Uh, not really. See, Perez, there’s this thing called “Fighting Words”. Laws about them exist in the US as well as Canada. Since the incident took place in Canada, I’ll cite the Canadian law:

“Every one who, by communicating statements in a public place, incites hatred against any identifiable group where such incitement is likely to lead to a breach of the peace is guilty of [a crime].”

s. 319[1], Criminal Code of Canada

So, legally, no you could not have said whatever you wanted. And I’m pretty sure that what you did say constituted a crime.

Two more observations:

1) On the TMZ page Hilton claims Will went after him like a “heat-seeking missile”.

Probably not the first time that phrase and Hilton’s name have been used in the same sentence.

Jesse Jackson calls Jewish people “hymies.” Al Sharpton goes on acerbic anti-Semitic rants, but both get all the air time they want and are still hard at work extorting companies in the name of “racial justice.” Obama attends a racist church for 20 years, derisively calls his grandmother “a typical white person” but gets the White House and demigod status from the press.

Michael Richards, an ex-sitcom actor with no politics or influence on public policy, tells off a couple of hecklers in a comedy club but he’s ostracized from society for life.

Future historians will look back at the American people of this era and declare that we were insane. And they will be correct.
