Michael Jackson suffers massive heart attack, in critical condition; TMZ: Jackson dead
posted at 5:25 pm on June 25, 2009 by Allahpundit
He wasn’t breathing when the paramedics got there and he’s in “really bad shape” in the hospital according to a family member. Apart from feeling instinctive human sympathy for his suffering, I’m not sure how to react. He’s super famous — yet mostly famous at this point for being a walking freak show. He’s had a tough life psychologically — but might very well be a child molester. In a sense this is huge news, yet in another sense I’m not sure why anyone would much care these days. I’ve completely lost my news bearings!
Stand by for (hopefully happy) updates.
Update: A sentiment we can all hopefully agree upon: “Thriller” was a simply dynamite album.
Update: RIP.
Michael suffered a cardiac arrest earlier this afternoon and paramedics were unable to revive him. We’re told when paramedics arrived Jackson had no pulse and they never got a pulse back.
Michael is survived by three children: Michael Joseph Jackson, Jr., Paris Michael Katherine Jackson and Prince “Blanket” Michael Jackson II.
Let the overdose speculation begin.
Update: Writes Jim Treacher of Jacko’s and Farrah Fawcett’s demise, “How many more icons of my youth can we lose in one day? Stay strong, Hasselhoff. Stay strong.”
Update: As of 6:10 ET, TMZ’s still the one and only news outlet I know that’s reporting Jackson died. Then again, they were also the first to report that he’d had a heart attack so their sources presumably are solid. Even so, the LA Times claims Jackson’s in a coma. If TMZ jumped the gun, it’ll be a journalistic blunder for the ages.
Update: OK magazine is also reporting he died. Interesting how the celebrity gossip sites are way ahead of the legit news organizations.
Update: Sad confirmation from the LA Times that he is indeed dead. What a scoop by TMZ.
Update: Still the best video ever, but then a Romero fan would say that. Click the image to watch.
Update: Needless to say, this is going to be one interesting autopsy.
Update: I wonder which multimillionaire talking-head cable news anchor will be the first to complain that they have to cover this story, as if it’s beneath them.

I was surprised when some shall we say more conservative girls had no idea what gifts the morning could bring… And, no, they weren’t homeschooled. They were taught sex ed and all…
Then again, I’ve just found out how worried some girls can get when I’m moving their fully covered mattresses…

And rightly so.

It is your opinion that if Astaire allegedly did a tribute to someone, it makes them the the most popular entertainer ever.
Thanks for demonstrating how silly and inconsequential your arguments really are.
Give everybody else a break. Don’t pretend your opinions are fact in order to force them down other people’s throats.

He never had a childhood, his life was set forth for him before he was born. He entertained people, brought joy to millions that liked his music.
Even those that don’t like him have to admit he was this day’s Elvis.
It was never proven he molested children but his fascination with children was odd. We will never know.
He came off as child like, obviously making up for his lost childhood.
Like Elvis I think we will find out he was an abuser of prescription drugs, he numbed his brain. Us “normal” folk can only guess the psycholigical strain of being on top and wanting to maintain that persona.
I feel for his kids. I feel for his fans.

Weird. I was as sheltered as they come as a kid, but my first real serious boyfriend was pretty open about things like that. He even told me about a dream he had about me. Even though I was a “wait ’till marriage” girl, I was flattered.
Esthier on June 25, 2009 at 9:12 PM
Very tragic, but for petes sake, there is real news going on.
ctmom on June 25, 2009 at 9:12 PM
Yeah, I think it’s better to be open about some of this stuff instead of pretending it doesn’t happen… You can still be a “wait ’till marriage boy/girl.”
Upstater85 on June 25, 2009 at 9:13 PM
I remember having a massive girl crush on Farah Fawcett…I was 14 in 1976 and wanted to be just like her… I loved Lee Majors in the 6 million dollar man and was happy they were married and so sad when they divorced.
I remember dragging my boyfriend home early from a date the night that MTV played the whole Thriller video. My all time favorite Michael Jackson song is Billy Jean…I always felt so bad about what became of him…I spent so many hours dancing to his music.
I hope that they died in good standing with God meaning I hope they were both saved…

there are recent photos of his children, unmasked, on the Daily Mail and no way they are biologically his. Wait, someone will want a DNA and the kids will be screwed, more so than they already have been.

What is inconsistant>? What I said at the onset was that children that were not mine were in my bed.
Come on. I really did NOT want to disclose many of the personal tribulations of families because I wanted to keep that ‘sacred’. I denied that in comments later by giving the world a deeper story. Now, I did that knowing that nobody could find me, save HotAir Admins, who could easily track me down. No problem at all.
But I, now, want to remain totally anonymous beCAUSE I revealed a painful truth of extended family members.
Yes, I loved MJ. Yes, I do not want to believe the worst in him. Yes, I could be a foolish woman for NOT believing that, but I was here to say that ummmmm, yeah, kids sleep with adults all the time…withOUT it being sexual.
If MJ was a Pedo, yeah, F him.
But, he’s DEAD now. And being an artist, I feel strongly that his talent was lost in all of these allegations, mind you, never Proven. I may be naive. He may have been a wackjob.
I wish now that I had NEVER posted here. Just like ALL of my good friends say, “MJ is a perv and you’re a dumbass” LOL… I really am the only one in my circle to appreciate his creative genius and it pisses me off that it is clouded in heck like this.
I should have stopped at RIP MJ. I didn’t. I’m a woman..you know…an annoying hag that goes on and on and on…..

Yeah Farrah taunted all of us from that poster, with her feathered hair thrown back and hard nipples highlighting the red swimsuit.
The thing about both of them is that their passing forces us to see now their work as something clearly and forever in the past, and so too our youth recedes further and unambiguously into the distance.

The worst thing is that everyone (OK, not everyone, just every lefty) wants their own little 9-11 moment. It makes them feel warm and fuzzy and part of something. They look for anything (Katrina???) to compare to 9-11… I’d respect them more if they were just honest and said it was a sad day instead of comparing it to something that clearly is not in the same category.
