According to the FBI, there is no investigation.

Michelle needs to have a little talk with you about the difference between men and women. It isn't that one is right and one is wrong....but you need to know the difference. Do you realize that using the term "emotional" when referring to a woman is typical abuse that women have to deal with on a daily basis?

Not Emotional....sexist. Why is it that because it is a woman, you have to label her "emotional?"

I guess you didn't listen to what she said.

For what it’s worth, I’ve been hearing rumbling among the nutroots for months now that a major scandal was coming down the pike to torpedo Palin. I’ve never believed it and still don’t, but it’s marginally more credible today than it was yesterday so here’s the latest iteration. File it away for future reference or discard as you see fit.

Hey it looks like BradBlog will need a legal defense fund too:

To the extent several websites, most notably liberal Alaska blogger Shannyn Moore, are now claiming as “fact” that Governor Palin resigned because she is “under federal investigation” for embezzlement or other criminal wrongdoing, we will be exploring legal options this week to address such defamation. This is to provide notice to Ms. Moore, and those who re-publish the defamation, such as Huffington Post, MSNBC, the New York Times and The Washington Post, that the Palins will not allow them to propagate defamatory material without answering to this in a court of law. The Alaska Constitution protects the right of free speech, while simultaneously holding those “responsible for the abuse of that right.” Alaska Constitution Art. I, Sec. 5. http://ltgov.state.ak.us/constitution.php?section=1. These falsehoods abuse the right to free speech; continuing to publish these falsehoods of criminal activity is reckless, done without any regard for the truth, and is actionable.

Governor Sarah Palin

Good lord, sometimes there comes a politician that can make a bunch of zombies lose their minds...they'll defend this person no matter how silly she sounds, how big the missteps she takes, how ludicrous it is to even consider as a serious candidate.

Obama and Palin have something in common afterall!

If she's so sissy she can't take the heat as governor of Alaska, how on earth could she possibly handle the media and bogus complaints she'd get on a national level?

She's toast. She will never in a billion years become president. If she does, hell will freeze over, the world will end, and she won't have a chance to quit before her first presidential term is over, because the Lord himself will have shut things down. Let's move on a serious, credible candidate that doesn't quit when things get a little tough. If we stand behind Palin, we've got absolutely zero chance of taking back the White House.

Sarah is keeping the left even more clueless than normal driving them absolutely nuts. Did anyone catch that nuanced look on her face when speaking about what she's going to be doing? I know Women as I am one and this look says I'm going to kick your ass, chop your ass up and throw you in the garbage disposal. You know it might not be today, next week or even next year but victory will be mine and it will. She is pissed. Sarah is going to write a book and begin to heal up from the last year bringing in some money all the while submerging herself in forensic history Americana from the best instructors we have to offer. Three years is a long time and by 2012 Mitt might want to be pulled along as VP. Regardless, Mama Bear Sarah will be ready in 2012 that will shock this country. from Alaskan bumpkin to a force that will slash and shred her way onto that ticket either by way of the Republican Party or the party I and millions of other Conservative's have moved over to....Independent. As to deserting her constituents? I’d say any unnecessary judicial events where a single entity is the target which is bleeding the States coffers of $2.4 million and taking up 80% of that States leadership time with no end in sight, Palin made the correct move. As an attorney, she has at least 30 complaints that could be morphed into malicious prosecution efforts but fee retainer and time aspects would be insurmountable and prohibitive. This is not ordinary heat, this is multi layered unadulterated hate that is supported by a bottomless money snake pit of George Soros, Peter Lewis, Steve Bing et al., of which depths I have never seen in my 30 years of voting. Her qualities, values and judgment is congruent with my conservative values more than any other individual at the moment.

I see 11 articles on Sarah Palin today (July 4) why so many? She out did Obama 11-1. Why so much space to tell us she is done? What is it about Sarah that just drives left of center, Left, Far Left, Center, right of center crazy? I believe it is panic. She is someone who knows what she is doing, HAS done something in public life (unlike an un-named president) is smart as hell(unlike our vice president) can draw a big crowd of enthusiastic voters (unlike a recent Republican candidate). Yep, She is a WINNER! She is not part of the Party, just people like Colin Powell (Americans want bigger government, more taxes). Yep she can’t be a Republican because SHE IS A WINNER and Republicans are strictly for LOSERS!!!

I might answer that question if I had any idea what it was.

Jim Treacher on July 3, 2009 at 10:00 PM

I’ll rephrase my question then: After her erratic behavior displayed today you don’t question her ability to handle immense pressure?

Please explain erratic. You tend to put a lot of your own coloring in your questions that make them rather a straw man kind of question.
Let me be more clear. You have never liked her. You have always put her down in your posts. Erratic? How much more of a beating did the woman have to take before you would actually PRAISE her or appreciate exactly what it was that she meant to real conservatives and not an excuse bent Rino such as yourself?

I wonder why libtards like Sliverbrain are sobbing at the news of Palin's resignation? They seem to alternate between "I hope she runs - she's the best thing we Dems have going for us" and "I hate her so much, she needs to quit".

I never really bought into the notion that fear drives all liberal rants, but maybe it's true. Maybe those idiots are just really afraid of her?

I’ve got tears in my eyes. Tears of joy!

Terry Silver on July 3, 2009 at 6:28 PM

I do too, but for a different reason.

She's free to unleash on the Hollow Man's administration, or make the push for the GOP in 2010.

This is not good for Obama.

Your logic, is absent, along with your reading and comprehension skills. This isn't in any way related to the scenario you describe.

I believe that she has resigned to remove the ability of the Leftists to file ethics charge after ethics charge, all without any consequence to them, but with plenty of consequence (financially)for the Alaska taxpayer and herself.

She has removed the handle by which they have been jerking her around and pinning her down. She is now free to focus on building some unity and providing some leadership for the Republican Party. Will she run for President in 2012? I have no idea, but I bet she can be a big booster and fund raiser for other candidates.

Terryannonline, you say she can just use the money from her book sales to pay her mounting legal bills. Spoken like a true Leftist. Why should she be forced to throw her finances away on defending herself from scurrilous and frivolous lawsuits? I'm sure you'd be willing to do that if you were in her situation. Right? That's what I thought.

Again she could’ve easily pay for those battles from the money she is going to make from book sales. I believe her legal defense fund is doing good.

A fair point. I think most politicians would just say, "That's politics for you," and let the state deal with it.

I think that approach just seemed wrong to Palin. Besides, I think resigning as governor, much as it hurts, promises to her the ability to really campaign.

More than that, I think she sees that the greatest need in the country right now is to take back Congress in 2010. And she would be able to contribute nothing towards that if she is serving as governor.

Of course, she may not share my sense of urgency about the need to take control of Congress. But I suspect she does. And I have a feeling that once she's no longer governor, she'll start campaigning for a lot of Republicans in Congressional races.

As the campaign heats up for the 2010 elections, we should know how much of that is accurate, and how much is wishful thinking.

You are either a Leftist, or a Troll…but I repeat myself. The money in the State of Alaska’s Treasury belongs to the Alaskan Taxpayer, not to the State. The State government is entrusted to use that money wisely, defending the Governorship from serial and frivolous (please note the proper spelling) ethics lawsuits (this is known as Lawfare) is not an optimum use of the Taxpayers funds, even if they’re awash in money.

Regardless of what YOU find easy to believe or not, it was costing her money and the State of Alaska doesn’t (at this time) impose any consequences on filers of frivolous lawsuits. Go away, Troll.

By that logic, why don't we all just convert to Wahabbi Islam? That way, Al Qaeda won't want to kill us anymore and we can stop spending so much money on anti-terrorism stuff. All this does is embolden the complaint makers.

I’ll rephrase my question then: After her erratic behavior displayed today you don’t question her ability to handle immense pressure?

Sometimes I think that Palin is/was the only sane person left in politics.

Last I heard, she has millions (or something like that) in legal bills. Team Sarah sent around an email asking for donations.

My guess is that she's resigning so that the legal pressure can stop and she can really start fundraising (perhaps in the lower 48) for her bills. She may be Governor, but that job does not pay well enough to leave her with hundreds of thousands of dollars floating around.

P.S. Not to mention the time wasted in hearings.

Cuda: I'd like to make a visit to Texas, Oklahoma, and Nebraska, but I have to be in court on Tuesday.

So the money she could be using for a presidential campaign she should go ahead and use that for continual legal battles?

Guess what as a political leader you are going to deal with some legal battles and you have to be able to face them.
