Michael Jackson suffers massive heart attack, in critical condition; TMZ: Jackson dead

posted at 5:25 pm on June 25, 2009 by Allahpundit
Share on Facebook | printer-friendly

He wasn’t breathing when the paramedics got there and he’s in “really bad shape” in the hospital according to a family member. Apart from feeling instinctive human sympathy for his suffering, I’m not sure how to react. He’s super famous — yet mostly famous at this point for being a walking freak show. He’s had a tough life psychologically — but might very well be a child molester. In a sense this is huge news, yet in another sense I’m not sure why anyone would much care these days. I’ve completely lost my news bearings!

Stand by for (hopefully happy) updates.

Update: A sentiment we can all hopefully agree upon: “Thriller” was a simply dynamite album.

Update: RIP.

Michael suffered a cardiac arrest earlier this afternoon and paramedics were unable to revive him. We’re told when paramedics arrived Jackson had no pulse and they never got a pulse back.

Michael is survived by three children: Michael Joseph Jackson, Jr., Paris Michael Katherine Jackson and Prince “Blanket” Michael Jackson II.

Let the overdose speculation begin.

Update: Writes Jim Treacher of Jacko’s and Farrah Fawcett’s demise, “How many more icons of my youth can we lose in one day? Stay strong, Hasselhoff. Stay strong.”

Update: As of 6:10 ET, TMZ’s still the one and only news outlet I know that’s reporting Jackson died. Then again, they were also the first to report that he’d had a heart attack so their sources presumably are solid. Even so, the LA Times claims Jackson’s in a coma. If TMZ jumped the gun, it’ll be a journalistic blunder for the ages.

Update: OK magazine is also reporting he died. Interesting how the celebrity gossip sites are way ahead of the legit news organizations.

Update: Sad confirmation from the LA Times that he is indeed dead. What a scoop by TMZ.

Update: Still the best video ever, but then a Romero fan would say that. Click the image to watch.

Update: Needless to say, this is going to be one interesting autopsy.

Update: I wonder which multimillionaire talking-head cable news anchor will be the first to complain that they have to cover this story, as if it’s beneath them.

About 50 I think.

Prayers to the family at this difficult time.

Even walking freakshows have families.

He was rather young (~51) so this is probably a side effect of over-medication.

Nethicus on June 25, 2009 at 5:28 PM

Love him or hate him, the guy’s an icon, so I guess he’s worth a furrowed brow and a “Wow! That’s awful!” I’ve always felt bad for his kids; I’ll feel worse for them if he dies.

How about the new Pew poll? Sure Alluhpundit won’t be posting it as his man Romney just isn’t up to snuff with “Republicans”. Would have thought such with “Conservatives” but not Republicans.

Eh… when it came out my brother bought it for me and I really wanted the Cindy Lauper album instead. I’ve never gotten over that.

I don’t see a reason to joke about a guy who may be about to die just because he was weird. It wasn’t cool with Teddy Kennedy, so it isn’t cool here either.

My two cents.

I hope he recovers swiftly.

Prayers for MJ and his family!!!
Not sure how to react? Wow. You are way too cynical and hardened for your age. Wait, I don’t know how old you are. Sad at any age.
Peace to MJ and especially his family.

His heart gave out because it was the last thing left of his body that was organic; pull it out and put a battery pack in its place and everything will be fine.

This is a sad day for the entertainment world. We have announcements of Farrah’s passing, and now a potentially tragic story of Michael Jackson;s health. Geesh, coupled with all of the political madness, it’s hard to have a happy smile today.

I was never a fan by any stretch, but I respected him as an artist right up until he adopted that mile high messiah complex and started cutting his face off.

Still, hope he pulls through.

CurtZHP on June 25, 2009 at 5:32 PM

How many weeks of “What a SAINT this man was” and how everyone else now should hang their heads in shame and blah blah blah….

Yes, Allah, Thriller was just so very very dynamite.

Marcus on June 25, 2009 at 5:32 PM

There is a sadness I feel about Jackson. I think he is/was stuck at the emotional levels of a 10 year old. He was used by his father, completely cut off from the real world, and didn’t learn how to cope with life.

Good luck Michael.

Liked it. I liked “Off the Wall” even better.

Saw him at MSG on 9/10/2001. Very good show. Slash came out for the guitar solo on “Beat It”.

Went to bed around 5AM after the show. In a few hours the city and the world was a very different place.

If Farrah doesn’t make it onto Hotair, why does this guy?

PastorJon on June 25, 2009 at 5:37 PM

He’s a cunning predator that picks kids from shonky homes so they and their parent(s) will never be believed.

Seems I recall he had some strange dietary habits but can’t remember precisely what they were.

Very strange guy, but Off the Wall and Thriller were damn good albums.

BuckeyeSam on June 25, 2009 at 5:37 PM

He made millions with his talent for music, then spent it paying off parents of the children he molested at his pajama parties when he was 40 years old.

Disturb the Universe on June 25, 2009 at 5:39 PM

Faucet and possibly Jackson die and the media are all over it. Darrell Powers died on June 17th. Were you aware of that? Or are you asking “Darrel who?” Not surprised, who of the 3 did no lead a self-centered life. Who of the 3 risked one hell of a lot for the benefit of others? And who, in the end, gets the most notice and attention? Just my perspective.

He’s a criminal, a pedophile, has gotten away with it, and has never expressed one iota of remorse. He is allowed to continue with his strange obsession with children. He is a potential danger to any male child. I don’t feel sorry for him one bit.

Blake on June 25, 2009 at 5:42 PM

People die every day, his death should carry no more weight than anyone else, regardless of his career. We have real heroes dying on the battlefield who the media ignores, for them I mourn. Michael Jackson? Not so much.

In a sense this is huge news, yet in another sense I’m not sure why anyone would much care these days. I’ve completely lost my news bearings!

Indeed. I’m watching Beck right now on DVR (a few minutes behind live) and he’s been talking about what the WSJ calls the biggest tax in history:

http://online.wsj.com/article/SB124588837560750781.html

It’s bad enough that we’re sitting here allowing a fascist, socialist dictator destroy this country and mold it in to something it was never meant to be. It’s bad enough that we keep allowing yet another “nail in the coffin” each week, making it increasingly impossible to EVER recover from what is being done.

But now we’ve got yet another GIGANTIC nail being pounded in… And we’re talking about this irrelevant freak that may or may not even be human at this point.

Wake up folks. I don’t think have a chance of saving this country at this point, but if we allow this “cap-and-tax” crap to pass, we’re making certain that this is indeed the beginning of the end of the United States of America.

Beck provides these numbers for the House switchboard:

202-225-3121 and 202-224-3121

I don’t wish death on anybody, but the guy is a child molester. These kids are better off being raised by someone else. Although since the people who surround Jackson have obviously aided and abetted his abuse of children, I don’t hold out much hope that they’ll have the best interest of these kids at heart.

Thriller was fantastic, though.
