Happy Independence Day!

Two hundred and thirty-three years ago today, a group of men published a document that changed the world forever — and transformed a series of colonies clinging to a shoreline into a nation that not only led people into freedom by example, but also by shedding our blood to liberate hundreds of millions around the world. We have made our mistakes, and continually strive to overcome our flaws. However, we take this one day to celebrate the singular accomplishment of July 4, 1776, which not only set America on course to end tyranny over the colonies on this side of the Atlantic, but whose principles have set the stage for liberty around the world.
Here are the words that shook the thrones of tyrants and to this day haunt the days of despots:
When in the Course of human events it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature’s God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation.
We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. — That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, — That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness. Prudence, indeed, will dictate that Governments long established should not be changed for light and transient causes; and accordingly all experience hath shewn that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed. But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security. — Such has been the patient sufferance of these Colonies; and such is now the necessity which constrains them to alter their former Systems of Government. The history of the present King of Great Britain is a history of repeated injuries and usurpations, all having in direct object the establishment of an absolute Tyranny over these States. To prove this, let Facts be submitted to a candid world.
He has refused his Assent to Laws, the most wholesome and necessary for the public good.
He has forbidden his Governors to pass Laws of immediate and pressing importance, unless suspended in their operation till his Assent should be obtained; and when so suspended, he has utterly neglected to attend to them.
He has refused to pass other Laws for the accommodation of large districts of people, unless those people would relinquish the right of Representation in the Legislature, a right inestimable to them and formidable to tyrants only.
He has called together legislative bodies at places unusual, uncomfortable, and distant from the depository of their Public Records, for the sole purpose of fatiguing them into compliance with his measures.
He has dissolved Representative Houses repeatedly, for opposing with manly firmness his invasions on the rights of the people.
He has refused for a long time, after such dissolutions, to cause others to be elected, whereby the Legislative Powers, incapable of Annihilation, have returned to the People at large for their exercise; the State remaining in the mean time exposed to all the dangers of invasion from without, and convulsions within.
He has endeavoured to prevent the population of these States; for that purpose obstructing the Laws for Naturalization of Foreigners; refusing to pass others to encourage their migrations hither, and raising the conditions of new Appropriations of Lands.
He has obstructed the Administration of Justice by refusing his Assent to Laws for establishing Judiciary Powers.
He has made Judges dependent on his Will alone for the tenure of their offices, and the amount and payment of their salaries.
He has erected a multitude of New Offices, and sent hither swarms of Officers to harass our people and eat out their substance.
He has kept among us, in times of peace, Standing Armies without the Consent of our legislatures.
He has affected to render the Military independent of and superior to the Civil Power.
He has combined with others to subject us to a jurisdiction foreign to our constitution, and unacknowledged by our laws; giving his Assent to their Acts of pretended Legislation:
For quartering large bodies of armed troops among us:
For protecting them, by a mock Trial from punishment for any Murders which they should commit on the Inhabitants of these States:
For cutting off our Trade with all parts of the world:
For imposing Taxes on us without our Consent:
For depriving us in many cases, of the benefit of Trial by Jury:
For transporting us beyond Seas to be tried for pretended offences:
For abolishing the free System of English Laws in a neighbouring Province, establishing therein an Arbitrary government, and enlarging its Boundaries so as to render it at once an example and fit instrument for introducing the same absolute rule into these Colonies
For taking away our Charters, abolishing our most valuable Laws and altering fundamentally the Forms of our Governments:
For suspending our own Legislatures, and declaring themselves invested with power to legislate for us in all cases whatsoever.
He has abdicated Government here, by declaring us out of his Protection and waging War against us.
He has plundered our seas, ravaged our coasts, burnt our towns, and destroyed the lives of our people.
He is at this time transporting large Armies of foreign Mercenaries to compleat the works of death, desolation, and tyranny, already begun with circumstances of Cruelty & Perfidy scarcely paralleled in the most barbarous ages, and totally unworthy the Head of a civilized nation.
He has constrained our fellow Citizens taken Captive on the high Seas to bear Arms against their Country, to become the executioners of their friends and Brethren, or to fall themselves by their Hands.
He has excited domestic insurrections amongst us, and has endeavoured to bring on the inhabitants of our frontiers, the merciless Indian Savages whose known rule of warfare, is an undistinguished destruction of all ages, sexes and conditions.
In every stage of these Oppressions We have Petitioned for Redress in the most humble terms: Our repeated Petitions have been answered only by repeated injury. A Prince, whose character is thus marked by every act which may define a Tyrant, is unfit to be the ruler of a free people.
Nor have We been wanting in attentions to our British brethren. We have warned them from time to time of attempts by their legislature to extend an unwarrantable jurisdiction over us. We have reminded them of the circumstances of our emigration and settlement here. We have appealed to their native justice and magnanimity, and we have conjured them by the ties of our common kindred to disavow these usurpations, which would inevitably interrupt our connections and correspondence. They too have been deaf to the voice of justice and of consanguinity. We must, therefore, acquiesce in the necessity, which denounces our Separation, and hold them, as we hold the rest of mankind, Enemies in War, in Peace Friends.
We, therefore, the Representatives of the united States of America, in General Congress, Assembled, appealing to the Supreme Judge of the world for the rectitude of our intentions, do, in the Name, and by Authority of the good People of these Colonies, solemnly publish and declare, That these united Colonies are, and of Right ought to be Free and Independent States, that they are Absolved from all Allegiance to the British Crown, and that all political connection between them and the State of Great Britain, is and ought to be totally dissolved; and that as Free and Independent States, they have full Power to levy War, conclude Peace, contract Alliances, establish Commerce, and to do all other Acts and Things which Independent States may of right do. — And for the support of this Declaration, with a firm reliance on the protection of Divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our Lives, our Fortunes, and our sacred Honor.

Addendum: The Daily Mail has an interesting article about the discovery of an original print of the Declaration discovered in a British archive. No one really knows how it got there, but it’s fun to speculate.

Just got back from a tea party on the historic Green in Morristown, NJ. Had the privilege of hearing Charles Payne speak and even getting to meet him. It was the best 4th ever!!!

also of note at the Morristown tea party were several veterans who spoke, one in particular was very inspiring, having served at the Fall of Saigon, Desert Storm and Desert Shield. God Bless America and God Bless and Protect our Troops.

I took my wife and daughter to the “Take Back America” party in Frederick,MD. Great turnout and my daughter got a real life civics lesson. It was a beautiful morning to celebrate Independance Day! We are sitting down for some bar-b-que and fireworks yhis evening. God Bless America and especially our brave men and women defending her around the world!

Frederic Bastiat wrote “The Doctrine of the Democrats” in 1849, The Law.
You can also hear Obama’s DNC rhetoric exposed 150 years ago when Bastiat next attacks “The Socialist Concept of Liberty” in that the Socialists “assured us that
liberty leads inevitably to monopoly;
competition is a system that ruins the businessmen and exterminates the people;
competition leads to monopoly.”
Evidently, Bastiat’s contemporaries had much to say that we’re hearing again via Obama. I will substitute Obama’s name below for Mr. Louis Blanc, whom Obama’s TOTUS plagiarizes.
Socialists are vile pirates. They wait until OTHERS work and sacrifice to build a nation and civilization. Then the usurping Socialists enter stage left like a plague with their convoluted sophistries to steal our liberty in America as they managed elsewhere. Bastard is too good a word for them.
Vote out everyone complicit in higher debt, higher spending and higher taxes, those who voted for any bail-out, INCLUDING comprehensive immigration reform and nationalized health care. Wipe out the corruption by wiping the dirty slate clean. These guys do not listen to us, their voting constituents! These guys do not read before they vote! Kick them all out of Washington; that is our only recourse. Their “experience” is corruption.

Other than marking the historical occasion, I see little in the current branding of “America” to celebrate. The land mass doesn’t matter, but the ideals under which its citizens survive. To that end, as the fireworks and festivities perpetuate the fraud that all is business as usual, this passage of the Declaration is well worth reflecting upon:

God bless our troops who have really given us the freedoms we enjoy. May we not give these hard-fought freedoms away, but fight the tyranny abroad and here at home as well. We attended the Tea Party in Broken Arrow OK today. Hope the next one is in DC and that we storm the capitol in September!

I just watched part of a program about the founding fathers. I thought that is was going to be program celebrating the founding of this country. But alas, this program through innuendo and speculation, projected the founding fathers as a bunch of drunks and drugheads. One of the commenting “experts” was a marijuana proponent and another was an academic who labeled the founders as “terrorist”, ect…. Needless to say, when I saw where it was going I turned it off. The left really does hate this country.

Cool. I went Two Tea-Parties in CA. What a blast. I got to meet many normal people. My voice is shot from all the yelling at LibTards as they drove by dumbfounded.
I told a few of them that they didn’t have the proper tire inflation so we will have to drill for our own oil after all. They appeared confused.
And I told a few other drive-by-libs to read my teleprompter (the sign I made) and they took that as an insult. Which is what I had intended.
Some flipped me the bird at which point I pulled out my picture of Obama giving Hillary the Bird and showed them that. They were not amused, but I was.
It is very easy to outsmart the obots.

Oh I hope you got to watch their series on “The Presidents”. It’s even more innuendo and rewriting of history with a very special focus on Cater, Reagan, Bush, Clinton, Bush and of course, Obama.
According to the History Channel, Cater was a saint, Reagan was a bumbling fool, Bush 1 was an idiot, Clinton was a genius, Bush 2 was a spoiled child and Obama is a savior.
So much for history according to the History Channel.

Take Heart. If you can someway make your way to a TEA-party it will surely help you cope. I went to 2 today and it was very uplifting and cathartic. What could be more fun than yelling back at angry libs. They couldn’t believe that conservatives had the temerity to actually assemble for a peaceful protest.
And armed with a sign of your own design you can let Truth do the talking. Just google Socialism and browse the images. Print out the images and slogans and paste them to a 20inch by 30inch foam board. You can get them a staples. That’s it. Or just show up by yourself or with a friend with some kind of T-shirt on. That’s it.
I spoke with many elderly Americans and it was shear joy hearing their concerns and sharing stories with them.

Hmmm…not to be cynical or anything, but is this #thankyouaaron thing more making him a symbol/microcosm for the troops, and that this “blake” poster nor David Masters on twitter is related to them at all? In that case, great, way to spread a message of gratitude for the troops. But people are gonna feel pretty pissed and misled thinking YOUR story was true. If I’m wrong, sorry, but it seems very, VERY odd that one could lose a son and be hanging out on the internet talking about it.

I am not certain but I would surmise that Blake did not mean to say that it was his son. That was just the name from the link.

My apologies then — though everyone on HotAir took it that way. It also sounds like the story checks out (I never had any doubt “Aaron existed” just if this marketer on twitter was legit). Sounds like he’s the step dad. Still really weird to me you’d be hanging out on twitter, seemingly emotionless. Heartbreaking no doubt, and I share the same thoughts and feeling you all do. Though it’s nice to see something like that reach top trending topics on Twitter — not all is lost in our world. #thankyouaaron, and all the aaron’s out there. Yes, David Masters is Aaron Fairbairn’s step father and he was the one who posted the bad news on his twitter account. The name for the link “On Independence Day, a few hours ago, they killed my son, Aaron in Afghanistan.” were the words of David Masters. I would think that Blake is not David Masters, he just used David Masters’ words as the link name and a lot of folks “assumed” that the words were Blake’s own. At least this is how it all looks to me.

Care Packages
In today’s politics the liberals play a game of semantics that they alone are good at. Of course, this is really no compliment. In short, they will use their most convenient definition to label us with the aim of marginalizing us and marginalizing our very purpose.
The label they love to use, that I love to hate with all my heart is chickenhawk. For those not familiar with the term, it comes from a book written by a fellow warrant officer about his exploits in Viet Nam. He tried to convey the struggle of emotions that are required to put your head down in the most horrendous of conditions, where fear can paralyze the very soul and still be able to charge forward. He said that he was a chicken, he was a hawk, he was a chickenhawk. Liberals ignore the authors purpose of the term and simply call anyone who supports a conflict, chickenhawk. If they have not served in a capacity militarily, liberals will say they don’t warrant the right to even comment. But your military knows the difference. And we know not all can serve for a myriad of reasons.
So, I come here today to talk about care packages. I’ve heard everyone from Bill Maher to Randi Rhoades say that many American “chickenhawks” feel like they’ve earned the right to support the war based solely on their ability to put together cards and letters and an occasional care package for the troops; as if this were meaningless.
I flew for five hours yesterday in indian country in RC South here in Afghanistan. The FOBs I supported required an Apache gunship for CAS because of the threat you might find in the area. The sun from briefing and preflight to the actual five hours in the seat sap the very strength and soul out of you. The tension of operating heavy helicopters into and out of these small bases in high elevations and high heat is dangerous enough in itself. Add in the possibility of ground fire on short final and you have all the makings of a profession that can steal the very years from you. Our day though challenging, was uneventful in regards to the enemy. We didn’t see any and we didn’t hear reports of any from the places we landed that particularly worried us. What we did hear on the radios were the reports of other places our aviation brigade was supporting and that news was worse. A Wild Mustang aircraft was asked to fly to a FOB East of where we were to receive the remains of two young Americans who had died defending their FOB. A FOB that was peaceful and quiet the day I landed there earlier this week. There was radio traffic from a MEDEVAC who reported eight soldiers from another European country supporting the war had expired and no longer required MEDEVAC but support from other mission aircraft who can carry remains. You hear these calls and consider if you’re in a position in your mission where you could support “Hero Flights” to get these warriors started on their long journeys back to their loved one. You can’t always but you do always take a moment of silence in your aircraft and pay your respect to the fallen. Landing back at our base our entire crew helped to get the aircraft serviced and inspected for the next flight. We all worked together to clear the weapons and get all the gear back to the storage vans for the next time. Again, all of this in the blistering sun.
Typical day. ANd when you’re finally back at the CP, all that you can think of is the fatigue in your bones and the soreness in your muscles from being strapped to that aircraft for so long. You think about the ten you lost in different places and wonder about ten families who will soon find out the horror that you already know. And in the darkness of those times you think about all of those Americans back home who hate you for what your doing. The desire to concede is there in those moments.
I was like that yesterday. Wanting to find a place to be alone and share a bit of quiet escape, I went behind the trailer that serves as our CP. I couldn’t help but think about the dead and struggled to stay objective; until someone yelled my name asking where I was. Back in front I found our Detachment Commander with a box. He said he thought that one of the people I had told him about wanting to adopt us from this site had gotten a package through. We opened it to find small treasures. There were skin lotion and other toiletries. There were store bought snacks and homemade cookies. The were bags of candy and cans of nuts. In those boxes is every affirmation that you support us and believe in us. And at that very moment we remember what it is all for. What you all do with your time and money to provide us a care package is more meaningful to us than you will ever know. Never let any man or any woman try to make you think you don’t make a difference. Because the truth of the matter is that the biggest thing we get out of those boxes is the will to go on.

My husband was in Afghanistan in 2002, and their ability to access the Internet and emails was quite limited. I know things have changed in this regard but I don’t know how much–I wonder what kind of access you have there, and how often you are able to read what we write. I write this trusting you will receive it sometime soon.
I believe in you. We believe in you. So many more Americans admire, respect, and value your service than do not. Those who do not have greater access to the microphones, and the arrogance to ignore the fact that your sacrifices ensure the microphones still exist. But there are millions of us who remember you in our prayers and whose chests fill with pride at the very thought of you. There is a line in To Kill a Mockingbird that says, “There are some men in this world who were born to do our unpleasant jobs for us.” I do not believe you were born to do them–I believe you courageously stepped up and said, “Here am I.” From the depths of my soul, I thank you.

Aaron deserves our unanimous tribute. He fought for us all, not simply for his family. Our military to date has NEVER selectively protected only the “chosen” self appointed elitists. Aaron walked through the valley of the shadow of death and feared no evil. God is with Aaron; Aaron is with God. That we prove ourselves “good”, may God bless us with God in our hearts, that we be strengthened from within by the love of God and the love of all who suffer on our behalf, that we uphold what is good and right and precious.
