The obligatory “Obama’s health-care infomercial bombs in the ratings” post

Did Ed post a schadenfreude thread for this earlier today? Between monitoring news about celebrities dying and googling for photos of Sanford’s mistress, I’ve lost track of what we’ve covered and what we haven’t.
In case not, please feel free to schaden your freude below.
The one-hour ABC News special “Primetime: Questions for the President: Prescription for America” (4.7 million viewers, 1.1 preliminary adults 18-49 rating) had the fewest viewers in the 10 p.m. hour (against NBC’s “The Philanthropist” debut and a repeat of “CSI: NY” on CBS). The special tied some 8 p.m. comedy repeats as the lowest-rated program on a major broadcast network.
The special was shot at the White House and featured the president answering questions about his health care plan. The president’s primary message was that those who like their current insurance will be able to keep it and that taking no action will result in higher health care costs.
What’s the true significance of this? Is it proof that Obama is so overexposed that people would rather gamble on a show with a title as crappy as “The Philanthropist” than watch him anymore? Or merely proof that health-care policy is so dry and byzantine a subject that not even having Megan Fox as his co-host could have gotten The One an audience last night?

You’re right, of course, but remember; this administration also creates distractions (attacking Rush, etc..) along with their “flood the zone” offensive strategy. They’ve put so many things in play, all at once, that some of them have to get through.
So, do we get stuck with Cap and Trade, Stimulus II (or is it III,) Card Check, Health Care?
Which one gets through?

I do not want any of these passed, but health care would ruin this country. We can repel, or undo the other stuff, but as Rush says health care might end this country as we know it. Despite the horrific impact on all of us, if one had to pass I guess I would pick Cap and Tax. It would be the easier one of the three to undo over time, and would have such an impact that people would finally wake up to the insanity that is this Administration. The way the Unions are taking over everything, we must not allow card check.

The pessimist in me says that most people don’t care about the specifics and will support it regardless.

Email addresses for Congress. I’ve cleaned them up as best as I can, though some may bounce. Tell Congress they’re done destroying this country, and send these to your family and friends.

He’s toast. He is floundering. The American people are distracted, true, but they can and do multi-task, so don’t think that they didn’t notice the major Iran flounder that Obama did this past couple of weeks. He stunk up the place and everybody saw it. Health care–it’s all about sticker-shock. If they pass it while the American people aren’t looking, ooh-Lawdy, gonna be some serious a$$-whoopin coming. They’d better hope they don’t pass this health care bill, or this energy tax bill, because those will make everything so much worse by 2010, that the Dems will be looking for a place to hide. They will have vote amnesia that will rival their “authorization of the use of force” vote amnesia. I voted for it, before I voted against it, Kerry will be saying. Personally, I hope they don’t get health care, bc they could screw up private insurance for ever. Cap and trade will screw things up royally, but not irrevocably, at least.
