The ridonkulous thing about this is the fact that Iraq couldn’t have been getting any better until the Cairo speech was made. It was only after that speech that any kudos could be handed out to any progress toward democracy in the Middle East.

My faith has always been with our Citizen Soldiers in Iraq to do their best, and put the politics aside to provide the breathing space and hand up necessary to a fallen people to help them secure their freedom.

That is hard, hard work and when left undone it becomes undone.

As it is abroad, so is it at home.

Liberty’s Great Tree needs watering with the blood of tyrants and patriots to provide the soothing shade of freedom. Teaching that cost in a far off land is hard.

Not doing it is fatal. Particularly after winning a conflict… which is not thoroughly done by any estimation. Well must we keep in mind that simple truth that ‘Live free or die’ is not a slogan but the operation of how secure your liberty. When you cannot stop government from taking your freedom, you are soon back to watering the Great Tree once more.

Obama is the biggest phoney I have ever heard speak. For the life of me I can’t figure out why he chose politics over acting…he could win an Academy Award and he would get all the adulation he constantly craves. And if I hear one more time about his Cairo speech having to do with anything that is going on I’m going to puke.

Sorry Big A, I cannot be quite so charitable as you. Having baosted of how he would have left the Iraqis under the tyranny they suffered under – without saying how he was wrong about that (isn’t he supposed to be big on apologies?) and delighted about how wrong he was… no go. And the thumb in the eye to the Iraiqs of putting Biden on anything to do with Iraq is a calculated insult. There are a whole bunch of Iraqi parliamentary folks who are going to be livid that they man who wanted to cut their country up is now supposed to “help”.

No owning up to responsibility = no real giving credit either.

While I don’t think the average BO supporter’s IQ is close to three digits, they are smart enough to understand Afghanistan is clearly BO’s war at this point.

Just read the quote from Obama regarding Iraq and something struck me. He mentions “there are those who will test Iraqi security forces” and “I’m confident that those forces will fail”. Now, I know what he meant and so will most people. But he only referred to “forces” as Iraqi troops and/or police and clearly said he hopes the “forces” fail. I would hope a master orator would not make such an flub on such an important topic. Unless he said something between those lines that referred to the bad guys as “forces” this seems like it could be seen by some as supporting the bad guys. Which, again, he doesn’t.

How does this guy attempt to stand on both sides of these issues? I’ve heard what he’s said on Iraq, I’m a soldier and I cannot begin to accept or even acknowledge his praise on the successes there. These successes were not because of him, they’re in spite of him and his ilk.

“There are some who say I’ve been wrong all along on Iraq….”

American troops have ceded control (and helped keep my ass out of the fire) and helped responsibly (even though I’ve acted irresponsibly in my past)

With this handover comes responsibility (and me relinquishing any blame for any poor outcomes)

Those that have tried to pull Iraq into the abyss (and guys like me who tried to push it into the abyss) are on the wrong side of history (like I was and currently am on many issues.)
