John Kerry on Sanford: Too bad Palin didn’t go missing too

posted at 6:38 pm on June 24, 2009 by Allahpundit
Share on Facebook | printer-friendly

Don’t be too hard on Waffles. His humor’s always been laced with nastiness, which is why he periodically finds himself in clusterfarks over “botched jokes.” It’s not that he hates Palin. He’s just a jerk.

The Bay State senator was telling a group of business and civic leaders in town at his invitation about the “bizarre’’ tale of how South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford had “disappeared for four days’’ and claimed to be hiking along the Appalachian Trail, but no one was really certain of his whereabouts.

“Too bad,’’ Kerry said, “if a governor had to go missing it couldn’t have been the governor of Alaska. You know, Sarah Palin.’’

The Democratic-centric crowd laughed.

He said this before Sanford’s presser so it’s not an adultery dig at her, just an “I wish you were lost and left for dead somewhere” dig. Which, believe it or not, isn’t the nastiest Palin attack circulating in the ’sphere today.

Pew’s got a new poll out today showing Romney’s net favorable rating at +12, compared to just +1 for Sarahcuda. With Sanford and Huntsman now out of the game, Jindal almost certainly biding his time until 2016, and Palin possibly too polarizing to win against The One, we’d all better hope Mitt runs. Because if he doesn’t, an ominous scenario presents itself:

What is so polarizing about her, Allah?

She is making gains with independent voters. If that trend continues, with the massive base support she already has, you can kiss The One goodbye in 2012.

doug1981 on June 24, 2009 at 6:43 PM

Ugh..not the Huckster.

I think that any true contenders aren’t going to be obvious until after the 2010 elections. Could be Romney or Palin or someone not on the radar. If Obama goes headfirst into a meltdown or the economy crashes completely I think you will see some newer faces emerge pretty quickly.

You know. Back in the 1972 a plane carrying the House Majority Leader Hale Boggs, and current Sen. Mark Begich’s father Rep. Nick Begich along with Begich’s aide Russell Brown & Pilot Don Jonz disappeared in a flight between Anchorage to Juneau never to be seen again. They never even found wreckage.

I don’t think jokes about Alaskan Politicians disappearing get alot of laughs in Alaska. Or anywhere else. Sen. Kerry, you sir are a fool of unmeasurable proportions.

Try again John F. Kerry. You have FAILED again.

haha. that’s what i figured.

don’t get me wrong; i am a palin fan. i just wonder if she can overcome all the mud that has been slung at her, especially after seeing that pew poll.

if she were to run for VP with a winning top of the ticket, we could be set for 16 years. 8 years serving competently as VP (as we know she would) would silence a lot of the doubts that people have about her and make her a great pres. candidate in ‘20, not to mention driving the left completely off the reservation!

just a thought…

Palin probably needs to do some homework before she poses a threat to Obama.

All she needs to do is to brush up on national issues and her polarizing numbers will decrease. Giving good interviews in the future will help her out… I don’t know if it will be enough to beat the great one.

She can’t do anything about some females that don’t like the fact that she betrayed her kind by being pro life.

John Kerry’s not so secret any longer MySpace entry:

Hi there fellow bloggers. My name is United States Senator John Forbes Kerry from the great state of Massachusetts. You can call me JFK if you want. I was born on December 11, 1943, although people tell me that I look at least 20 years younger. It’s probably my great hair and rugged good looks.

I graduated from Yale in June 1966 in the top 1% of my class. To earn extra money during the summers, I loaded trucks in a grocery warehouse and sold encyclopedias door to door. That is probably one of the reasons that I am so humble. Over my four years at Yale, I maintained a 96 grade average and received a 101 average in my senior year.

I am one of the most senior members of that grand and much loved and respected institution known as the U.S. Senate. Probably the only living Senator even a little bit greater than me is my dear friend Ted Moore Kennedy. I also have a very high IQ. Very high. At least 250 on a bad day. Much higher than that creep who stole the election from me. I know that he stole it because exit polls are never ever wrong.

I am also a great war hero. I set all kinds of records for heroism when I was in Vietnam. I was grievously wounded at least three times yet continued to insist on staying in the fight when lesser men would have given up. I won the bronze star with extra V’s for extra valor and the Silver Star for defeating a whole battalion of NVA with my bare hands.
Sometimes I feel like a had to carry all the water for those other ungrateful swiftboaters.

I sometimes like to chill out after a long day of serving the American people by having a double martini with my good friend Ted. We usually have a servant bring 21 double martinis. I get one and Ted gets one for each of his fingers and each of his toes. Contrary to what some of my very few enemies say I never marry women for just their money. They must also have a pulse. BTW, did I mention that I was in Vietnam? I was also in Cambodia, so don’t forget that!

I would like to think that I am open minded, honest, polite, heroic and trustworthy. And I appreciate the same qualities in others although I am realistic enough to know that no one else could come close to me.

Turn offs: other politicians who spend more on haircuts than I do. That is just not right.

Who I’d like to meet:
…other progressive bloggers. Other great war heroes who hate that damn S-T-U-P-I-D Texan in the White House and those lying sons of #itcher swiftboat #astardos whose pants are on fire! Cool people who live close to Washington D.C. so that we can get together, talk about you for about 30 seconds and then spend about 9 hours talking about me. BTW, did I mention that I was in Vietnam and Cambodia? Just one more BTW, if anyone has found my magic hat please return to me.

All things considered, I guess it could have been worse.

He could have wished for Palin to be stuck in Iraq.

We all know Sarah will be able to blast through the primaries, and she still would lose in the generals. Her polling positives never went above negatives, which means it’s mathematically impossible.

Nothing is impossible, polling numbers are not static, they move around all the time.

That same poll has Palin’s numbers improving now.
It’s only +1 at the moment, but it’s positive, so you are wrong.

fav unfav

Sarah Palin %45 %44
Mitt Romney %40 %28

That’s overall. She’s got higher unfav’s than Mitt, but higher fav’s too.

That’s just for June 2009. They will move some more, I predict in her favor. Another poll shows her independent fav’s have gone up 8 or 9 points in the last couple of months.

Never say never in politics.
