Senator McCain... too often infuriates a huge percentage of the Republican base with uncompromising policy views that are not at all conservative or even moderate at times, and he ran a terrible presidential campaign.

Loxodonta on June 26, 2009 at 3:21 PM

If the NRC is now completely gutless, where do we sign up for a new, third party?

The Independent party always seemed to me to be a little too goofy.

So let's have a Party. How about the New American Party. Nobody could argue with the name. The platform: conservative, common sense.

If it was done right, I think it could attract some of the remaining Republican conservatives in the House and Senate (there must be at least two or three?).

Anybody want in?

At this rate, I'm beginning to wonder if anyone can last another four years. Remember, we still have the Nork July 4 celebration to look forward to.

If, as the left is forever reminding us, the great danger in O speaking up for the revolution is having the regime twist his words to paint them as American stooges, how to explain his Hopenchange benediction for Mousavi here?

I'm sure Kos will be sure to tell us.

Well, I'll say this in reference to McCain - I remember watching a post-fight interview with Miguel Cotto who had just lost his first professional fight after winning about 30. He was being asked the usual post-fight questions losing boxers get asked, "why didn't you do this? why didn't you do that?"; and he responded that he thought it was funny that whenever he won a fight, reporters acted as though he didn't do anything wrong. But as soon as he finally lost one, reporters started acting as though he didn't do anything right.

Obama was stupidly insisting there’s no difference between Mousavi and Ahmadinejad.

Not stupid if it's true.

But oh right, when this is pointed out you greeniacs quickly respond that it' not about Mousavi!!!111! Maybe to not you, but it kinda is for those actually protesting, sorry.

I'm sick of this percentage canard. It's not about quantity of votes. It's about the big ones he pushes, like shamnesty, campaign finance reform which infringes on the first amendment, and vetoing the Bush tax cuts. He drinks the global warming kool-aid like a champ, too.

The only thing that moves him is his own sense of offense. He prostrates himself for fools and then is surprised when they walk all over him.

He never condemned Wright until Wright dissed him at the Press Club; he never condemned Iran until DinnerJacket dissed him on the global stage.

It's all me, me, me.

No attacks on McCain, please. I still believe he’s the best of the Republican Party and did as well in 2008 as any Republican could have done.

I was not attacking McCain. I was just stating the facts. If he had wanted the job bad enough, he would have fought for it.

Agree, but I don't think it would have made a bit of difference.

A Democrat President was pretty much inevitable and if you think he was a weak candidate, then just be glad that's the last you'll see of him.

Bammy won't be a cipher candidate in 2012, he'll be exposed in all his glorious corruption, extremism and incompetence.

I respect Senator McCain for his military service. He gave a good speech about Neda this week. Nothing should have been held back that would have opened some dope's eyes about who and what Obama truly is. I really honestly feel like we as a nation need protection from his idiotic policies. He has shown weakness in every way possible and he is as dishonest as they come.

No apologies for Ahma-whatever-his-name-is? Well, no wonder. Barry's flat out. He used the last twenty on his last trip abroad.

(Funny how much easier it is to apologize for someone else than for oneself.)

No attacks on McCain, please.

Why not? He's one of the most liberal Republicans in congress.

I still believe he’s the best of the Republican Party and did as well in 2008 as any Republican could have done.

Then you're utterly out of your mind.

Too bad McCain couldn’t find the will to fight back in the campaign. He kept taking all of our ammo off the table and trying to take the high road. In the future screw the high road, protect the American people.

I guess he figured that with the movement suddenly flagging and Khamenei blaming America anyway, he might as well extend his middle finger the whole way and give the kids in Tehran a morale boost. Or maybe he’s finally realizing that nothing he says (or, rather, doesn’t say) is going to make the mullahs more willing to negotiate
Or maybe the polls said Americans think he should say more. He stuck his finger up and the wind just happened to be blowing in that direction.

How dare Obama foist Western ideals of what truly are "international norms". We should avoid trying to imprint our definitions of international norms on places like Saudi Arabia, Venezuela, China, Albania, Somalia, and Iran. I mean Booosh arrogantly attempted this in his failed act of aggression on Iraq and Afghanistan. Obama must stop following the failed policies of Bushitler.
