Quote of the day

posted at 9:30 pm on June 27, 2009 by Allahpundit

“We stand corrected, the truth is every Democrat hopes Governor Palin is in the public eye for a long, long time, especially on the 2012 presidential ballot,” Kerry spokeswoman Jodi Seth says. “Lately it’s been Vice President Cheney that everyone hopes would lose the cameras and go for a long leisurely hike on the Appalachian Trail. And good grief, if anyone thinks John Kerry is afraid of strong, smart women, they sure haven’t met his brilliant wife and two independent daughters. It sounds like getting crushed these last two election cycles cost some of these Republicans their sense of humor.”

A better strategy;

1. Identify the core principals we all can agree on – for starters:
A. Fiscal Conservatism
B. Smaller Government
C. American Exceptionalism
D. A Defense Policy/Foreign Policy that recognizes our vital place in the world
E. A strong stand in defense of freedom and liberty
F. Support for free-market capitalism as the vital engine of our economy
G. Energy independence

Then, we can agree to disagree on some of the issues that won’t easily be resolved (for example, faith vs. unbelief.)

And we can rigorously enforce the 11th commandment.

There now, thats a better plan.

massrighty on June 27, 2009 at 10:53 PM

massrighty on June 27, 2009 at 11:02 PM

First, I don’t mind labels (well some ideological labels), if we are willing to still try to work together.

Second, yes, you are right. The only way we (the movement) will have a fighting chance in 2010 and come back in 2012 is if we start

1) talking to each other in a reasonable manner

2) uniting on the things we do agree on (and momentarily push the rest to the side)

3) Instead of doing nothing or coming up with solutions, we need to come up with ideas that could inspire the individual to solve problems.

From wiki…

Teresa Heinz is the life estate beneficiary or outright beneficiary of her husband’s trusts, making her either extremely wealthy in her own name, or powerful as a trustee of Heinz family wealth. Sen. Kerry is wealthy in his own right, though not to the same degree, since he became a trust fund beneficiary of his mother’s and Forbes family trusts. Sen. Kerry and Teresa Heinz signed a prenuptial agreement and have kept their premarital assets separate.

Started voting as a conservative within the GOP in 1972 but the Party “left” me in 2002. Too many promises not kept. I will continue to vote conservative in the future but what do I believe “me lyin eyes” or their “lyin lips”

Quote from one of the “top picks” above:

Pelosi’s office declined to comment on Boehner’s jab. But one Democratic aide quipped, “What do you expect from a guy who thinks global warming is caused by cow manure?”

Dude; we use COW MANURE for potted plant base (see “Dirty Jobs” on Discovery Channel), for compost, soil, whatever those liberals cannot think how we can use cow crap for. Sure stinks when neighbors dump the truck’s manure for their garden, but heh isn’t that GIVING BACK TO EARTH what this wonderful animal consumes (and most of us do too?)

Heh I remember this frustrated farm owner that dumped a whole truck of manure in front of a bank b/c he was angry at them. Hope I can fetch the video; perhaps farmers here in the US could use that example and dump some of that crap in (state your intentions, location and/or place of business here).

Q: You’d be different from Laura Bush?

A: Well, you know, I don’t know Laura Bush. But she seems to be calm, and she has a sparkle in her eye, which is good. But I don’t know that she’s ever had a real job — I mean, since she’s been grown up. So her experience and her validation comes from important things, but different things. And I’m older, and my validation of what I do and what I believe and my experience is a little bit bigger — because I’m older, and I’ve had different experiences. And it’s not a criticism of her. It’s just, you know, what life is about.

RalphyBoy on June 27, 2009 at 11:06 PM

Those information on Wiki was inaccurate. The money from Kerry ‘s mother side of the family had dwindled by the time it reach the days of John Kerry. His mother side of the family carried blue blood’s name but without the blue blood’s money anymore. John Kerry, who had to be a hanger-on in the Boston Brahman circle, was a poor little poor boy. That may explain his subsequently being deeply insecure. John Kerry got his money by marrying women with money.

From Time Magzine:
Kerry’s mother Rosemary Forbes was descended on her mother’s side from Governor Winthrop. On her father’s side, the Forbes shipping clan’s fortune allowed the family to collect mansions all over the world. But Rosemary was one of 11 kids, which meant the money didn’t stretch too far across her generation. John Kerry got to spend time at the family estate in France, but the reason he and his siblings could attend the fancy schools they did was that his great-aunt Clara had no children of her own and paid their way.

Some people like the Abe Lincoln’s rebuttal to General Halleck’s discomfiting regard for Grant during the cival war. Halleck was jealous of Grant’s past victories including the battle at Shiloh. Halleck did not want to reinstate Grant to a commanding general position. Lincoln thought otherwise. So Lincoln told Halleck “We can’t spare this man, he fights!”.
.
I hope in the future we can circumvent with “she fights” rhetoric. It must be noted to you that during Grant’s time as President he was befuddled at best and at worst the corruption ran rapid when he was in office. I surely would like to distance from that “she fights” meme if you don’t mind.

Buckaroo on June 28, 2009 at 12:33 AM

The Democrats thought they could make Reagan into a punching bag, but after he turned the economy around they could only grumble among themselves about what a dunce he was.

They were able to make Dan Quayle into a punching bag because the Republicans were terrified of him saying something that would confirm the negative stereotype that the media created for him. So they kept him in a closet.

They were able to make W into a punching bag because he didn’t fight back.

Now they think they can turn Sarah into a punching bag. But she’s got tons of potential and is exactly the kind of politician that this country needs. Even many die hard feminists who disagree with her admire her and are rooting for her.

They want to destroy her because they’re terrified of her.

1.MA Voters. Where is the consistency? They vote for Oldsmobile submarine Captains & PT109 Wanna be’s.

2.a little poke at Romney. To get elected in that state as a republican…..something doesn’t make sense there.

Let’s see, blue state elects Mitt. How did that happen?
.
I portend to think it was because Mitt was and is a WINDSOCK. He would be good for a cabinet post and that is it. We have a representative out here in Washington state who behaves the same way. This republican voted for the cap and trade bill yesterday. Why did he do that? Because he says one thing and does another when the vote really counts. Kind of like Mitt, you know Massachusetts health care initiated by Mitt the WINDSOCK. Panders to the left when he thinks it will get him re-elected. I will not forget that and neither should any of you.

Americannodash on June 28, 2009 at 12:53 AM

They want to destroy her because they’re terrified of her.

ardenenoch on June 28, 2009 at 12:33 AM

The more I see, the more I tend to agree with you. The left is pulling out all the stops to try and break her.

The thing is, I don’t think the metrosexual, birkenstock wearing, Latte sippers understand what they are in for.

Keep in mind that she has worked regularly on a Fishing boat in Alaskan Waters. That is one dangerous job. They make fun of her hunting but they have no idea what is involved. Being out in the wild in Grizzly country in freezing weather isn’t for the pantywaists. On top of that, she is once again travelling to a war zone to see her troops.

I think the left is doing some projection and shooting themselves in their painted toenailed feet.

When I used to be in the martial arts, there was a tactic where you just let your opponent punch themsleves out. Let them keep attacking and just block or dodge everything. Then, when they are worn out, knock the cr*p out of them. I’m hoping that the lefties punch themselves out before 2012 with regard to Gov Palin. After a while, the ‘jokes’ will wear thin and maybe even backfire.

I do think she is doing the right thing by firing back. That will help keep them off balance. If she never replied, then things are predicatable. When she fires back, then things aren’t so predicatable and there are some, albeit minor, consequences.

1. Obama did lose some of the special needs people with his “Special Olympics” gaffe

2. Bucktooth Letterman is having a bit of trouble with some advertisers. It won’t be fatal but it might cause the usage of some exedrin

3. The photoshop of baby trig exposes the democraps for the vile piles of pig droppings they are. On top of that, the photos of the blogger who did it are floating around now.. Think “jabba the hutt”

The technique is basically to cause some level of pain to the attacker every time the attack. It was a neat way to handle a bully in physical fighting. What you did was block their punches with extreme force. They felt a LOT of pain but it didn’t look like you really did anything to them.

The trick with countering the ad hominem attacks and attacks on her children is that Gov Palin has to be careful to not look like a victim. She does seem to have things in hand though.

bullseye on June 28, 2009 at 12:54 AM

Oh yeah, one last thought for tonight. I think Gov Palin may have more time in theater with her troops than Ghengis Khan did.

bullseye on June 28, 2009 at 12:59 AM

meant to say Ghengis Kerry

The left is going to run out of ammo. They are going to blow their insanity wads early. Independents and moderates are going to have heard all of the BS and by ’12 are going to demand to hear actual arguements againt Palin and not this facade the left has formed. If the dems actaully have to start debating Palin, and the public sees she is not empty suit….this things over. They voted for Empty suit last time.

I was just a tot at the time, but I would sooner call myself a Nixonian Republican than a McGovern Democrat.

That’s my point.

I did not see your rathers or sooners anywhere in your original point that I rebuked you on. I myself was 10 years old at that time but research of Nixon in my later years provided me quite an education of the history of Nixon.

Americannodash on June 28, 2009 at 1:01 AM

“We stand corrected, the truth is every Democrat hopes Governor Palin is in the public eye for a long, long time, especially on the 2012 presidential ballot,” Kerry spokeswoman Jodi Seth says.

Methinks she doth protest too much!!

A year from now, the desperation of their failed leadership will be so obvious, one of them is just going to stick out their tongue at the camera.

AP, Ed…are you archiving these? We should save as many predictions as possible and see how they pan out.

And good grief, if anyone thinks John Kerry is afraid of strong, smart women, they sure haven’t met his brilliant wife and two independent daughters.

In other words: Kerry’s wife and two daughters are bitches that walk all over him. In short he is whipped.

First Letterman and now Kerry. The ‘Cuda strikes again with a shark attack.

It sounds like getting crushed these last two election cycles cost some of these Republicans their sense of humor.”

Excuse me Jodi, but I haven’t had a good laugh in months. Hard to do watching the undoing of my Nation.

could not agree more. I think the dems are fighting the last war. They were able to paint Palin has a dumb bimbo because McCain was too old and too stupid to see what was going on. Or he was not man enough to take them on. even the interviews with Gibson and Curoic were a failed effort by McCain to capture the groundswell of Palin. mcCian kept Palin under wraps which allowed the bimbo jokes to gain traction.

Palin is anything but a bimbo. she is very smart, very cool under pressure, and very couragous. If the dems continue to fight the last war (i.e Palin is stupid0 it will only take one great interview, one great debate, or one great “spontanous” moment to destroy that attack line. And if she does the dems are done they have nothing left. they can not attack her record as gov, they can not attack her personal life (they already used her two daughters what’s next they going to go after piper?) no skeletons in Palins past thus all she has to do to become the leading voice of the gOP is prove that she is not stupid. And that is easily done because she isn’t.

unseen on June 28, 2009 at 1:50 AM

Maybe they’ve just come to the realization that they’re not going to experience the domination fantasy they dream of with Gov.Palin so they are just making due with the verbal version.
