Quote of the day

posted at 9:30 pm on June 28, 2009 by Allahpundit

“But, look, I just think that what we’ve been doing over the last six months is getting people back into fighting trim. This is a town where there was just a belief that nothing could get done… I’ll use just the workout metaphor, and that is, you know, when you start training again and you’re pushing your body a little bit harder, sometimes it hurts. But if you keep on at it, after a while your body adjusts. And I think that’s what’s happening to politics in Washington. Folks have been sitting on the couch for a while, and now they’re starting to feel like, hey, you know what, I can run. And that’s why we’re getting stuff done.”

I’d also thought that Bush, McCain, and some Democrats had made real efforts a couple of years ago to try to deal responsibly with the difficult issue of immigration.

You thought wrong. Shamnesty was not at all a responsible way to deal with the immigration invasion or American solvency.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. We will be able to watch these parasites go down in flames. We’ll have a short time to enjoy it, as we will be following soon after.
Small consolation.
And God help us, but I think He has given us more than enough chances.

Lanceman on June 28, 2009 at 10:42 PM

There was a book written about stealing elections. If we don’t do something now about ACORN and all the Democratic Secretary of States who helped steal many many votes for Obama then we are going to have a bloody civil war in this country. The Democrats are shameless and dishonest and cheat and steal elections we have got to stop this and now!

Another thing that someone posted is that we have to get the incumbents out…we need to run and support real conservatives. Sarah Palin coud get elected and then be impotent if we don’t also elect people who will support her (or another real conservative) 100%

ladyingray on June 28, 2009 at 11:01 PM

Well. On one point that quote is accurate. The fight is definitely on and quite a few people are pissed that they have to take time out of their lives to deal with this nut case and his minions. It’s not like it’s even a good fight. My mother always told me: “Never get into a fight with a crazy person. People won’t be able to tell the difference.” It was good advice. But Mom never, on her worst day, could have imagined the bad crazy lunatic we call Mr. President these days.

And we expect [those] people to live by a higher standard, because what they do is going to be magnified, their families are going to be hurt more by what they do, the things they care about will be hurt, and the culture of the nation and the people who follow them will be hurt.” ..Mitt Romney

99 percent of us comment on various blogs to vent. We vent with great emotion, but it translates to nothing more than an occasional vote for either one or the other face of the same corrupt political machine.

The political machine has become corrupt because we have become to exhausted earning our livings and living our lives to actually get involved in the larger aspects of running our lives.

This guy just gets more repugnant by the day. Where was the media when George Bush actually tried to enact true meaningful reform of Social Security? He was shut down instantly by the media and the Dems. Now this joker comes along and pretends he is the only one to bring about change and “get things done.” Unfortunately his change means returning to the days of Jimmy Carter.

ladyingray on June 28, 2009 at 11:10 PM

tomorrow is monday — not a good time to get blasted

But I will share a story the last time I threw up from drinking.

It was almost two years ago.

I was on campus at the GF’s place, and we were drinking with an old friend who graduated the year before — he was visiting.

It was around Halloween. We had lots of Halloween candy, and we were drinking in the apartment. I drank WAY too much too quickly (IDK how I lost track — generally I’m very good). Then I ate WAY too much chocolate candy.

An hour or two later, I tried marijuana for the first time in the parking lot outside, and almost got hit by a car doing 30 or so.

After playing frisbee and running into a parked car, I decided it was time to go to bed, but when I laid down, the room was spinning so hard. If I moved one centimeter, I felt like I was gonna puke

So I went to the bathroom to puke, but I couldn’t figure out how. I stood over the toilet, and said “Well, when I move, I want to hurl, so maybe I’ll headbang like I’m at a concert.” So I did, and I puked so hard and so much, Mother Mary would cry. Projectile too. MOAB style.

I felt so much better. Then my GF hurled, and my friend who hadn’t hurled from drinking in two years before that hurled as well. Hatrick!

Haven’t tried the mary jane since

blatantblue on June 28, 2009 at 11:15 PM

I’ve got to take my son out for a walk. Night all. Thanks for the laughs.

txag92 on June 28, 2009 at 11:16 PM

Moral of the story:

When you want to make yourself throw up, just stick your finger in your throat

Don’t headbang like a Metallica member while three nerdy kids watch you from a crack in the doorway
