Today, on the Ed Morrissey Show (Special time: 2:30 pm ET), we have a great show on tap! We start early with John Shepherd, one of the producers of The Stoning of Soraya M, a brilliant film opening tomorrow in limited release around the country. We’ll talk about how the film came to be made, the hurdles it had to clear to get into theaters, and the message Shepherd and the rest of the people at MPower hope to tell with it.
Afterwards, Jim Geraghty joins me to discuss the politics of the day, including the meltdown in South Carolina and the Dukakis moment from Obama last night. In the middle of that hour, we’ll talk with Mark Boal, the screenwriter for The Hurt Locker, who embedded with a bomb-disposal unit in Iraq and tells his story in this new documentary. It opens in wide release next week, but New York City and Los Angeles moviegoers can catch it this weekend.
Now you can join the conversation in the chat room! Be sure to register at Ustream to participate in our raucous live-chat sessions. (And if the log-in prompt doesn’t come up in the chat box below, use this link instead.) Jazz Shaw of The Moderate Voice and The Monster moderate the chat, and they have Troll Gun Trivia Contest running before the show, for those who get there early — and are registered!

Dude, I saw an interview on BBC America with one of the actresses there. She was BRILLIANT. Fox definitely needs to find her and book her. She played the aunt or sister of the girl that got stoned.
Everyone should see her interview. Basically her theme was ‘we should denounce stoning women’. It’s something everyone should be for. . . but in her interview, she went over the many times people in the Islamic world didn’t accept that view, or it was ‘nuanced’.
Seriously, look into booking her. That woman should be famous. I’m so glad I caught her interview.

I did wonder what invitation Iran would extend to America in return for the (belatedly rescinded) July 4 “hot dog” diplomacy.

Go see this film. It depicts the horrors of Islam and Islamic society.

I hope that you aren’t insinuating that The Hurt Locker is a documentary. It’s not. It’s a character study of a seemingly fearless bomb diffuser in Iraq. Directed by Kathryn Bigelow (Point Break, among others) It looks intriguing as all get-out, or more accurately, all blow-up.
