Honduras thug: Help me, Barack Obama, you’re my only hope

America is with you, Chavista douchebag!
Deposed Honduran President Manuel Zelaya said he’s plotting his return to the Central American nation and called for “strong” action from the U.S. to help restore him to power.
“Their words are strong,” Zelaya said today during an interview in the lobby of the Sheraton hotel in Panama. “We’re going to see now if their actions are strong.”…
The U.S. has suspended some aid to Honduras while it evaluates whether the removal of Zelaya meets the definition of a military coup under American law.
“We’ve taken some actions to hit the pause button on assistance programs which we would be legally required to terminate” if it is found to have been a military coup, State Department spokesman Ian Kelly told reporters today in Washington…
Supreme Court Justice Rosalinda Cruz said in an interview yesterday that the military acted under judicial orders when it deposed Zelaya, rejecting the view of President Barack Obama and other leaders that he was toppled in a coup.
See Gateway Pundit for photos of Hondurans protesting The One’s useful idiocy. New president Roberto Micheletti was talking tough yesterday, vowing that the country won’t cede to pressure from anyone, but thanks to American leverage, he told reporters today he might consider holding a national referendum to bring back Zelaya (although not now). How that’s going to work when there are warrants outstanding against Zelaya for treason, drug trafficking, and organized crime is anyone’s guess, but what a fine chapter in U.S. foreign policy manuals this will eventually make. Between restoring Hugo Jr to power and today’s stimulus epic fail to prevent further job loss, let me offer a hearty “good work, Barry.”

Zelaya needs Ze Moron’s help.
I say we pitch in and get them both a month at the best newlywed retreat in Zimbabwe. Let Ze Moron roll over in bed and ask elaya what he needs to do.
Then we can arrest Ze Moron on his return to his adopted land of America, issue him his orange jumpsuit and send him to GITMO, where he will await his sentencing for the countless treasonous acts he’s committed in a short 5 months illegally occupying the office.
That works for me.

Zelaya wants to suspend the term limitations for the office he holds. Obama will definitely do the same so setting a precedent for this is critical to the path he wants to go. Honduras has a democratic form of government. For Obama to support a thug dictator is in serous conflict of the American rule of order. We refuse to “meddle” in an obvious rigged election, but will think of “meddling” with the democratic process of a democratic country. The trust of the American people is eroding at a accelerating pace for Obama.

Gotta love it, one day Obama tells the country that America will not mettle in the affairs of another nation (Iran), and the very next day he tells the country that it’s his job to mettle in the affairs of another nation (Honduras.)

Aside from the fact mentioned above (that it is Honduran Law that governs actions in Honduras) do we even have a definition under American Law of a coup? Do we have an American coup law? I’ve never seen anything like it. Did they mean the English definition of a coup (which is still incorrect)?

Dark-Star on July 2, 2009 at 8:53 PM
The Honduran military acted, pursuant to a court order from the Honduran Supreme Court, to remove from office a rogue president who had ordered an illegal referendum to extend his term of office, in direct and flagrant violation of the Honduran constitution. Rather than installing one of its own in the presidency, the Honduran military allowed the head of the Honduran legislature (who is the next in the line of succession to the presidency under the Honduran constitution) to take over the office of the president.
Obama and the other idiots in his administration have objected to the fact that the military ejected the Honduran president and deposited him outside the country. But it’s been reported that the Honduran constitution states that a president who violates the constitution loses not only the office of the presidency, but also loses his Honduran citizenship. Given that there is no dispute that Zelaya violated the constitution, what else should the Honduran military have done? Under their law, Zelaya was no longer president and no longer a citizen of Honduras. Ejecting him from both the presidency and the country was entirely appropriate. The fact that Americans might have handled the situation differently (e.g., impeachment, a trial, appeals, etc.) is irrelevant — or is Obama suggesting that our laws and culture are superior to those of the Hondurans? I thought we were supposed to be moving beyond that type of Yankee arrogance in our foreign policy?
AZCoyote on July 2, 2009 at 8:57 PM
Impeachment isn’t an option so long as Democrats have a death grip on Congress. I’m not advocating violence but the Hondurans seem to have the right idea. Surround the Presidential Palace and throw the ousted leader and his spoiled family on a plane while still wearing their PJs.

If by ‘any troops’ you mean a full-scale invasion like we did in Iraq or @$$crackistan, certainly not. Neither Obama nor the RINOs/Democrats in the government have the spine for that kind of decisive action.
But I would not put it past him to send in a smaller force to ‘reason’ with the Honduran government. Especially not if he can do it quietly enough. The media is still mostly in the tank for him should something go wrong, and he’ll have the support of several other dictator-run South American nations. Wouldn’t put it past him to try and rustle up a combined force with the deal being “US forces provide transport (maybe some long-range fire support too) and you guys do the dirty work”.

He wants the US military to re-install him, or provide support to the military of his leftist allies to re-install him, or at least not block such efforts. Any of these actions by Obama would be a travesty of justice and a very disturbing precedent.
My guess is there is a cultural divide in Honduras like there is in Iran and the US. I have no idea how many support Zelaya’s ouster. To me, that’s for the Hondurans to work out through their own constitutional means. I guess those pictures are also for the MSM to bury as they are not Obama-centric.
In some animal groups, an alpha male can provide advantages in competition for food, protection from predation, and group cohesion. In most human organizations, an alpha individual provides similar functions. In humans though, there are most often significant checks on the ability of the alpha individual to treat the members akin to slaves. This is less prominent among certain cultures and ideologies that seem to follow a far more animalistic approach.
I have no idea why they do, but leftists always seem to fall into the latter group, sometimes to the extreme. Perhaps it’s a lack of faith in or value for the sanctity of ingenuity of the individual human being.
Or, to be more precise: I don’t understand the left either.

“The people of Honduras have struggled too long to have their hard-won democracy stolen from them by a Chavez-style dictator. The Honduran Congress, the Honduran Supreme Court, and the Honduran military have acted in accordance to the Honduran constitution and the rule of law. [...]
“I am hopeful that as President Obama grows in office, he will eventually turn away from despots like Ahmadinejad, Chavez, Castro, and Zelaya, and give the United States’ full-throated support to the people of any country who are fighting for the same values we cherish and defend in America. The people fighting for freedom around the world, in Iran and Honduras, should never have to wonder which side America will choose between freedom and tyranny.
“President Obama’s call for the reinstatement of Zelaya is a slap in the face to the people of Honduras. And the resolution written by the Organization of American States tramples over the hopes and dreams of a free and democratic people.
“The rule of law is working in Honduras. President Obama should not undermine the democratic institutions that guarantee freedom by forcing an illegitimate President back into power.
