Michael Jackson suffers massive heart attack, in critical condition; TMZ: Jackson dead

He wasn’t breathing when the paramedics got there and he’s in “really bad shape” in the hospital according to a family member. Apart from feeling instinctive human sympathy for his suffering, I’m not sure how to react. He’s super famous — yet mostly famous at this point for being a walking freak show. He’s had a tough life psychologically — but might very well be a child molester. In a sense this is huge news, yet in another sense I’m not sure why anyone would much care these days. I’ve completely lost my news bearings!
Stand by for (hopefully happy) updates.
Update: A sentiment we can all hopefully agree upon: “Thriller” was a simply dynamite album.
Update: RIP.
Michael suffered a cardiac arrest earlier this afternoon and paramedics were unable to revive him. We’re told when paramedics arrived Jackson had no pulse and they never got a pulse back.
Michael is survived by three children: Michael Joseph Jackson, Jr., Paris Michael Katherine Jackson and Prince “Blanket” Michael Jackson II.
Let the overdose speculation begin.
Update: Writes Jim Treacher of Jacko’s and Farrah Fawcett’s demise, “How many more icons of my youth can we lose in one day? Stay strong, Hasselhoff. Stay strong.”
Update: As of 6:10 ET, TMZ’s still the one and only news outlet I know that’s reporting Jackson died. Then again, they were also the first to report that he’d had a heart attack so their sources presumably are solid. Even so, the LA Times claims Jackson’s in a coma. If TMZ jumped the gun, it’ll be a journalistic blunder for the ages.
Update: OK magazine is also reporting he died. Interesting how the celebrity gossip sites are way ahead of the legit news organizations.
Update: Sad confirmation from the LA Times that he is indeed dead. What a scoop by TMZ.
Update: Still the best video ever, but then a Romero fan would say that. Click the image to watch.
Update: Needless to say, this is going to be one interesting autopsy.
Update: I wonder which multimillionaire talking-head cable news anchor will be the first to complain that they have to cover this story, as if it’s beneath them.

In the mean while, Congress votes on cap & tax tomorrow while everybody is fixated on this death.

Look, folks. I gotta say something here because some of these comments are irking this old broad.
Yes, this man was VERY weird for the last at least 10 years and more than a little odd for years before that. That said, before Hollywood and that lifestyle finally caught up with him Michael Jackson was an extremely talented individual.
No, I have not forgotten he had issues with children and that is putting it nicely. But I have also not forgotten what he was before Hollyweird (Thanks Michelle Malkin, you said it right) chewed him up. Anyone who watches footage of him as a child and then again during the Thriller years cannot say anything else. But it wasn’t long after Thriller became iconic that he really began to set off my weird-s&^%-o-meter, and I was a huge fan as a young person. As young as I was, I could see it.
That said, there are people in this world who have been given far more credit for far less and lamented following their deaths far more than they deserved. Just as Michelle Malkin and others have said, I choose to remember Michael Jackson as he WAS not what he became. That may be childish, silly and unrealistic, but too darned bad.
I have not been as big a fan of his for many years now, but I still feel as if a part of my youth is gone. Silly, probably, sad, yep. But by God I’m going to at least throw up a prayer for his family and thank him for the joy his music gave me all those years ago. I’m so glad I got to see him live on stage back then, before weirdness became his norm.
On a truly negative side, I’m furious with myself (just a little) because I’m watching with anxious anticipation to see how long it takes the Obama Admin to use this for their own ends. I bet it doesn’t take them a week or more to comment on this death. Too bad they’re not as concerned about the other thousands who have died over the last few days in Iran and all around the world, casualties of a war for freedom, not their own implosions.

I actually just heard about Micheal Jackson’s death. This is like when I was a kid and heard about Elvis being dead. This is a big death. His life touched everything. It is really weird that he is gone from this earth. I pray the Lord will have mercy and he will find peace in the next life.

Which means at least 7-10 days of adoring coverage from the MSM.

Good riddance. No more child victims of sexual abuse by this pedophile.
tx2654 on June 26, 2009 at 12:30 AM
Harming children is crossing a bridge into a land of pure evil. Weird is only weird. Freaky is only freaky. Enchanting boys into one’s bedroom, serving these young boys alcohol, and then sleeping in the same bed…
I’m the father of two young men; once young boys. I simply can’t remember Michael Jackson for anything other than what he did to those young boys.
Keemo on June 26, 2009 at 12:31 AM
You’re welcome. He was very handsome before he ruined himself. The demon was self-hatred.
Being a few years younger than Michael was and having grown up in LA, all sorts of rumors floated around about the Jackson 5 back then (1970s). One ugly one that rings true: that Michael had been molested by a certain male actor prominent in the time period. I’d rather not say who because the man is still living and I’m not in the mood to get sued. Suffice it to say that it is not someone who everyone would recognize.

But Keemo (whiney voice) Michael was an icon to me so I try to forget he molested kids, and only remember him for moonwalking and theb Thriller album. I can do this because I am shallow.
Jeff from WI on June 26, 2009 at 12:41 AM
That seems credible. And combined with his harsh childhood, it would explain a lot about the very questionable decisions he made later. Such a sad end for someone with so much promise.
Earlier I watched the clips from the Motown 25th Anniversary show on Youtube and, after all the years of negative thoughts about Michael Jackson, it put me right back in that astonishment and awe that he caused in all of us when he hit his stride as an artist.
There’s a really interesting story at the bottom of this web page, from February of this year, about how he thought he had a flesh-eating bacterial infection and would not live to see his children grow up. I’ve never seen it before, and it’s from the Enquirer but, hey, they’re the ones who nailed that slimeball John Edwards.

Anyone else having their comments moderated? I’ve never seen that before . . .
califcon on June 26, 2009 at 12:46 AM
Keemo and Jeff from WI are right on…
I remember the families of the boys Melvin molested loving the spotlight, knowing the payoff was coming. It was grotesque. At that point he became nothing in my mind. As Keemo said, you cross over into pure evil when you start abusing children.
Years later I saw the photos of him on the stand, like this one, and he became filthy.

I really hate that Jackson left Motown, moved to hollywood, and became a crazy white dude that couldn’t keep his hands off of kids but it does not compare to watching the worlds leadership and the UN do nothing while revolution is going on in probably the most dangerous and volatile country in the world.
To bad Ahmadinejad and the mullahs didn’t kill Jackson
in the streets of Iran, then maybe this so called “international community” and the UN would actually take action there.

Michael R.I.P. I was born in 1980 and there was no bigger celebrity in the world than mike. While his biggest hits, “thriller,” “billie Jean,” and “Bad,” had come before I was able to recognize music as anything besides noise, I still feel a profound loss for those who lived through that period of time. Before I disrespect his memory, let me just say “may GOD have mercy on his soul.”

Now that I’ve given him his due respect, I must ask “What the Frak was he thinking these last 20+ years?” Childhood is meant to be but a “moment” in the life of a a Man/Woman. Michael never outgrew that period. Maybe because he wanted to re-live that time or because he couldn’t see past it he spent his entire adulthood trying to recapture that “lost” period in his life. I pity him for that. However, the way he reacted to such realities is, (unfortunately,) by engaging in self-destructive behavior at best, and criminal endeavors against children at worst. In the the end he became a parody of himself. Such a waste of talent. For those that wish to remember him at his best go to Youtube and check out some of the Jackson 5.
libertarianator on June 26, 2009 at 2:22 AM
Any kid born in the early 80’s never knew a world without Michael Jackson as THE biggest music superstar in the world. A big part of our childhood memories died today.
dcwvu on June 26, 2009 at 2:28 AM
To those who are mourning the loss of talent and the product he produced, you should have been in mourning for the last 10-15 yrs. Some people are speaking of him as if he just put out his 30th hit record yesterday. He hasn’t done anything in over a decade except be a media/circus freak show. It is sad when someone passes away (although there are exceptions to the rule), but his talent and his ability to produce music that affected people’s lives in a positive way have been gone for years. The songs and videos that made him famous are still around just like they were yesterday and last week and for the last 20 yrs, the only thing that changed is that he is no longer living. Sorry but he lost his talent a long time ago, and Neda’s death was far more relevant for the here and now.

Wow….thirteen pages. It’s a tad bit to much to try to read through at 4am. Not sure I even want to try. I’m sure the MSM will catch me up on every little detail of MJ between now and September. Before it is all over we will all be told he died while being waterboarded by Palin and Michael Savage.

There’s certainly a lot of simply vile comments around this thread. Was Jackson a pedo? Who knows…none of us were, shall we say, in his bed as kids.
That 13-year old cancer victim and his mom were shady at best anyway. If they said Rush or Palin did what they claimed Jackson did, y’all would be immediately calling them phonies and liars, only after money.
Again, not making any excuses for Jackson’s addictions, or anything else. But the guy’s contribution to pop music cannot be denied.
At least wait until the body is cold before y’all beat him up.

Okay, Okay just go take a cold shower. His music will live on. As many musical artist have been in the past, they’re not remembered for their good or bad behaviors. It is the music that out lives the diatribes of the for and against arguments of the then and now fallen artists. Fifty to one hundred years from now it will be the music that will define MJ’s career. I hate to use the true greats of music Mozart & Beethoven who were weird too yet, it is their music that lives on thru the ages. MJ could only be so lucky. So relax and quit repeating yourselves over and over on this thread. It really sucks to hear it to ad nauseam.

There’s a lady who’s been cheated on named Sanford, which is like Sanford and Son the TV Show, which had an old aunt/mother in law, played by Maxine Waters, who fought with old decrepit David Obey, and in that fight the killed Micheal Jackson, whose brother was named after a Yugoslavian Communist dictator, and whose sister had a wardrobe malfunction, which may or may not have been planned to excite guys similar to the newly departed Farrah Fawcett did on Charley’s Angels in the 70s, which was the the high point of the Tonight Show that Co-starred Ed McMahon who just also died and left me without promised my Publishers Clearinghouse Check. I hope I got everything straightened out.

Farrah, Ed McMahon, and Michael Jackson.
I think Jeff and cmsinaz are full of shit punks who are jellous as hell of anyone who has been successful in life.
But the sad fact is the world is full of shitheaded punks who get their jollys out of pissing on peoples graves.
How do I know? Farrah on her death bed worrying over the ratings of the documentary about her impending death. Ed McMahon being forced into pimping himself out, doing a parody of his clearinghouse ads where instead of handing out checks he beggs past winners for a little bit of change back. Michael Jackson forced to book a 20 gig tour that he didn’t think he would survive, just to pay off the mortgage.
How the fuck does that happen in a just society?
The evidence is clear.
papertiger on June 26, 2009 at 8:49 AM
Oh boo hoo. If McMahon hasn’t put a dime away, it’s HIS fault he’s been a huckster for products since the 1950s. FF story does seem sad, but I don’t know much about it. As for Jackson, you’ll boo hoo a guy forced into working because his OWN PERVERTED ACTIONS caused his stratospheric career and paychecks to wave good bye.

This kid and her husband born in the early 80’s never cared about Michael Jackson growing up. And we were quite content with our childhood memories dying off, until they started being brought back in movie and toy form (looking at you, Care Bears and Transformers).
To be honest, someone earlier brought up the memory of Michael Monsoor – that still brings tears to my eyes. I mourn his loss, and the loss of our brave servicemembers, in my heart daily. I’m impatiently waiting, on the other hand, to not remembering on a daily basis that Michael Jackson existed.

Jackson earned hundreds of millions over his career. The guy bought the rights to the beatles music, and made millions from that investment alone.
How anybody could feel sorry for a guy who failed to live within his own means, is beyond me. Geez, this man earned more in one year than most of us will earn in our entire career.

MJ paid off a family or two or three for his actions concerning their son. The local media provided cover for MJ until the time came when even they had to throw down the gauntlet.

I had the Thriller album when I was a kid. I liked Michael Jackson’s music back then and I have to admit that his music does put a beat in my feet even to this day.
I don’t have any pity for him, but he did contribute some great music and dance moves in his life. There’s plenty of other things to flame him on but I’ll just remember the music for now.

Wow, some in here are pretty emotional about Jackson. Geez, get a life. He was just another Hollywood sicko.
I’m beginning to wonder if there are ADULTS with full size cardboard cut outs of MJ to go along with the MJ shrine on their dresser.

And you seem determined to recycling every cheap Letterman crack at Jacko’s expence from the last 15 years.
Better use em up now I guess.
Tomorrow you’ll have to find a new hobby.
