John Kerry on Sanford: Too bad Palin didn’t go missing too
posted at 6:38 pm on June 24, 2009 by Allahpundit
Don’t be too hard on Waffles. His humor’s always been laced with nastiness, which is why he periodically finds himself in clusterfarks over “botched jokes.” It’s not that he hates Palin. He’s just a jerk.
The Bay State senator was telling a group of business and civic leaders in town at his invitation about the “bizarre’’ tale of how South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford had “disappeared for four days’’ and claimed to be hiking along the Appalachian Trail, but no one was really certain of his whereabouts.
“Too bad,’’ Kerry said, “if a governor had to go missing it couldn’t have been the governor of Alaska. You know, Sarah Palin.’’
The Democratic-centric crowd laughed.
He said this before Sanford’s presser so it’s not an adultery dig at her, just an “I wish you were lost and left for dead somewhere” dig. Which, believe it or not, isn’t the nastiest Palin attack circulating in the ‘sphere today.
Pew’s got a new poll out today showing Romney’s net favorable rating at +12, compared to just +1 for Sarahcuda. With Sanford and Huntsman now out of the game, Jindal almost certainly biding his time until 2016, and Palin possibly too polarizing to win against The One, we’d all better hope Mitt runs. Because if he doesn’t, an ominous scenario presents itself:

Nah, not on the GOP side. With the exception of George W. Bush, we’re notorious for nominating someone who was involved in a former election or primary. We make our nominee earn their dues by going through a previous grueling primary or a general election; we rarely just hand it to someone who hasn’t been tested on a national level.
It will be one of the 3: Palin, Romney or Huck.

It starts off with Tim Traveler whining about being lazy, like the song of the whales…ewwwwwww, ewwwwwww, you will hear the whine of the liberal calling to each other…quite dramatic. Mixed in with a few screams of dying baby’s being pulled from the womb…followed by the silence of the “liberated women” not caring…the howl of the mighty race card is constantly heard in the background…well I don’t want to spoil it all…but emerging from all the whining and crying, will be the soft song of Palin, pushing UPINAK forward, destroying all that is destroying America…a beautiful story of beauty and of strength…battling the whining and whimpering of the liberals.
It will be out in 2012…shown everywhere…preview in 2010.

Don’t forget the “million electric cars” that will be recharged from the pollution-free electric outlets in our homes.
Personally, I’ve always liked Romney. I know he’s not acceptable to some due to perceived indecisiveness on abortion, but it’s hard to imagine anything happening on that front in the next few election cycles anyway — with the country in the septic tank and the wacko Kim with his TinyDong 2 missile, and who-knows-what in Iran, it’s not going to get to the top of the agenda.
What I do believe Romney could do correctly is roll back the FedGov sharply, and dismantle all the crap Oboingo may (or may not?) put in place. He needs to come out strongly as a 10th Amendment, security-and-order, free-market, drill-here-and-now guy, which I think he is.
mr.blacksheep on June 24, 2009 at 7:28 PM
One thing is a safe prediction – if Palin is the R nominee next time, Obama’s team will move heaven abd earth to make sure he never has to debate her one-on-one. She is so much better spoken than he is that there is no comparison. Without his media question-proof armor, Obama is a pushover… of course we have never seen him without it, but someday we will and it won’t be pretty.

Attn: I think the heat on John Kerry needs to be turned up a notch. Let’s get into this limp handed dorkfark life a bit shall we.
.
A review of this Sen. from Mass. is required.
.
If wants to get popular again then let us put him on the defensive and deter his aggression to attack. There is so much negative information about this waste of space. Kerry is one of record of having no positive features to support any type of his snide remarks. He must be hobbled in such a way that demonstrates that his mind is only impeded by some mental limitation derived by his limp liberal standards of decorum.

Sort of gives you an idea of THAT state’s electoral brainpower too.
bradley11 on June 24, 2009 at 7:37 PM
I disagree. I like Palin in a lot of ways; she’s not cut from the same GOP cloth that most others are, and that’s appealing. She would make a good Veep, a great energy secretary, but I don’t think she’s ready to be President.
It doesn’t matter that she had more experience going in to the election than Obama did; the press ignored that and in 2012 Obama will have 4 years under his belt (God help us).
She also got pigeonholed (read: controlled) too much under McCain’s team. They gave her no leash, and it will take a while for people to forget the repetitive mantras she was reduced to reciting in interviews and on the trail.
I don’t know that Romney has run his course; it’s funny that a top 3 showing in the primaries and he’s ‘over’ yet McCain ran several times, even when it was pretty obvious that he’d been ‘Washington-ized’. At least GW was a governor (as are Romney and Palin).
We need to stop this indebtedness mentality in the party. We need to present someone who is a good standard bearer for the GOP; down to earth, very little poli-speak about consensus and ‘my esteemed colleague’. McCain botched many opportunities to take it to Obama, and while that probably would not have changed the election outcome, it might have narrowed the margin. We need a clear vision for America, bam-bam, like the Contract with America was. Goals, why and how, period. Then execute.
I don’t see that right now; I see the GOP field crowded with wannabe superstars (Crist for example), who are probably blocking the way for some very good up and coming grassroots GOP candidates. We also need to stop defenestrating our own guys, like Ryan in Illinois. As some here have said, lots of people fail and make mistakes and if Barney Frank can still be in Congress after his boyfriend ran a prostitution ring out of their townhouse, we should be a little more understanding when the odd (not egregious), fall occurs.
We are so easily ‘shamed’ so easily cowed, as if one person’s failings is suddenly an indictment of the entire GOP and our ideas. Our ideas are good, they are true and they are better for America than socialism lite – we need to focus on that and not get distracted by things like this Sanford debacle, although I could spank him for doing this, because it’s like a piece of dripping meat dangling in front of the lib news hounds.

The ’08 campaign will be ancient history by the time 2012 get here. Sarah is already improving her image, it’s just beginning, but it’s happening, with a little boost from David Letterman.
I think you underestimate her potential to expose Obama’s big government schemes and rally people to her side.
The public is already souring on Obama’s policy proposals, and we haven’t even started the health care or immigration reform debates yet.
Also, the enemies overseas get a say, as they are showing now in Iran and North Korea.
I don’t see any Republican outdrawing Sarah Palin. She can get 10,000 people or more to show up anywhere, any time.
Who else can do that? When the election season heats up again, this will only increase. With the right message for the environment that will exist, she can be a force like no other.
Brian1972 on June 24, 2009 at 7:48 PM

Look its a long time politically speaking until 2012 and so much can happen between now and then that speculating about who will get the GOP nomination is really just an exercise in political day dreaming. However at the moment the three main contenders have to be Romney, Huckabee and Sarah Palin, purely because those are the only three realistic potential GOP 2012 candidates left with a big enough national profile to build any sort of real support and publicly take on Obama in the media with any sort of credibility.
Interestingly though you just have to look at the way the left continues to attack, deride, and ridicule Governor Palin to realise exactly who they fear the most when it comes to potential 2012 GOP presidential candidates.
Besides whats the bet if Palin does decide to run in 2012 and gets the GOP nomination for President, the first thing Obama will do is to dump Biden as VP and replace him with Hillary Clinton or some other high profile female democrat politician?
