Columbia (AP) — Governor Mark Sanford has told the Associated Press that he “crossed lines” with women other than Maria Belen Chapur, but never had sex with them.

Sanford also told the AP that Chapur is his soul mate, but he will try to fall back in love with his wife, First Lady Jenny Sanford.

Also, evidently God himself wants Sanford to remain in office lest it deprive us of important lessons about pride or something.

Allah, you want to take shots at Sanford, that’s legitimate, but to include God in this is the worst kind of smear. God has nothing to do with Sanford’s obfuscating, and blinkered ignorance of all things biblical. Take your cheap shots somewhere else.

The man obviously has issues with honesty, integrity, and faithfulness. Thus, he’s certainly a worthy candidate for contempt, but not God. I think you’re letting your atheism color your commentary in this one.

Besides, what do you care, as an atheist your motto should be, “Hey, if it floats his boat, why not? Whom am I to judge? Live and let live.” If the people of South Carolina want him out, then they’ll get him out, but for you to protest his moral shortcomings, coming from an avowed atheist, is laughable.

My understanding was that Mrs. Sanford discovered the ADULTERY last January and demanded he end it. I think that was a break the cheating S.O.B didn’t deserve.

I know many wives who’ve understood their husband’s infidelity, and forgiven them, since they weren’t having sex with their husbands themselves. Who knows what went on in the Sanford marriage.

I would vote for Sanford in ’12. He would be one more in a long line of adulterous presidents — Washington and Jefferson being two of our greatest. Not gonna happen with this crowd.

I disagree, sanford should Not resign. Especially over an affair. Dems are over their heads in corruption they never resign. We should stop being so willing to forcing republicans to resign who “embarrass” us.

He should resign, especially over an affair. Adultery is the ultimate betrayal. Adulterers are liars, not only to their spouses, but to God. Anyone who will lie about something that important will lie about anything.
We should not emulate the Democrats. They are unprincipled and immoral. Sanford didn’t embarrass us, he betrayed us. Not punishing those who betray us has saddled us with the kakistocracy we’re struggling under now.
