Waxman: Opposing cap and trade means “rooting against the country” or something

posted at 4:06 pm on June 29, 2009 by Allahpundit

Actually, he says, it’s more like “rooting against the world,” echoing Krugman’s declaration this morning that opposing C&T constitutes “treason to the planet.” I wonder who came up with this new lefty talking point, in which disagreeing with leftist solutions to environmental problems constitutes the rape of Gaia herself. (Among the rapists in this case: 44 Democrats.) Suspicions, as always, fall on Rahm, although in fairness it’s Pelosi who’s traditionally been most apt to label her opponents unpatriotic or un-American for refusing to embrace the left’s agenda. No matter. File this one away in your “dissent is not patriotic” cabinet.

Note that Waxman cites as further evidence of the GOP’s anti-Americanism its opposition to the stimulus. How’s that working out these days? Don’t worry — if they didn’t get it right on the first try, I’m sure they’ll get it right on the second. Click the image to watch.

I can’t understand it. I don’t condone it but I can see how using half truths could be beneficial in the corrupt game that is politics. But these people don’t even make an attempt to say anything that could be defensible. How do they sleep at night?

I now believe there is no lower criminal than a politician.

HoustonRight on June 29, 2009 at 6:00 PM

The contempt these clowns have for us is infuriating; if you’ve seen the video where they brought in a speed-reader to ‘read’ this bill like it was a joke, you’ll want to throw something through your screen.

What will it take to get them to stop destroying us?

Fallen Sparrow on June 29, 2009 at 6:02 PM

Iowa Hawk’s parody “Mark Your Time, Hu-Mans!” captures Waxman better than anything else I have ever read.

DeathB4Tyranny on June 29, 2009 at 6:11 PM

Oh, speaking of treason. I was talking with my boss today and he is furious over the cap and trade tax. I asked him, “If enough people got together would you stop paying the payroll tax?” He said “Absolutely, if we can get enough people together I will quite paying the payroll tax.”

Any takers?

boomer on June 29, 2009 at 6:15 PM

quite quit. My fingers are being treasonous.

boomer on June 29, 2009 at 6:16 PM

I cannot help it. Every time I see that picture, I think of the Mayor of Who-Ville from the Grinch movie, starring Jim Carey. Come to think of it, there may be ideological similarities as well.

Steven on June 29, 2009 at 6:17 PM

Kinda chilly here. Wonder how the soy/corn crops are doing? Can I laugh in their GW faces if we face a food shortage or biofuel prices go through the roof because of low yield due to below average temps?

journeyintothewhirlwind on June 29, 2009 at 6:20 PM

What’s the quote and who said something like, “The planet’s/Nature’s been trying to kill us for years, but now that we’re winning she wants to cry foul.’?

- The Cat

P.S. I kick the planet. Take that planet! I also flush my poop into it. Take that planet! Ya see where this is going. You know how hard it is to harm the planet? Like even Lex Luthor couldn’t even do it. I mean massive nuclear attack? Game shows. Oil Spill. Sure it made hippies mad, but what is the lasting effect of Exxon Valdez; nothing really. Even just killing off humans with a pandemic? That’s easy, I just gave my gardener a couple weeks off and cleaned my own bathroom. In conclusion, Waxman is a funny name and dude is teh gugly.

When we run out of power, and run out of fuel. Will there be anyone left to extract some justice from Herr Waxman?

I’m sorry to get personal, but you insist on using that photo of Waxman.

Usually I have the problem in early winter, but somehow a bunch of mice found their way into the basement this past week. I have trapped three of them since yesterday. I took a close look at the last one caught today.

From head on it looked exactly like that photo! Shiver…

Yoop on June 29, 2009 at 6:50 PM

Does anyone even believe these baffoons anymore? How can anyone, except the most extreme partisan buy into this bullsh*t?! This goober looks like some character from Pink Floyd, The Wall!

We are being played for fools while they obliterate the Constitution and we’re committing “treason”?!!!

Waxman’s bill is unconstitutional. So, we root against Waxman and his bill, and we root for the USA, freedom, liberty, capitalism and free markets.

BottomLine5 on June 29, 2009 at 7:15 PM

Not only is this bill coming from the looney left, but from looney leftys from California. They’re not content with bankrupting their own state. Now they want to further bankrupt the whole country. Gotta love that “patriotism” (sarc).

texabama on June 29, 2009 at 7:16 PM

Pelosi who’s traditionally been most apt to label her opponents unpatriotic or un-American for refusing to embrace the left’s agenda. No matter.

That woman, if there is any justice in this world, will go down in history as the absolute worst elected official we’ve ever had.

Had a mutt dog some years ago. Very unhappy situation for the two of us. Looked like Waxman – couldn’t figure which end was the ugliest. Never looked into his intellect.

Oink….BTW…do you 90 percent of all porn is produced in Rep. Waxman’s Snout’s district.

RobCon on June 29, 2009 at 7:24 PM

Was the server down or something? I couldn’t get on here or Malkin’s site for like the last hour.

Did same thing to me, too. Also, a couple weeks ago. Thought: Well, it’s finally happened.

Unfortunate usage of “rooting” word from Waxman, as he looks like a porcine creature, and when first reading headline, I believed it came from Allahpundit as a spoof
on the guy’s oink, oink looks.

When the Revolution comes Waxman is going to be one of the first lined up against the wall.

doriangrey on June 29, 2009 at 7:30 PM

It’s amazing to me how can one administration can introduce (and pass) such a staggering series of poor legislation in such a short amount of time. And not even read or understand the majority of it. This is governing at its absolute worst. We could almost be better off in Somalia than trusting our country to these idiots.

I know. I know. I’m getting the feeling that Allahpundit and gang get some kind of sick, sadistic pleasure by
using that photo of Waxman for readers, like me, who look at it with horror, but at the same time, are weirdly drawn to it.
Oh, how they must laugh.

betsyz on June 29, 2009 at 8:02 PM

Hey, Waxman, you sleazy POS, your party calling American troops war criminals, comparing them to the SS, declaring defeat with those troops in the field and playing legislative games with their lives by screwing with the spending bills to arm, equip and support them in the field is rooting against the country.

Burn in hell, you sleaze.

SuperCool on June 29, 2009 at 8:06 PM

Waxman pushed a vote on a bill that wasn’t even written yet, and no one had a chance to read………….

……….. When are the rest of you going to get tired of this crap?

Seven Percent Solution on June 29, 2009 at 3:57 PM

That would depend on how comfortable everyone is. Feet up on the ottoman, the government sure blew that one, I’m gonna vote for the other guy comfortable, or in their faces, take it to the streets, this ain’t gonna stand, ’cause here I stand m******f***** comfortable.

In one scenario, a few House seats and a couple of Senators shift, and we continue. Another, the Hondurans replace a corrupt socialist politician who was bent on circumventing their Constitution.

Seems that the Hondurans weren’t too squeamish about taking the straight road…

Just sayin’, y’all make up your own minds.

creekspecter on June 29, 2009 at 8:17 PM

Waxman has always been a looney tune waiting for a screening. The Democrats have more than their share of partisan hacks; but Waxman fits right in a leadership position with this group.

Does anyone believe the Democrats want to have a full and honest debate on global warming? Of course not because they can’t win a full and honest debate and they know it. The only way they can win is the use the media to suppress any opposing opinion and the claim the science is settled. Now that they’re in control of EPA, etc. they can hide reports they don’t agree with also. Isn’t that special?

As opposed to rooting the country, I suppose.

Raping the planet? OK….

I just went out and purchased a number of items completely wrapped in plastic. In the process, I sent a whole bunch of carbon into the atmosphere. I have no intention of recycling ANYTHING I just purchased.

As a “rapist,” I feel pretty good. Anyone have a cigarette?

Playing mother nature but not part of the weather change at all. /S

India first started experimenting with cloud seeding in 1951 but has used the technology only sporadically, and has yet to draw up a national policy on its usage. China now has the world’s biggest cloud-seeding programme, followed by Russia and Israel, and at least 24 other countries are known to use the technology.

journeyintothewhirlwind on June 30, 2009 at 3:05 PM

Back in the forties and fifties, GE had a federal contract to study cloud seeding. I think the bottom line was that it either didn’t work or wasn’t cost effective.

Al in St. Lou on June 30, 2009 at 4:07 PM

Something must have changed since then. I remember reading about China cloud seeding for the Olympics and this story confirms they have the largest program.
All told we have 27 countries (24 plus Israel,Russia, China mentioned in preceding line) cloud seeding. Do they report this to some global weather agency so that it can be tracked and studied? And if so, where is that information and is it included in the GW debate?

journeyintothewhirlwind on June 30, 2009 at 4:44 PM

Hmmm, at your link, they say that India is beginning a three-year experiment. It sounds like they’re hoping to make it work. I’m skeptical.
