WH spokestool: We’re all about free elections and the “democratic process” — in Honduras

posted at 10:01 pm on July 1, 2009 by Allahpundit
Share on Facebook | regular view

In which frequent Megyn Kelly sparring partner Bill Burton steals a page from Susan Rice and ignores the screaming contradiction between The One’s outrage at Honduras and non-outrage at Iran. Funny how the White House’s rhetoric shifts from harsh realism when addressing the latter to an almost neoconservative ode to freedom when addressing the former, notwithstanding the fact that freedom and democracy aren’t at all what Zelaya and Chavez have planned. I get that it’s this guy’s job to spout garbage, but is it too much to ask that they spout consistent garbage so that we don’t have to endure White House spokesmen making the case for and against meddling in other countries in back-to-back news segments?

A more pressing question now. What’s Juan Williams doing hosting the Factor? Click the image to watch.

Juan Williams hosting The Factor, works for me. Juan seems a fair man who at least tries to understand both sides of an issue. He’s better than the screaming narcissist who usually hosts.

exdeadhead on July 1, 2009 at 11:31 PM

Agree. But Lis Wiehl always loses … to everyone.

Wiehl does, for my tastes, at least. And she seems nice. She just can’t win an argument, which is kind of sad since she wrote a book entitled something like, “Win Every Argument”.

I don’t know much of anything about Parker. I read a couple of her hit pieces a while ago and haven’t looked at her writing since. I don’t comment on any Parker/Baby Buckley/Frum/Brooks/… threads. I don’t even look at them.

progressoverpeace on July 1, 2009 at 11:39 PM

Juan did a great job. Someone does need to clue him in to some global warming hoax books. Vaclav Klaus has a good take on global warming.

Do not even listen to Hannity anymore. I listen to Ed via HotAir. Ed is way more fun, (manpris and all!), and Ed is way smarter than Hannity. I love the chat room chatter tons more than the goofy callers on Hannity’s radio show. I still have to watch Sean on tv. Husband likes to watch.

To call Burton a tool is to give tools a bad name.

dcwvu on July 1, 2009 at 11:47 PM

Burton’s comportment is a deception. He suffers from the same personality disorder of individual who has a degree of facility to compartmentalization. He can go out there and spew crap with a straight face like nobodies business.
.
Megyn Kelly exposed Burton’s disfuctional personality throughout the entire 2008 presidential campaign. Burden’s dissociation from reality is evident.
.
To put it in laymans terms: Burton is full sh!t.
.
Burton tries to come across as prestigious but his complacency is a mask for his notoriety.

Americannodash on July 2, 2009 at 12:14 AM

Burton is just another mindless O-bot spouting what he is told to spout. Logic, common sense and reason have no bearing on what he says. He does not think, he spouts.

In this way he is typical of the libs. This is what the Dems offer them. Follow us and you won’t need to think, just spout our party line and you can be confident that you’ll always be politically correct. AND… you’ll get invited to all our cocktail parties. It’ll save you time, you won’t have to figure things out for yourself, won’t have to spend time staying up with the news, just spout our lines and we’ll do the thinking for you. If you want to call it that. Oh and never mind that man behind the curtain.

Mojave Mark on July 2, 2009 at 12:32 AM

White House spokesmen aren’t paid to think, just spout the party line. Five minutes later the party line may have just reversed itself but the O-bot spokesmen aren’t allowed to think, just spout, even though it may contradict what they had just said. Robot slaves just say what they’re told no matter how little sense it makes.

So yes, it’s too much to ask, to ask them to be consistent.

Are you kidding me? This is the same Juan Williams who had never even heard of a dissenting argument to man-made global warming until the Czech President said it, and even then he was apoplectic. He never sought a dissenting opinion and fed off of what was shoveled down his mouth by the Washington Post and NPR. Fair minded my arse.

Juan Williams did fine in asking the question he did of Bill Burton concerning Obama’s pro-tyranny position on Honduras. I would have liked a follow up question or two by Juan that would have shown Bill Burton’s words to be nonsense.

Obama has shown himself with respect to Honduras. Obama is an authoritarian socialist who will side with commies Chavez, Castro and Ortega. Ameriaca did not vote for that in November 2008.

It is obvious that Obama looked at the two situations and said Iranian protestors=bad…..Chavez sidekick=good. In fact it is so obvious that even guys like Juan Williams can see it. And Juan is no neocon. He is an endangered species, a real journalist. I don’t always agree with him..but I respect him. mostly.

Lookee here: Obama, flip-flops, gets mad at Nigerian leader for following in Zelaya’s footsteps:

WASHINGTON, July 1 (Reuters) – The U.S. government voiced concern on Wednesday over actions taken by Niger’s President Mamadou Tandja to extend his rule in the West African country.

“These decisions undermine Niger’s efforts over the last ten years to advance good governance and the rule of law,” White House spokesman Robert Gibbs said in a statement.

Tandja responded to the rejection by Niger’s highest court of his plan to seek at least another three years in power by sacking the judges and naming a new Cabinet.

So O’Reilly could not persuade Dennis Miller to fill in for him, leaving the Factor to a dim bulb like Juan Williams.

It was only the total darkness of Bill Burton’s illogic and willful stupidity that made Juan seem adequate.

Obama playing touch football with his spoiled brats on the White House lawn in a JFK referential photo-op? Burgers with the homies in Dupont Circle? Date night to watch the fireworks? BadgerHawk on July 2, 2009 at 10:01 AM

I like Williams hosting The Factor for a night.

Two nights ago, The Factor was hosted by Monica Crowley, a conservative talker who did unexpectedly well. Juan Williams is a liberal, but his time at Fox News has led him to drift toward the center, and he does ask tough questions if liberals stray TOO FAR left.

There’s something about Fox News that leads liberals to drift toward the right–Greta Van Susteren has been asking tough questions of the Obama Administration lately, sometimes even calling their economic policy “stupid”,
and she seems to admire Sarah Palin. Now if somebody could get her off the subject of Michael Jackson…

Steve Z on July 2, 2009 at 10:19 AM
