Mullahs stringing up opposition?

The Jerusalem Post reports that the Iranian regime has begun to make good on its threat to execute dissidents.  In the city of Mashhad, sources report that six people were hanged to death for their roles in the protests that paralyzed Iran.  Prior to that, a prominent cleric predicted his own death at the hands of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, whom the cleric claimed held power illegitimately:

As the Iranian authorities warned the opposition on Tuesday that they would tolerate no further protests over the disputed June 12 presidential elections, a report emerged of the hangings of six supporters of defeated candidate Mir Hossein Mousavi.

Speaking after Iran’s top legislative body upheld the election victory of incumbent Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, sources in Iran told this reporter in a telephone interview that the hangings took place in the holy city of Mashhad on Monday. There was no independent confirmation of the report.

Underlining the climate of fear among direct and even indirect supporters of Mousavi’s campaign for the election to be annulled, the sources also reported that a prominent cleric gave a speech to opposition protesters in Teheran earlier this week in which he publicly acknowledged that the very act of speaking at the gathering would likely cost him his life.

“Ayatollah Hadi Gafouri said that the Imam [Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini] never wanted [current supreme Leader] Ali Khamenei to succeed him. He even went to say that the Islamic republic died the day the Imam did,” one source said.

In order to counter the massive number of women in the streets, and also to keep images of men beating women from Western TVs, the Guardian Council has sent out the Sisters of Zeynab to supplement the Basij.  They beat the women, under the protection of the Basij.

Meanwhile, the Basij have demands of their own.  They want an “investigation” of Mirhossein Mousavi’s role in the protests:

Iran’s Basij militia is calling for an investigation into opposition leader Mir Hossein Mousavi’s role in the street protests that followed last month’s presidential election.

The semiofficial Fars news agency says the militia has sent Iran’s chief prosecutor a letter accusing Mousavi of taking part in nine offenses against the state, including “disturbing the nation’s security.”

That charge carries a maximum penalty of 10 years’ imprisonment.

Readers of George Orwell will appreciate the irony of the leader of a regime’s hired thugs complaining about “disturbing the nation’s security”.  The Basij have been cracking heads and swinging axes for two weeks now.  That’s only security if you consider Altamont (or Amritsar) the epitome of a peacekeeping operation.

Mousavi insists that he will not back down from his demand for a new election, and increasing it seems that he has little choice.  Even if he conceded, he’d get arrested and thrown in prison, or wind up on the business end of a rope.

And Dear Leader expects such a regime to negotiate away its nuclear weapons in good faith.

Meanwhile, The One will condemn a bloodless ouster of an unconstitutional overreach by a president, one that was requested by an independent legislature and independent supreme court.

Dear Leader is not merely neutral, He is on the other side.

The US should not meddle in these affairs of the Iranian people. We are pleased to see that there is still a robust debate about the election. We wish it didn’t involove hanging people for expressing themselves, but we also recognize the sovereignty of Iran and look forward to maintaining an open dialogue based on mutual respect.

He isnt reasoning with them, he is pulling their strings. How many times do I have to tell you before it finally sinks in. Obama is the Anti-Christ referenced in the book of Revelations.

Revelation 13:

“1 And I stood upon the sand of the sea, and saw a beast rise up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and upon his horns ten crowns, and upon his heads the name of blasphemy.
2 And the beast which I saw was like unto a leopard, and his feet were as the feet of a bear, and his mouth as the mouth of a lion: and the dragon gave him his power, and his seat, and great authority.
3 And I saw one of his heads as it were wounded to death; and his deadly wound was healed: and all the world wondered after the beast.
4 And they worshipped the dragon which gave power unto the beast: and they worshipped the beast, saying, Who is like unto the beast? who is able to make war with him?
5 And there was given unto him a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies; and power was given unto him to continue forty and two months.
6 And he opened his mouth in blasphemy against God, to blaspheme his name, and his tabernacle, and them that dwell in heaven.
7 And it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and power was given him over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations.
8 And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.
9 If any man have an ear, let him hear.
10 He that leadeth into captivity shall go into captivity: he that killeth with the sword must be killed with the sword. Here is the patience and the faith of the saints.
11 And I beheld another beast coming up out of the earth; and he had two horns like a lamb, and he spake as a dragon.
12 And he exerciseth all the power of the first beast before him, and causeth the earth and them which dwell therein to worship the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed.
13 And he doeth great wonders, so that he maketh fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men,
14 And deceiveth them that dwell on the earth by the means of those miracles which he had power to do in the sight of the beast; saying to them that dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast, which had the wound by a sword, and did live.
15 And he had power to give life unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed.
16 And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads:

17 And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.
18 Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six.”

True that. This morning, local talk radio was discussing Obama’s options about Honduras and why his adminstration is propping up a dictator. Somebody actually called in say there is only one President and that we (the public) had no business second-guessing what he was doing. That we all needed to trust that he is doing the right thing. My first reaction was to gag (and the caller never did answer the radio hosts questions if he had that same view when GWB was

He will go into hiding and this will turn into a guerrilla war. He sees an opportunity for power, the people see what they think is an opportunity for self determination and he will use that.

Not entirely, although clearly scaled back. I saw a video clip yesterday of a crowd erupting into jeers for Ahmadinejad and calling “Mousavi” when Ahmadinejad was being ushered from a building on a Teheran university campus into his car. They had a hard time getting him through the mob and then a hard time getting the car out of it. It was heartening. This news is not, although I can’t say it suprises me.

BL@KBIRD on July 1, 2009 at 10:48 AM

This is the part I just don’t understand. If I found out that the American government were torturing, killing or imprisoning American citizens just for standing up for democracy, I wouldn’t whine about it; I wouldn’t “take to the streets” and protest. I’d calmly and quietly start hunting down and killing every government official I could find, and I wouldn’t stop until my heart did. If I didn’t have guns I’d use freakin’ dental floss. And I really don’t believe I’m anywhere near the only American who feels that way.

How can millions of people put their heads down and just be glad it isn’t happening to them? I just don’t get it. If liberals get their wish and Obama is “successful” in America, he’s going to have to kill at least half of us – maybe more. I’m not saying it can’t happen here; people have have been proven wrong about that way too many times. All I know for sure is that it’s going to be the bloodiest revolution ever.

logis on July 1, 2009 at 11:19 AM

If you haven’t read the book “Guests of the Ayatollah: The Iran Hostage Crisis: The First Battle in America’s War with Militant Islam” by Mark Bowden, I suggest you read it.

It is about the 1979 hostage taking of the American Embassy. What I see happening in Iran maybe a repeat in history.

One of the biggest complaints the hostage takers espoused was having the Shah returned and placed on trial for all of the brutality his regime committed against the people of Iran, especially if they critiziced the regime. As you see in the book and what you are seeing today, the Mullahocracy in Iran is as much, if not more, brutal to the people of Iran as the Shah. The Iranian’s were correct in overthrowing the Shah back then (unfortunately, they were brainwashed by Khomeni) and they are correct in overthrowing the Mullahocracy now for the same reasons. Brutality.

You will also see in the book that the Mullahs arrested the local Iranian US Embassy staff in 1979 for being complicit in the crimes against the state. This is the same thing they are doing now with the local Iranian British Embassy staff. In 1979, the Mullahs accused the US of spying and meddling in Iranian affairs. The same accusation they are making today against the US and Britain. This is the Mullah playbook on display again. The difference now, the Mullahs don’t have the support of the people as they did in 1979.

Carter was sympathetic to the Shah back then, and Obama is sympathetic to the Mullahs now. Why am I not surprised.

In order to counter the massive number of women in the streets, and also to keep images of men beating women from Western TVs, the Guardian Council has sent out the Sisters of Zeynab to supplement the Basij. They beat the women, under the protection of the Basij.

Where do they find these women? Are they men dressed in burkas to give the appearance of women beating other women? Are these women who are forced to beat them under duress and threats to their children? or are they really that cold and hardened? As a woman and a mother myself, I honestly can’t fathom the concept and cold heartedness of the Basij and the women who participate. It reads like a fantasy novel and yet it is very real.

***
The Mullahs are just being “nice” when they hang dissidents and those who offend them and the “Religion of Peace”. They also hand out stonings, amputations, hundreds of lashes, confiscation of all families property, long hard labor sentences, etc.
***
Watch the videos of an Iranian hanging. No quick “long drop” hanging where the victim has his neck broken and dies very quickly. They do the Old West lynching–lift the victim up slowly on a crane and watch them suffer.
***
But just a few words from our Messiah–PBUH–will fix everything.
