Video: Obama’s testy press conference
posted at 9:17 pm on June 23, 2009 by Allahpundit
A nifty compilation from TPM, although the only moment that rises to true snottiness, I think, is his high-handed reminder that he’s the president in response to the question about McCain. Don’t get mad just because you had to be dragged kicking and screaming to the podium to denounce shooting unarmed women in the heart, champ.
In his defense, he has a right to be testy: His agenda’s collapsing. Exit question via Jim Treacher: How is it that Obama was a genius yesterday for not condemning Iranian brutality and tomorrow he’ll be heralded as a genius for condemning it today? I guess he’s just super-keen on timing, huh?

Blowback

his agenda hasn’t collapsed yet, its just crippled but do not underestimate how much power the Democrats still have in Congress. I do wonder, did Obama waste his capital with the absurd stimulus package?

I believe the press will turn on him, at a time of their choosing. Slowly, at first, (prodded by someone trying to “make their bones” as a reporter,) then more ferociously.

I fear it will be worse than just a temper tantrum. He is a malignant narcissist. When his veneer is stripped away, he will begin by blaming anyone and anything in sight. We see some of this already in all his “inherited” crises and his snarky retorts. He is psychologically incapable of facing or owning up to his own flaws and inadequacies. When his cover is finally blown and the media and public increase the criticism he will lash out. Not publicly, of course, but there will be hell to pay. He will not go quietly.

fourdeucer on June 23, 2009 at 9:47 PM
Oh, it’s QUITE logical why the public health service would drive out the private insurers, contrary to what Obama insists. Because he leaves out the little fact that they can use our tax dollars to deliberately and continually undercut the private insurers, regardless of how much (or our) money they are losing.
What defies logic is that Obama could actually think we aren’t aware of that rather important factor.
And I notice he left the stage before (who was it, Major Garrett?) could point that out.
Secondly, he can stand there and say that he is saying nothing different now about Iran than he did before, but I seriously doubt if a single one of those reporters in the audience actually managed to believe him, instead of their own lying ears. Besides Helen Thomas, that is.
Alana on June 23, 2009 at 9:47 PM

On the one hand, I think people should be respectful of the office of the President and the person that holds it.
On the other hand, I wish people would call him on his crap when he says things like, “Then that’s your question. You’re not the Ombudsman for the White House press corp.” when Tapper pointed out he didn’t answer someone’s question and asked him to respond.
It wouldn’t have to be anything major…perhaps a simple, “When it’s necessary, Sir, I am. Now, back to the question. Is a public option non-negotiable at this point?”
