Confirmed: Iran no longer invited to Obama’s July 4th cookout

I wonder what changed his mind. Was it the mass head-cracking today in Baharestan Square? Or, like me, did he read the story about regime filthbags evicting Neda’s grieving family from their home and find himself consumed with righteous rage? Probably not the latter. President Spock doesn’t do rage.
No matter. Yesterday’s left-wing conventional wisdom: We can’t jeopardize diplomacy by taking a meaningless moral stand! Today’s left-wing conventional wisdom: Obama has taken a bold moral stand against regime abuses!
“As you all know many weeks ago the administration extended an invitation to celebrate the freedom that this country enjoys. not surprisingly based on what we see in Tehran, no one has RSVP’d,” said White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs.
“Understand that July 4th allows us to celebrate the freedom and liberty that we enjoy. I don’t think it’s surprising that no one has signed up to come given the events of the last few days. Those invitations will be no longer extended.
Two clips for you. The first purports to be from today’s Baharestan Square crackdown. Turn down the sound before you watch and kindly observe your strong content warning, as it’s gruesome. Below that you’ll find a stirring vid shot by a brave Iranian woman, time and place unknown. Translation:
Hit me. Not hitting me now that Im filming?
Come on hit me. Hit me once. Werent you just hitting me before?
How many people have you hit?
Hit. Hit him.
Yes yes you must hit them.

Why does everyone keep forgetting this.
To show just how pathetically retarded obama’s unvitation is.
lorien1973 on June 24, 2009 at 5:20 PM
1> Obama didn’t say it himself. He had Gibbs pass the message along.
2> Because they only cancelled the BBQ because nobody came, now would be the perfect time for Ahmadinejad to RSVP. Obama would then have to either deny him outright because of his actions or accept him with open palms…
Skywise on June 24, 2009 at 5:21 PM
I still can’t believe they buried her body without her family.
That family is screwed in Iran. The only way that they will survive is to get out. Maybe they can come to the United States.

Excuse me….I have it on good authority that Obama has been entirely consistent. Before, he said that it would be up to the Iranians whether or not they were going to come to the BBQ….now, he says that because of Iranian actions, they are no longer welcome at the BBQ. Iran chose, by it’s actions, to be disinvited.
Do not question the one. He is consistent in all things.

Knowing obama, he will meet with A-Jad himself at the WH on July 4th to discuss his strategy on clubbing infidels.

Just like with Clintoon this administrations approach to any type of policy is driven by the polls and which way the political winds are blowing, never mind common sense or making tough decisions as is the mark of a true leader, this administration(like Clintoons just wets its finger and puts t in the air, then makes a decision!
At least Bush had the confidence and true leadership abilities to make a decision based on what he thought was the best for this nation and it’s people and stick with it regardless if it was or wasn’t popular!
Smart power my azz…just proves the adults left DC in January!

I’m offended that The Precedent is going to be attending an Independence Day event, given how much he despises our country.
The Precedent ought to be shipped to Iran for the 4th. Since M Hussein wasn’t good enough for the mullahs, maybe B Hussein will be more to their liking. Hopefully, they’ll keep him.

Personally I think Obambi changed his mind because he wanted pork ribs put back on the menu instead of making this decision for all the right and obvious reasons; those reasons being how making such an ignorant decision in the first place proves he lacks both moral and leadership judgement by inviting the Iranians to a July 4th celebrtion/BBQ in the first place!

Because they’ve seen the great damage he’s done to America. B Hussein is most certainly the mullahs’ kind of guy … I’m just hoping that they would bond over swapping tales of fabricated American wrongdoing and the mullahs will just not be able to let such a nice guy out of their grasp. It’s a hope.

Remind me once again how permanent and disfiguring our waterboarding is?
How can any individual, much less an entire administration, watch something like this and remain as passive as Obama and crew have.
Obama == the Monday morning after arm-chair quarterback. Too aloof to be engaged in the moment, too shallow and elitist to want to get involved, and too weak of moral character to take a stand for what’s right.
Hope -n- Change…
I see lots of change a happening, and a lot of hope in the hearts.

Those brave Iranians protest knowing what is going to happen. They carry signs in English begging for help. Our President disinvites them to a party none of them were coming to. I am saddened and ashamed.
Les in NC on June 24, 2009 at 6:02 PM
As I understand Obama’s foreign policy, it is his belief Iran acts the way it does because the US (and other countries making up “the world”) treat it disrespectfully. Therefore, things like the hotdog invitations and letters to the mullahs will let Iran know that we really like them and..ta da! they will change their ways.
If we don’t criticize them, they will want to stop being autocratic nuke-builders.
That’s why saying they didn’t accept the Independence Day invitations is important. It wasn’t that we turned our back on them, they just aren’t ready to accept our unclenched fist yet. I think Obama will keep reaching out to them, no matter what.
