It’s been a while since we last heard from Cynthia McKinney, but today we discover that she’s … well, in the same place as six months ago. McKinney tried running the Israeli blockade on Gaza and got captured, along with her crew. Now she demands her release, while the Israelis make the completely understandable case that they don’t want her a minute longer than necessary (via Yid with Lid):
Former U.S. lawmaker and Green Party presidential candidate Cynthia McKinney, whose relief boat was seized by an Israeli naval ship Tuesday for the second time in a year, is demanding the immediate release of her and 20 other activists.
McKinney, a longtime supporter of Palestinians, said her Greek-flagged boat, the Spirit of Humanity, was carrying medical supplies, cement, olive trees and children’s toys to Gaza when it was boarded by the Israeli navy.
“This is an outrageous violation of international law against us,” said McKinney. “Our boat was not in Israeli waters and we were on a human rights mission to the Gaza Strip. President Obama just told Israel to let in humanitarian and reconstruction supplies, and that’s exactly what we tried to do. We’re asking the international community to demand our release so we can resume our journey.”
Well, President Obama is not president of Israel. He doesn’t get to dictate policy to Jerusalem, although Obama himself might think that he can. The Israelis do allow humanitarian aid into Gaza, but through closely secured transit points that allow them to keep out weapons, especially rockets that get launched from Gaza at cities in southern Israel. Running a blockade carries with it the risk of arrest — or worse — and announcing your intention to run the blockade (as McKinney does in this statement) is certainly enough reason to stop the Spirit of Humanity before it succeeds.
In fact, the Israelis warned McKinney and her crew to stay out of Gaza waters. They ignored the radio warning and proceeded towards Gaza until the Israeli navy intercepted them and forced them into an Israeli port. Israel also said that they would send the goods McKinney transported into Gaza as soon as it checked out as safe.
The Israelis, meanwhile, have already tired of McKinney:
Israeli Foreign Ministry spokesman Yigal Palmor said Israel was planning to free the crew and passengers.
“Nobody wants to keep them here,” he said. “They will be released as soon as they are checked.”
We feel your pain, Yigal.

If one had never heard of any of the issues involved, just seeing this idiot and that photo and reading that she supported one of the sides in the conflict, one would logically come to the conclusion that side had to be wrong. She even looks insane.

There’s a tiny “rock” just off the shore of Tel Aviv Jaffa, Andromeda’s rock, that’s just far enough away that no one could hear her scream and she couldn’t swim to shore. That seems like a logical place to release her. Otherwise, they could just let her into Gaza with the strict restriction that she never be allowed to leave again…

Gaza Strip (AP) – Hamas officials today issued a statement thanking Israel for the capture of Congresswoman Cynthia McKinney. “She won’t stop calling. We think she’s stalking us. It’s very scary” The Hamas spokesperson went on to say that McKinney won’t take no for an answer. “If we don’t return her calls, she’ll just get in a boat and try to run it up on the beach. It’s insane.”
While Israel’s action on the high seas will not change Hamas’ stated positions, they did allow that this was a humanitarian act. “We are still committed to the destruction of Israel and the death of every Jew within its borders. There is however, certain atrocities that no one should be subject to and Cynthia McKinney is one of them.”

In the 50’s black society was one of the most stable, moving into “middle America” economically, and socially if the dems hadn’t blocked most of the Republican bills.
You can’t take a few great examples, and then use them as a template of success…with literally trillions of dollars spent since the “great society”. The black family, and the black culture has been torn apart…they were once conservative, when they were stable, being educated, but the dems can’t afford that. After 40 years of controlling the schools, look what they have wrought.
And you say don’t go racist…don’t go and be foolish.
If stating the fact that black society has suffered under the liberal control, makes someone a racist, then they will forever be caught in that web…you fell into the typical (and you are not) liberal knee jerk statement.
Black society needs an injection of conservative values…or they will continue down the spiral path of destruction and anger.

Absolutely, I was pointing out who they (leaders) hold in high esteem…most liberal black leaders could care less about our military, so they are not considered “successful”. The conservative hold those ideals high.
But when coming out of the miltitary, they are forced to deal with a society that liberal policy has created.

Funny thing. Maybe if you had called before hand you wouldn’t be screaming like a nut. Maybe if you had just arranged to deliver the goods like a sane person you wouldn’t be where you are. Maybe if you removed yourself from the crackpot “Jews control everything” theory and treat the Israeli government with some respect, maybe you wouldn’t be where you are now. And last I checked, the waters around Gaza are still the property of the Israeli government, so you were kinda in their waters and they have a right to check you out, especially after that first incident.
