I take this as a sign of just how incestuous the links between the press and the Administration have gotten. For them to be so bold shows us just how smitten they are. Like Governor Sanford and his Argentinian affair, they've met their soul mate and they just don't care what anybody thinks anymore.

Hey, politicians and WH officials were "guaranteed" to be there at the salons!

The word "guaranteed" is usually not used lightly by business people when the price of the product is $250K a pop! A few questions are in order:

1. How was the guaranteed presence of senior WH officials and elected representatives secured?

2. Was it perhaps understood that with this lucrative new revenue stream, WaPo executives would certainly be able to make some generous campaign contributions, whether in dollars, or "in kind" i.e., in the form of sympathetic coverage in the WaPo?

3. Will the DoJ direct the FBI to open an investigation into was seems to be prima facie evidence of influence peddling?

4. Who gave the White House officials the green light to partiicpate in these salons, in as much as the value of such a participation is clearly derived from their position in the administration, and to appear without such permission would obviously be a firing offense in any legitimate business or any other government agency?

5. Oh, and what were the names of the officals and elected officials whose presence and attention was being sold by the WaPo and purchased by the cusotmers?

I am just a dilletante at contriving questions to be asked by an investigative reporter, so I hope others will contribute interesting questions. Of course, the liklihood of the anyone in the media asking them would seem to be laughably short of "slim"!

OK, OK, perhaps it isn’t fair to call the Washington Post a pimp for the White House. Maybe it would be better to call this what it is — prostitution of the press in order to gain cash and sell itself out for access, both for itself and for its clients.

Wrong, Ed. There is this little gem of a paragraph in the Politico article — quoted from the Post advertisment:
“Underwriting Opportunity: An evening with the right people can alter the debate,” says the one-page flier. “Underwrite and participate in this intimate and exclusive Washington Post Salon, an off-the-record dinner and discussion at the home of CEO and Publisher Katharine Weymouth. … Bring your organization’s CEO or executive director literally to the table. Interact with key Obama administration and congressional leaders.“

So it’s not just the Democrats in the White House — it’s the ones in Congress too.

Wow. Our country's 'Press' has been reduced to this? And they only 'cancelled' the program once they got outed?

Okay. My shock and dismay has passed. That took about 2 seconds. That's how long it took to dawn on me that this should come as no surprise. It is, after all, the era of Obama and the first filibuster proof liberal Congress since Jimmy 'I-HATE-AMERICA' Carter was POTUS. I'm still getting used to this. But at the same time, it's like deja vous all over again.

Our 1st Amendment U.S. Constitutional Right to "Freedom of the Press" needs some serious reexamination. Similar to 'non-profit' entities that get tax exemptions if they stay within certain guidelines, the 'Press' should not enjoy the rights and privileges of our 1st Amendment if they're pimping 'Freedom' to off the record, non-confrontational access to “those powerful few” — Obama administration officials, members of Congress, and the paper’s own reporters and editors for a huge profit.

MY United States of America, it's reprobate 'elected' leaders, and our now newly nationalized press under Barackus Casear is becoming as disgusting and reprehensible as any 3rd world dictatorship run country.

Instead of opposing socialism, oppression, and fascism, my 'elected' government not only now condones it, they slather themselves with it, they roll around in it, and no doubt they are busy little bee's filling their pockets and off-shore accounts with it.

Happy 4th of July folks. Enjoy it and celebrate it while you can before it becomes a nationalized taboo to do so.

Wow. Our country’s ‘Press’ has been reduced to this? And they only ‘cancelled’ the program once they got outed?

Okay. My shock and dismay has passed. That took about 2 seconds. That’s how long it took to dawn on me that this should come as no surprise. It is, after all, the era of Obama and the first filibuster proof liberal Congress since Jimmy ‘I-HATE-AMERICA’ Carter was POTUS. I’m still getting used to this. But at the same time, it’s like deja vous all over again.

Our 1st Amendment U.S. Constitutional Right to “Freedom of the Press” needs some serious reexamination. Similar to ‘non-profit’ entities that get tax exemptions if they stay within certain guidelines, the ‘Press’ should not enjoy the rights and privileges of our 1st Amendment if they’re pimping ‘Freedom’ to off the record, non-confrontational access to “those powerful few” — Obama administration officials, members of Congress, and the paper’s own reporters and editors for a huge profit.

The pimps will just go to the side streets instead of putting out fliers on main street.
It is a win-win for Obama and the Washington Post. As such it will not stop. It will just go underground.
