Surprise: Axelrod refuses to rule out tax hike to pay for ObamaCare

I don’t blame him. The “pile of sh*t” that passed the House on Friday, which even Obama pal Warren Buffett describes as a “huge tax,” already shattered The One’s pledge not to raise taxes on people who make less than $250,000. Now that they’re in for a penny, they might as well be in for a pound:

I pressed Axelrod on whether Obama will draw a line in the sand and veto any bill that funds health care reform with tax hikes for people making under $250,000 a year — a pledge Barack Obama made during the 2008 presidential campaign.

“One of the problems we’ve had in this town is that people draw lines in the sand and they stop talking to each other. And you don’t get anything done. That’s not the way the president approaches us. He is very cognizant of protecting people — middle class people, hard-working people who are trying to get along in a very difficult economy. And he will continue to represent them in these talks,” Axelrod said.

“But they’re also dealing with punishing health care costs, and that’s something that we have to deal with.”

This wouldn’t be the only health-care “line in the sand” drawn during the campaign that’s now being quietly washed away by economic reality. As for foreign policy, Ax helpfully informed Stephanopoulos that it’s still full speed ahead on negotiations with Iran. You can watch that clip here but I recommend his exchange on the same topic with David Gregory instead, as Gregory presses him on what consequences Iran should suffer for its brutality. Ax has no answers, of course. Note also his insistence (in both interviews) that Ahmadinejad has no say in setting foreign policy, which (a) may be technically true but is meaningless in practice, given that Khamenei obviously supports Ahmadinejad’s vision enough to rig an election for him and (b) may not even be technically true anymore given the astounding power the Revolutionary Guard now has in Iran. I am wondering, once ObamaCare is passed and all is right in the world (because we’ll all have AnninCA’s Kaiser plan) what becomes of all of the people who have been “bankrupted” by health issues?

Will the federal government wipe the slate clean for those people? Will the bills piled up by an injury or cancer diagnosis six months ago just disappear at the bill signing?

Or will the people who have been crushed by healthcare debt in the past be further dissed by having an increase in their taxes to pay for the healthcare of others?

Has this ever been addressed?

It would be nice if all the “moderate” Obama voters would just admit to having been scammed. I know it’s hard, but they will feel much better once they get it over with.

We work for them now. Eventually, we won’t even get paid. We will just turn over our entire paychecks and the nanny state will just issue us those little credit cards for what it says we need and are allowed to have. Once the credits on it are gone for the month, we will just have to do without.

Obama is really setting himself up to be unpopular. He is doing everything to alienate not only the right, but the middle class moderates as well. On top of that, he is disappointing the Left by not being as un-Bush as he promised he would be.

By the time 2012 comes around, he may well be the most unpopular president evah, even besting George Bush. To think he is only 5 months in and things are getting worse for him by the day.

What’s even more promising, is that there is nothing that could possibly go his way. He can not possibly find new tax money without losing more public support, his cap n trade can not possibly be pulled off without tanking both production and consumption, his socialized medicine is not likely to pass, and if it did, it could not pass in a way that would not seriously hurt the economy even more, the dictators of the world will not possibly become less belligerent, they will become more belligerent, the economy can not possibly recover in such a short time to restore consumer confidence and thus voter confidence, and the debt that the US has can not possibly be tamed with any of his policies, but it can, and will, be made worse with such, and on and one it goes.

There is no hope for obama because 1), he became president at a time when circumstances dictate that no president could be popular, and 2) everything he is trying to do will hurt the economy and make him even less popular than any other equally untimely president would otherwise be.

Not quite…

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

There could be no stronger example of the importance of those words than to witness the most important story in the world of the past week (it was not the untimely death of an over-the-hill, drug addled, pedophile). We posses what the Iranian people could only dream of having.

Just in cause anyone questions the use of Militia in the 2nd Amendment.

And while I agree that the 1st is supposed to allow us to redress grievances, how exactly have we been able to do that when you have to have special permission to even sue the federal government, when our own elected officials refuse to listen to their constituents and vote for whatever lobbyist lined their pockets wants, and when ignore the constitution outright and do whatever they want?

You are right, there is more that needs to be said to the government. Its high time we restore the Constitution to its rightful place.

No need to volunteer yourself unto a government watch list. Just do the proper shopping for inventory and pay close attention to what the reliable parts of the non-MSM news sources are telling you is really going on in Washington.

Have a plan, and have the tools and necessities to accomplish it. No one (repeat: no one) is going to be doing it for you if the time comes that “survivalist/militia forums” have the immediate answer to the immediate present. At that time it is too late to formulate a plan of action.

Place those items on the to do list, along with repealing the sixteenth and seventeenth amendments, adding an amendment that specifically excludes the federal government from owning any portion of a corporation – feel free to add or delete your own – but we have to straighten this mess out.

My sophomoric suggestion for the day is to gather the members of Congress together and have the tenth amendment tattooed upon their foreheads.

Life will be wonderful living under His Royal Majesty Barack Obama’s American Reich.

We will live in homes powered by windmills and solar panels so controlling our weight will be easy as there won’t be enough electricity to power anything more than a small refrigerator. Not enough power for air conditioning in the summer so we will sweat off any excess weight. Not enough power for much in the way of heat in the winter so we will have to do calisthenics to keep half way warm so cardiovascular health should improve immensely. We probably will hardly even need to get in our Government Motors battery powered golf carts cars to even go to see a Obama/Kevorkian/Mengele doctor.

Have faith, I think this will all work out for the better….

It’s ok, really it is. They haven’t stopped manufacturing ammunition and rope yet, and even if they did we have more than enough of both to solve this problem for ourselves. Maybe the remaining few will listen a little better if Washington D.C. starts looking like a christmas tree decorated with human ornaments.

I know most Americans feel the same way. However, as this administration continues to trash the constitution and keeps over stepping its authority. Just look our look our way and find out. We have’t had any good reason to resurrect “Remember the Alamo” but maybe…..

The tea parties were a legitimate embryo with promise, but without an action plan plus specific goals and timelines, the impetus is being lost. Targeted work stoppages, adjusting exemptions on one’s payroll witholding, etc are lilely possibilities, but I have not seen that type of organizational effort. Demonstrations by themselves won’t get it done.

Your question is vaid, and interesting. One could speculate that the initial uprising would take the form of an inundation of the congress critters with such an avalanche of communications (phone, email, personal visits, etc.) that they would get the message and actually begin to worry about the job and power retention that they so cherish.

One would think that, but it does appear that they aren’t paying attention to that approach at this time, or simply don’t care what the people actually think or desire.

So, it would seem that the next approach would be a million or more people pouring into the streets to protest that “enough is enough”.

That would look to be an “Iranian” approach. The Iranian government’s put down of that approach worked because they were probably about 99% sure that they were not confronting a populace that was armed and might be able to fight back. They were also about 99% sure the groups they used to put down the protest would be loyal to their orders.

Now,in the face of such a protest in the US, and a government order to disperse said protest with the use of force, the government would be ___% sure that they were not confronting an armed group, and the government would be ___% sure that the organizations ordered to quell the protest would be loyal and follow orders.

(Filling in the blanks may start to answer your question)

Now,in the face of such a protest in the US, and a government order to disperse said protest with the use of force, the government would be _0__% sure that they were not confronting an armed group, and the government would be _0__% sure that the organizations ordered to quell the protest would be loyal and follow orders.

In reality I do not think that would take place here. Our state is being run well (for the moment). There is a growing movement down here for succession and I think that would happen before violence. Now, I am not for violence, but would rather fight to save this great country from itself. I was taught that sacrifice for the common good was always better than looking out for self interest.

Americans have uprisings every now and again. We’ve been fortunate thus far that most of them have not been directed against our duly elected officials and their appointed bodies. Else, we have also been further fortunate that uprisings against officials have been handled at the ballot box. (See also CA recall vote 7 Oct 2003.)

Hard to envision the patient wrath at this time because, for example, free assembly is still available to express a problem and maybe — just maybe — open an avenue for redress. I don’t care to envision what might happen if that went away. Not suggesting it might; just saying it’s invaluable just now. Example: At this point in time, Tea Party protests are like the patient wrath; sure, there’s no violence, but we are talking about people who probably never thought they’d ever protest anything out there marching with signs. They’re acting out of character from what they thought they’d do.

I sincerely hope it doesn’t come to running out of options; people sometimes do scary stuff when they think they’re out of options, especially when they’ve been patient for a long time.

Maybe it’s best not to envision a violent uprising for now. It’s not inevitable like, say, death. For each of us, death is inevitable, and maybe we prepare for it by buying insurance and writing wills, but most people don’t waste their short lives envisioning death. A violent uprising is probably less inevitable than death; therefore, I see even less reason to envision it. And I’ll not be talking about preparing for it beyond citing the 2nd Ammendment, which is there for every elected administration.

OK, that’s a longer answer than I usually give. Sorry about that.

I want nothing more than a peaceful solution. The problem is Obama wants an ugly one. He must have chaos in oder to push such radicalization as effectively as he can. Therein lies the problem.

One point of interest: how many states have provisions for recall petitions for congress critters?

If a large number of recall petitions were to be started,, all over the country, some of these politicians might get a clue that the people were serious, and might get worried enough to change their ways real quick.

Anyone have a sense for how many states may fall into this category? Even just having to fight recall petitions might slow them down or distract them.

About ten percent of the populous were patriots,many others went to Canada ,some were loyalists/ traitor’s.
Many of the founders also were left pennyless but died knowing they had set people free.
Now we are more concerned with the gloved one and his lifestyle.

I truely beleive that O has awaked a sleeping giant. Conservative have not historically been activist by nature. But we are watching that change before our eyes. There are still too many patriotic Americans that are not going to let this county go down without a fight.

It may take a while to get the coordination needed to be successful. But, it will happen.

That is a great idea. There are hundreds of great ideas. The Progressives are light years ahead of us and have set traps at every level and we are still in the WThell stage.

a good start would be to immediatley get a recall petition drive for the 8 Reps from Fridays vote. The Senate may sit up a little straighter if they know this is coming down the pike.

Every time I see Axelrod, I think of a large wet rat. Of course, him being from Chicago, that’s understandable.

Between the Ballerina, the Rat, and Pork Pig the press secretary, they have quite a triumvirate of “talent”. Using the word extremely loosely, of course.

I keep thinking it is wrong of me to judge these people for their looks. (Even though you can tell something of a person by their looks.)

But when I look at Waxman, for example, I think – this person just looks evil.

Pelosi, on the other hand, looks good for her age and looked good when she was younger. But even she breaks down when you watch her, because she messes herself up with all those forced fake smiles between words, like a beauty contestant trying to keep smiling no matter what, and with her pointy finger jabs.

But surely just because these people look so maleficent (Rahm), unappetizing (Gibbs), degenerate (Frank), sleezy (Axelrod), and so on, probably shouldn’t make me dislike them more than their words and actions (which are maleficent, unappetizing, degenerate, sleezy, and so on).

But it certainly adds to it. If one were typecasting for a movie, these people and others on their team would be perfect – on looks alone – as the bad guys. Obama is something of an exception, being attractive and pleasing to look at, except when he is looking cold-hearted (which is a great deal of the time).

In any case, though it may be wrong, I never saw such a rogue’s gallery for absolutely looking like evil people.

While most states allow governors to be impeached, only 18 states have voter-recall provisions. The states are Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Georgia, Idaho, Kansas, Louisiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Montana, Nevada, New Jersey, North Dakota, Oregon, Rhode Island, Washington, and Wisconsin. But even if you live in one of those states, your budget deficit is spiraling out of control, and your governor can’t show his face without threat of bodily injury, you still may not be jumping on California’s recall bandwagon anytime soon. For one thing, although a California governor can be ousted for pretty much any reason, six of those other states require the chief executive to have committed specific wrongs. These include actual crimes and other malfeasance. For example, the governor of Alaska would be risking recall if convicted of a “crime involving moral turpitude.”
