John Kerry on Sanford: Too bad Palin didn’t go missing too

posted at 6:38 pm on June 24, 2009 by Allahpundit

Don’t be too hard on Waffles. His humor’s always been laced with nastiness, which is why he periodically finds himself in clusterfarks over “botched jokes.” It’s not that he hates Palin. He’s just a jerk.

The Bay State senator was telling a group of business and civic leaders in town at his invitation about the “bizarre’’ tale of how South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford had “disappeared for four days’’ and claimed to be hiking along the Appalachian Trail, but no one was really certain of his whereabouts.

“Too bad,’’ Kerry said, “if a governor had to go missing it couldn’t have been the governor of Alaska. You know, Sarah Palin.’’

The Democratic-centric crowd laughed.

He said this before Sanford’s presser so it’s not an adultery dig at her, just an “I wish you were lost and left for dead somewhere” dig. Which, believe it or not, isn’t the nastiest Palin attack circulating in the ‘sphere today.

Pew’s got a new poll out today showing Romney’s net favorable rating at +12, compared to just +1 for Sarahcuda. With Sanford and Huntsman now out of the game, Jindal almost certainly biding his time until 2016, and Palin possibly too polarizing to win against The One, we’d all better hope Mitt runs. Because if he doesn’t, an ominous scenario presents itself:

Blowback

People keep forgetting that Ogabe is onlly gonna use most of the stimulus money when he’s about to get elected. The economy will “recover” just around 2010 or 2012 depending on whether it looks like the dems are under significant threat (based on how things are going i’m going with 2012). It’ll collapse again thanks to reckless spending, but at least Obama will get his power hungry jollies off.

A lazy “hack” not the b word

Palin simply sometimes doesn’t care reviewing certain things. She thinks that better left to national advisers and she is wrong.

She is a lazy child that doesn’t want to do her homework.

Example from one of the locals.

Gregg Erickson: It is clear that she has not paid much attention to the nitty-gritty unglamorous work of government, of gaining consensus, and making difficult compromises. She seems to be of the view that politics should be all rather simple. That often appeals to the wider public, but frustrates those who see themselves as laboring in the less glamorous parts of the vineyard.

TimeTraveler on June 24, 2009 at 7:04 PM

I’m trying to figure this out. Mitt Romney didn’t win against McCain how is it that he’s going to come out on top this time round against anybody but himself? I’m not trying to be mean, but Romney’s time is up to me. There’s s big shift happening and politicians who are the party’s pets, I don’t think stand a chance.

And how is Palin a more polarizing figure vs Romey? If anything they’ll hit him with the usual narrative of rich white guy and I have a feeling he’ll collapse under that weight like McCain did. Why? Because he’s more interested in the politically correct answer. Lord knows, I don’t want to see him at any NAACP sponsored appearances. I mean this is the guy who tried to co-opt the change moniker during the primaries and ONLY AFTER it became apparent that Obama had steam.

Palin has every quality that Obama has. The only things she’s missing is a good communications team and a speech writer. If she gets that (and runs), 2012 will be the best election cycle ever. And I guarantee that she can topple him- decisively.

xax on June 24, 2009 at 7:04 PM

Kerry is so socially inept. He should have figured out a while ago that he should stop trying to tell jokes altogether.

tneloms on June 24, 2009 at 7:04 PM

If there was a poll simply asking “which possible Republican candidate for potus in 2012 do you fear the most” the result would be Sarah Palin by a landslide. The Democrat party, all Liberals, and a large chuck of the RINO wing of the GOP would all vote for her.

Very telling indeed. Every time this woman shows her face in public, the media (including one of our very own) feels it necessary to fire shots at her. If this isn’t fear driven, then what is it…

Sarah Palin fires up people like no other member of the GOP right now. People drive great distances to hear her speak. When she is on TV, the rating go through the roof. This woman is poison to the left for many reasons, none more than the fact that she generates excitement with the base, as well as with regular folks whom vote for a person rather than a party. This woman actually would go to DC and clean up that sh*t house city. Obama promised to do so, but we all knew he was just lying. Not the case with Sarah, and politicians on both sides of the isle know it, and fear it.

Can’t help but to wonder why so many pundits on the right fear her so badly…

right2bright on June 24, 2009 at 7:05 PM

Bingo. Steele must close the primaries or we’re going to have Mitt or Huck as our nominee, thus another loss in 2012.
Palin is our best shot in winning against Obama.

jencab on June 24, 2009 at 6:49 PM

I used to think closed primaries would benefit Palin, too, but seeing her numbers rise with both Indies and Dems, I want to see an open primary. I think many of them will cross over and vote for Palin; Romney and Huck – not so much.

yogi41 on June 24, 2009 at 7:05 PM

I gotta say AP, Mitt has a “Don’t Know/Can’t Rate” at 32% – doesn’t that make that +12% kind of illusory?

If he runs for President, you think the 32 is going to be split evenly?

Even amongst Republicans Mitt gets a “Don’t Know” of 24%

A Republican with as much exposure as Palin is naturally going to have a smaller spread between fav/unfav, and while +1% is low, it seems a little disingenious to maket a blanket comparison between the two.

He is a brutal, murderous dictator, leading an oppressive regime … He presents a particularly grievous threat because he is so consistently prone to miscalculation … And now he is miscalculating America’s response to his continued deceit and his consistent grasp for weapons of mass destruction … So the threat of Saddam Hussein with weapons of mass destruction is real…”
- Sen. John F. Kerry (D, MA), Jan. 23. 2003

“I will be voting to give the President of the United States the authority to use force — if necessary — to disarm Saddam Hussein because I believe that a deadly arsenal of weapons of mass destruction in his hands is a real and grave threat to our security.”
- Sen. John F. Kerry (D, MA), Oct. 9, 2002

MB4 on June 24, 2009 at 7:06 PM

I don’t get the nastiness directed at Palin really. She has never done anything to these people, except for run for office.

And considering the fact that John Edwards is supposedly in hot water for using campaign funds to pay off his lover, I really don’t think his running mate John Kerry is in any position to be so snarky.

Terrye on June 24, 2009 at 7:06 PM

Of course Sen. Loser, who served in Vietnam, by the way, wants Palin to go away–she can beat Barry.

NebCon on June 24, 2009 at 7:07 PM

John Kerry should skip the jokes and stick to boring people. Speaking of jokes, though, my favorite about John Kerry goes:

“There was an embarrassing moment at a recent Democratic fundraiser. When John Kerry was handed a $10 million dollar check, he said, ‘I do.’” -Craig Kilborn

alliebobbitt on June 24, 2009 at 7:07 PM

John Kerry not only has no business in the United States Senate, he should be in a federal prison for treason.

Most people still don’t know that John Kerry admitted to treason on April 22, 1971. Liberals love his “they cut off ears” speech to the Senate that day, but they don’t want to hear about the other things he said:

http://www.wintersoldier.com/index.php?topic=Testimony

For those too lazy to follow the link and read it, here is the part where Kerry admitted to meeting with the enemy [bold added]:

I have been to Paris. I have talked with both delegations at the peace talks, that is to say the Democratic Republic of Vietnam and the Provisional Revolutionary Government and of all eight of Madam Binh’s points it has been stated time and time again

The Democratic Republic of Vietnam was the government of North Vietnam. The Provisional Revolutionary Government was the Viet Gong.

Madam Binh was the Viet Cong spokeswoman.

Not only did John Kerry admit, in public, that he met with the enemy as a private citizen, he advocated their position upon his return. That’s treason.

Even more despicable, Kerry held a press conference later that same day with the wives of some of the POW’s, who he had just called war criminals, and again advocated Madam Binh’s agenda.

That’s why the Swift Boat Vets went after him.

Jaynie59 on June 24, 2009 at 7:07 PM

I am laughing my butt off at the “you know, Sarah Palin” part. It cracks me up that Vietnam Kerry is so lame at humor that he doesn’t think his audience would get the joke unless he explained who the governor of Alaska is.

It’s like me saying “I sure wouldn’t be asking for a ride home from the senior senator from Massachusetts… You know, Ted Kennedy……because of the whole Chappaquiddick thing…where he drove off a bridge…”. I mean, c’mon!

DarkKnight3565 on June 24, 2009 at 7:07 PM

Remember people. Obama will be running on his 4 year record as a failed President not his “Look, I’m like nothing you’ve elected before!!!” Alot of people voted for him on the HOPES that he would be different. No such luck. People won’t be fooled again.

If any troll responds about a lack of intellect separating the two, answer these two questions:

How do you “create or save” (insert number here) jobs?

How can a country be broke now, but only because we didn’t spend enough money before on health care, which is why we need to spend more money now? Despite the fact that we’re broke.

How many states are there?

This got left on the bottom of the last page…so I repost.

We all know Sarah will be able to blast through the primaries, and she still would lose in the generals. Her polling positives never went above negatives, which means it’s mathematically impossible.

Aristotle on June 24, 2009 at 6:54 PM

Nothing is impossible, polling numbers are not static, they move around all the time.

That same poll has Palin’s numbers improving now.
It’s only +1 at the moment, but it’s positive, so you are wrong.

fav unfav

Sarah Palin %45 %44
Mitt Romney %40 %28

That’s overall. She’s got higher unfav’s than Mitt, but higher fav’s too.

That’s just for June 2009. They will move some more, I predict in her favor. Another poll shows her independent fav’s have gone up 8 or 9 points in the last couple of months.

Never say never in politics.

Which means that if Obama is seen to have screwed the pooch by 2012, the Republican party will be ascendancy and it’s #1 draw will be the one most likely to run against Bambi.

right2bright on June 24, 2009 at 7:18 PM

Here’s a really crazy idea: this time; let’s pick our own nominee, not the one the MSM and Dems want us to have.

Hey Everyone,

Too bad so many guys died in Vietnam instead of John Kerry
HAHAHAHAHAHA Is that funny???

Too bad John Kerry didn’t go missing when he went to Vietnam for a few months to get some Purple Hearts.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAH That one is a riot!!!

If one of the senators from Massachussets had to get a horrible, terminal disease, its too bad it wasn’t John Kerry
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA That one really gets me!!

What do you think of these John? Maybe you could use them at your next Washed Up Democrats Club Meeting.

Dan Pet on June 24, 2009 at 7:20 PM

As Taranto of the WSJ says, “that haughty, European looking junior Senator from Massachusetts”.

d1carter on June 24, 2009 at 7:20 PM

Oh, BTW, the NoKo’s are threatening to wipe us off the map. In other news, the obama administration is hiding under their desks.

HornetSting on June 24, 2009 at 7:21 PM

Yo, Gold digger Kerry! Why don’t you hush up, go back to the lab, and work on your cereal, “FrankenKerry”. Make it work dude. You know…a decent cereal, that doesn’t scare kids, AND adults!

What a tool this guy is.

TimeTraveler on June 24, 2009 at 7:16 PM

Hmmm. Who is Gregg Erickson you use to define as one of the “locals”?

Gregg Erickson: In a Washington Post chat session on August 29, right after Palin was named to the GOP ticket, Erickson was described as “Columnist and Reporter, Anchorage Daily News and Editor at Large, Alaska Budget Report.”

Using partisan reporters as proof of “one of the locals” = FAIL.

NEXT.

portlandon on June 24, 2009 at 7:23 PM

She’s smart but lazy.

TimeTraveler on June 24, 2009 at 7:16 PM

Look, that is just stupid to keep saying that.
Sarah Palin is far from lazy. Just follow her twitter account for a few days. She is all over the place all the time, meetings, signings, aircraft carriers, all over the state.

She is very active in all things related to the office she holds. That’s what is available in public, you don’t know what else she is doing behind the scenes, so stop believing admitted “rumors”, and go by what is verifiable.

Brian1972 on June 24, 2009 at 7:23 PM

I refuse to think about 2012. I’m just praying someone emerges as a true leader before the nitty-gritty starts.

DaveS on June 24, 2009 at 7:13 PM

They’ve photoshopped Trig’s face. It’s grotesque.

John Kerry is despicable. He’s a disgrace to our country and to his party.

Romney has almost no charisma, which is remarkable considering his good looks and deep voice. He simply cannot connect with people. He spent all that money in the primaries last time and couldn’t beat a geriatric whose main claim to fame as a Republican was how well he worked with Russ Feingold and Teddy Kennedy. There will be plenty of phony conservatives like Time Traveler who are really trolls trying to sow doubts about Sarah. All she has to do is step on that stage. Her light will shine. The rest of the candidates will know they have no chance.

Then the general election will be a referendum on Obama. If people want to give him a second term, any Republican will lose. If people want to get rid of him, any Republican will win. A lot can happen in 3 years.

Ted Torgerson on June 24, 2009 at 7:24 PM

let us see your purple heart scars since we can’t see the records

rjoco1 on June 24, 2009 at 7:24 PM

As Palin recently secured a new natural gas pipeline to the lower 48, I’m sure now is the time when we can ill afford to lose the elected leader of the state that is responsible for bringing us our expanded supply of natural gas as well as managing the early warning radar for incoming missiles from rogue regimes.

You want comedy? Obama is against both of these badly needed items as well as this jerk John Careless.

WHO VOTES FOR THESE BUFFOONS?

I have a joke: John Careless buying a hunting rifle, you know, because he’s a regular Joe. John Careless throws his three “purple hearts” over the wall at the White House and denies it. John Kerry says I was for it before I was against it.

The best one: “I’m John Careless and I’m reporting for dog duty”.
