Michael Jackson suffers massive heart attack, in critical condition; TMZ: Jackson dead

posted at 5:25 pm on June 25, 2009 by Allahpundit
Share on Facebook | printer-friendly

He wasn’t breathing when the paramedics got there and he’s in “really bad shape” in the hospital according to a family member. Apart from feeling instinctive human sympathy for his suffering, I’m not sure how to react. He’s super famous — yet mostly famous at this point for being a walking freak show. He’s had a tough life psychologically — but might very well be a child molester. In a sense this is huge news, yet in another sense I’m not sure why anyone would much care these days. I’ve completely lost my news bearings!

Stand by for (hopefully happy) updates.

Update: A sentiment we can all hopefully agree upon: “Thriller” was a simply dynamite album.

Update: RIP.

Michael suffered a cardiac arrest earlier this afternoon and paramedics were unable to revive him. We’re told when paramedics arrived Jackson had no pulse and they never got a pulse back.

Michael is survived by three children: Michael Joseph Jackson, Jr., Paris Michael Katherine Jackson and Prince “Blanket” Michael Jackson II.

Let the overdose speculation begin.

Update: Writes Jim Treacher of Jacko’s and Farrah Fawcett’s demise, “How many more icons of my youth can we lose in one day? Stay strong, Hasselhoff. Stay strong.”

Update: As of 6:10 ET, TMZ’s still the one and only news outlet I know that’s reporting Jackson died. Then again, they were also the first to report that he’d had a heart attack so their sources presumably are solid. Even so, the LA Times claims Jackson’s in a coma. If TMZ jumped the gun, it’ll be a journalistic blunder for the ages.

Update: OK magazine is also reporting he died. Interesting how the celebrity gossip sites are way ahead of the legit news organizations.

Update: Sad confirmation from the LA Times that he is indeed dead. What a scoop by TMZ.

Update: Still the best video ever, but then a Romero fan would say that. Click the image to watch.

Update: Needless to say, this is going to be one interesting autopsy.

Update: I wonder which multimillionaire talking-head cable news anchor will be the first to complain that they have to cover this story, as if it’s beneath them.

No one more exemplified the Hollywood sewer culture than Michael Jackson. Right now, NBC is busy building a monument to him, with AirHead Extraordinaire Ann Curry presiding.

Time to shut off the Hollywood sewerpipe for good. No more NBC. I’m done with the trash merchants.

Sad as 9/11???? WTF is wrong with people in this country?!!!

I agree with what Hornet said earlier- this celebrity worship is sick (paraphrasing)

Good GOD!

bazil9 on June 25, 2009 at 9:46 PM

It’s un-f’ing real. Sometimes I think it’s no wonder that the Islamists want to kill us all when they see this pathetic creaming-in-their-jeans celebrity worship like this.

infidel4life on June 25, 2009 at 10:02 PM

I don’t think Comedy Central would… but if the writers of South Park were in charged, I’d go with the Michael Jackson ones… Oh, that’d be priceless.

The day Mel Gibson was arrested for his crazy rant, they re-aired the Passion of the Christ episode.

I just bought a new car stereo… When you shout out “Soul”, it plays soul music. When you shout out “Rock”, it plays rock music. Some kids ran in front of my car, and I shouted “fu&^%ng kids!”, and it played Michael Jackson.

Apparently, you felt the need to do so. I personally will not celebrate his death but I am not upset either. I agree with some posters here and believe he was guilty, as well as extremely unstable.

Even NRA radio is talking about this guy. I hope this isn’t still dominating radio and TV tomorrow. I know Greta, Nancy, and Geraldo will be all over it. But I hope talk radio doesn’t fall into covering this.

I hope not. Our local conservative talk guy was still on the cap and trade topic when I flipped to AM, so that was comforting.

Ah, c’mon . . . they are not all like him. Not even close. There are a lot of fairly regular folks among that crowd. I know because I’ve lived here for a very long time and they’re around. The freakshows are the ones who get all the press. And that’s ratings and, excuse me, but that’s what drives the dollars.

I don’t think Glenn Beck will get sidetracked he is on the Cap & Trade. I’ve already called my rep, sent faxes and signed petitions, so I’m hoping even if this does dominate people will still be calling the switchboard tomorrow instead of getting caught up in this story. It’s fine to discuss it but not to forget about the monstrosity they are trying to pass.

Drudge has a report linked from one of the UK papers, stating that one of MJ’s assistants said he’d had a shot of demerol. When Jermaine gave his statement a little while ago, he said that MJ’s personal physician was with him at the time. Google “demerol overdose” and it seems very credible that his doc shot him up and it killed him. TMZ has a report that he rehearsed last night at Staples Center and “But, we’re told, like other nights of rehearsal, Jackson was both hours late and lethargic.”

Yeah, I felt the same way at first. I used to think he was a little out there, but when stuff he predicted, that I thought was unthinkable, started happening I had to take him more seriously. He definitely has a schtick but once you get beyond that and start actually listening to what he says not how he says it, you realize damn he’s right why didn’t I see that.

church on June 25, 2009 at 10:13 PM

One thing: we won’t have to see the horror he would have been as a senior citizen. Good for him and us.

My 14 yr old daughter called me today and told me this. I found myself with a lump in my throat….trust me I am not an emotional person and have been told more than once that “i am a tough nut to crack” Plus I rooted for this guy to get convicted in his trial.

I had to step back and really think why I would have that reaction. After alot of thought I finally realized what it was. NASTALGIA…..

I was in high school in the year thriller came out. It couldn’t have bigger. Every time I hear a song off that album it takes me back to the years when things were simple. I was young, living with my parents and Reagan was the president. It just doesn’t get better than that.

My sadness wasn’t for Michael it was for a time long gone, I would trade Obama and what we have become for Reagan, my bedroom in my parents house AND MICHAEL JACKSON.

An Emergency Room source at UCLA hospital said Jackson aides told medics he had collapsed after an injection of potent Demerol — similar to morphine.

Watching Olberdouche tonight has actually been enjoyable. He has interviewed people that were very familiar with MJ and told details of his pathetic and reprehensible lifestyle. All the while of course KO is treating the passing of this twisted freak like it’s the Lincoln assasination.

Olberman was very confused with no clear enemy in sight.

He’ll blame MJ death on Bush or O’Reily

I think it will be a travesty if Obama doesn’t order flags flown at half-staff, as well as a state funeral. Jackson was as much as an icon and important to America as any politician.

You’ve got to be kidding…a lot of fine Americans died yesterday…if this is the standard, then American flags should be flown at half-mast every day.

It’s kind of a damned if you do, damned if you don’t situations.

If he does, he’ll offend all rape victims.

If he doesn’t, he’ll offend you.

I was nevertheless STUNNED. It is gonna be long weeks after this, and like a pen pal wrote on Twitter, line up and get those newspapers tomorrow after Farrah and Michael’s demises. It’s gonna be thicker, definitely!

1170+ posts and counting. On Michael Jackson.

Makes sense when you consider our American Idol president.

I’m stunned that Americans value this buffoons life (and yes, he was a self-centered freak) more than the brave Americans who actually sacrificed their lives for more than their perverted pleasure and fame…in Iraq and Afghanistan…time to move on. Bye Michael, you freak…you were something, but not everything.

Michael Jackson contributed more to the United States that was good than Obama ever will.

Jackson should lie in state in the capitol rotunda, with his casket draped with the NAMBLA flag.
