sarah seems to have some of that; she just needs to polish up on some of the issues.

Or maybe not. This thought occurred to me today. We were innundated with issues in the last election. I thought, personally, McCain wiped the floor with Obama on issues.
Perhaps his depth of knowledge didn’t help. I know Hillary was, by far, the most well-prepared on that front. It didn’t help her.

Well, remember, I’ve been with them for years. And my friends who also have gone to probably the top doctors in the country for various stuff always share pretty much the same thing.
The Kaiser docs are well-respected and known within the various specialities. Nobody in the “elite” circled disses them at all.
Now, I’m not talking about every Kaiser doctor. I’m talking about their own big names.
It’s a small world, MB. These guys know who is and isn’t any good. And the Kaiser guys are top drawer, too.
You just have to make sure you get with one of them. But that’s true in private circles, too.
There are plenty of private “hack” docs out there.
