And, because the revenge helps out soldiers in a combat zone, it's oh so much sweeter!

But it can be good revenge for all the years of Country Kitchen accessories I've received for my stainless steel contemporary kitchen! ;)

A few years ago people were kept asking what I wanted for Christmas and I couldn't think of anything. I finally decided that I shouldn't force myself to come up with a list of commercial goods I wanted if I didn't really want any, so, instead, I made a list of charities that I like to support.

I picked some specific items from the World Vision gift catalog, added in some other charities I support such as Soldiers Angels and AnySoldier.com and then put a note at the bottom that those are just some suggestions and I'd be happy to have donations to any charities they prefer.

My immediate family (mom, dad, siblings) were cool and thought it was a great idea. My extended family got really upset, my aunt threatened to donate to Habitat for Humanity (as if I would have a problem with that) and my cousin gave me a Barnes and Noble gift card and said, "I already donate to charity on my own."

As much as you might think charity is a non-offensive way to go, it really sets some people off.

I don't know why you keep repeating this. Whatever Trollhammer did, it was not in these comments. And as I have said before, I don't know anything about it, and had nothing to do with it -- why keep dragging my name into it?

Thanks. Y'know I knew she hated Bush, but didn't realize it extended to the troops. When I get a gift I don't care for I just say thanks, and move on.

Very minor quibble. I'd like it if they asked users for our CVV2 number (the 3 or 4 digits on the back of the card) in order to complete an online transaction. Perhaps you could suggest that upgrade?

If only you could publish her name, I would donate in her name. Alas I am forced to donate in Barack Obama's name. Leaving now to see if I can.

Your gifts were very thoughtful and caring. My sympathies that your twin reacted as she did.

Well, I wouldn't have cut off communication but even if it was "to the troops" I still would have been pissed off... there are a lot of scam organizations, info miners, etc... and I can do my own charity...

I would agree if I made the donation to satan worshippers or something equally repugnant. What kind of loser would begrudge some comfort items to troops who are fighting and dying for a liberals' freedom to be an idiot?

That's your own fault... I would be po'd if my brother or sister put any donation in my name that didn't go through me first...

Funny/sad Troopathon story. Last year I made donations in my name, my twin sisters name and a friend who shares mutual birthday (tomorrow!) for birthday presents. Friend was very pleased, liberal sister was PISSED OFF. Apparently, if I want to make a donation in HER name it should be to PETA or ASPCA, not TROOPS. We haven't spoken since this time last year.

I didn't make any donations in her name anywhere this year, just doubled up on mine!
