It’s come to this: Media scolded for absurd Bush-bashing by … Obama

Yeah. The guy who got elected as the anti-Bush before adopting much — but not all — of Dubya’s foreign policy has to rein in Harry Smith for claiming that Bush described The One as “treacherous.” Which part of Bush’s criticism did you mean, Harry? The bit where he said he believes in the free market? Or the part where he said he opposes socialized medicine? I suppose any criticism of statism nowadays counts as an accusation of high treason against the left.
So ludicrous is this that Obama can’t keep a straight face in correcting him. Good work, CBS.

Harry Smith – blushing schoolgirl. “did I go too far, you great big gorgeous hunk you, cause if I did, i’ll do anything to make it up to you….if you’ll just touch me”
notagool on June 22, 2009 at 10:22 PM
You’re kidding, I hope, because this is pure nuts. There is not a good, nor a sincere bone, in his body. He is out for revenge and cares about nothing other than making those he blames for shaming “his people”, by their advancements and achievements, pay dearly and suffer greatly. He wants nothing but to inflict pain and destroy the US. You can look at any of his policies and see this motivation in the background. He is evil and insincere and really, really stupid.

It’s certainly not black Americans he’s peeved over – it’s the Muslim world he keeps courting. He has absolutely no cultural ties to this end of the hemisphere. It’s tragic they felt kinship with him and did their best to see him elected. MLK is roiling in his grave.
24K lady on June 22, 2009 at 10:34 PM
Does that analysis come from his vast array of criminal and deviant friends and associates or from his own fraudulent activity?
Bill Ayers, Tony Rezko, Rashid Khalidi, Frank Davis Marshall, Rev J. Wright to name a few-
His ACORN org. fraud cases, hundreds of thousands of dollars in fruadulent campaign contributions, Tony Rezko’s ill gotten cash to fraudulently pay for Obama’s Chicago next door property, not to mention his many violations of the US constitution since Jan 20th.
I’m curious how you come to such a conclusion.

President Skateboard would not know how to be classy if Classy jumped up, and slapped him back to Kenya! Classy would have been to really call Harry out for that outrageous comment about Bush, and to have not even mentioned Darth Vader’s name! He could not even say he believes Cheney loves this nation and has a good record in protecting the nation!

Take it away, Scooby Doo.
“OH REEEEEARRYYYY????!!!!!”
…..Hey, kudos for Obama for not buying into the question as asked. Good for him.

proudteadrinker on June 22, 2009 at 10:56 PM
You are correct about his lack of ties to America and American blacks. But, even with muslims, B Hussein is not looking to court anyone. He ust loves pandering to the muslim world because it is a slap at the US. This is the point. He doesn’t care about American blacks or muslims or anyone, really. But he is a product of the third world and looks at everything with a third world point of view. That is why he hates the whole West, and not just the US. It’s also why he tried to apologize for European colonialism during the Cairo leg of his Traitor Tour. LOL.
What he really wants to do is hurt the people he considers to be successful and powerful – the Westerners. He doesn’t care if that helps anyone. That’s why he said, during the campaign, that he would still raise capital gains taxes even if he knew that it would end up reducing government receipts. He said that it was the “fairness” that he was most interested in, not the money flowing to the government for more programs. The fact that he would not lower capital gains taxes, even if that would give him more money to waste on the leeches of society shows that his concern is only with dispensing pain to the successful.
The Precedent is concerned with taking down the powerful and successful and bringing pain and chaos to their lives. He’s not really concerned with helping anyone, though he likes to use that as his argument – and they are all stupid enough to believe him. But the capital gains tax situation made his real motivations all too clear.
Once people accept that this is what he is really after – just hurting the successful and beating them to a pulp – then all of his policies make sense and fit very nicely together. Anything to hurt the US and the West; all else is secondary, at best.

Harry Smith has yet to learn the difference between the right amount and too much friction?
I guess one of his kneepads slipped.

Ya think? From the looks of it, he was already wasted long before that gem of absurdity expelled itself from his lower regions.
Ryan Gandy on June 23, 2009 at 12:28 AM
I’ll give the President fair credit. He corrected Harry when he certainly needed correcting. And he was somewhat gracious towards BOTH of his predecessors in the Bush administration. He may not have been generous, but he was not going to buy into the only treachery in that interview….. the treachery of Harry Smith lying about what either Man has said on the subject of foreign policy.
I’ll give him credit. He may disagree with the policies all he wants…… as long as he keeps them and keeps on enforcing them, he’ll have earned some respect from me.
So good on the President.
And f*ck off, Harry, you lying treacherous, evil POS.

Perhaps I’m getting overly cynical, but it seems to me that the Mainstream Media, and Harry Smith’s faux pas is indicative of this, is almost attempting to incite the same type of protests here in America that are going on in Iran right now.
If they can gin up the outrage and similar “derangement syndrome” as they themselves exhibited all during GW Bush’s eight years, then they will find justification for their deplorable behavior during that period of time. As well as for their behavior since Obama became President, which has been an embarrassment of adulation such as I’ve never seen in nearly sixty years as an American, and that includes the Reagan years.
The MSM is out of control, and deliberately so it would seem. To selectively report only news which supports their political and philosophical agenda, essentially telling the American people how they should interpret what news they do report while ignoring news that they want the general public to ignore…… say goodbye to the “public watchdog” that used to tell us the news and let us make up our own minds, if it ever even existed before the advent of Fox News, Talk Radio, and the Blogosphere!
KendraWilder on June 23, 2009 at 1:45 AM
Are you really this daft? Obama didnt defend Bush, Obama was defending HIMSELF from a harsh criticism by insisting that Bush never claimed any such thing.
American Elephant on June 23, 2009 at 2:59 AM
bush and cheny had nearly 8 years of keeping us safe. jimmy obama has had 6 months of keeping us safe..I’ll hold my judgment for now. IMHO obama has a long way to go to live up to that claim.

That was my take also. And the deflection by being a smooth soother (a very basic part of his MO to the top no doubt)… worked for him. The Bush help was ancillary and I give zero, as in no credit for that.

Muir’s prescience predicted on June 18, 2009 that even The One would at some point feel embarrassed by receiving a wet kiss from the media in public.
Jim Wrenn on June 23, 2009 at 4:24 AM
eh. The real funny part is when he says that Bush/Cheney policies would, somehow, make us less safe…um…cause all of that counter-terrorism stuff was happening BEFORE 911 (and all previous attacks). Whatever.
Mommypundit on June 23, 2009 at 5:57 AM
The look on Smith’s face and his body language said so much:
“Oh dear Lord, I thought it would be pleasing to him if I trashed Bush. I’m so confused now.”
Oyster on June 23, 2009 at 7:00 AM
So rather than ask anything worthy of discussion, like say the whole firing and smearing of an inspector general sniffing a little too close to Obambi’s cronyism, Harry would rather discuss the hard hitting topic of bashing Bush…yet again.

Is Harry Smith a natural born citizen?
EMR on June 23, 2009 at 7:34 AM
Mr “sort of god” standing above mere mortals, correcting them when it suits him. Harry Smith is a little POS sucking up to a bigger POS. There is no graciousness or honor in Ogabe, only cold calculation and treachery.
SKYFOX on June 23, 2009 at 7:36 AM
I like Obama’s reaction. It’s like, “WTF, Harry? What an idiotic thing to say.”
And then what does Harry do? “But … but … but Cheney thinks that!”
Rod on June 23, 2009 at 7:38 AM
Harry Smith is an idiot.
woodswalking1 on June 23, 2009 at 7:55 AM
Is Harry Smith for real!? Where exactly in that speech did President Bush not only say, or even intimate that Obama was “treacherous?” That part of the speech must have been
reacted. On a separate note Obama’s response to mr. “biography” was quite possibly the first, and maybe the only, utterance from our President that I could fully stand behind. I think for the first time I’m actually proud of him; laughter is, after all the best medicine. That is, of course, when answering questions from a politically, historically, and apparently illiterate, (did he not read the transcript,?) moron such as this. I mean seriously, let’s just go ahead and make up rhetoric for people to say and pretend they actually said them. That makes things so much easier for the terminally uninformed, cough, Olberman, cough, to spew out as fact. Why stick to the truth when you can just make it up as you go along?
Please for the love of “God,” (had to put that word in quotes lest I get lumped in with the rest of the DHS confirmed right-wing extremists,) can we, the American public, have an actual unbiased, non-politically motivated, media in this country!! Ya’ know, for that “small” percentage of us that want to hear the Truth, the facts, and maybe make up our own minds about how we think.
libertarianator on June 23, 2009 at 8:06 AM

Most of us here (trolls excepted) have engaged the bullsh*t filters in our brains and we can see through the crap being dished out daily in the state-run media. Still, it would be refreshing to hear the truth from the so-called guardians of truth. Not Obama bashing, just truth. The good, the bad and the ugly. Then the unengaged masses can have a shot at knowing more than the company line. But it’s not going to happen, so we have to support the few small islands of reason that do exist. At least until the fairness doctrine is reinstated and those islands sink beneath the waves.

easyone on June 23, 2009 at 8:23 AM
I would argue that Harry Smith is one of the worst offenders in this ongoing charade. One of the least objective “journalists” working today, only somewhat “undercover” because he’s on CBS…and if you watch the “Early Show” it’s probably to ogle Julie Chen and/or Maggie Rodriguez.

A liitle girl walked through a woods to go visit Grandma. The woods was known to be full of rattlesnakes and everyone had warned the little girl not to got this way. One day she spotted a rattlesnake coiled up and she froze in her tracks. She slowly backed away and the snake said “why are you backing away from me”. The little girl said “because you will bite me and kill me”. “Thats nonsense” said the snake. “I am coiled because I am cold, Please pick me up and warm me”. “I promise I will not harm you said the snake”. He did seem nice and friendly thought the little girl. She slowing bend over and picked him up and held him close to her when he bite her. A burning sensation shot up her arm and she dropped the snake to the ground. She weakened and fell to the ground while the snake looked at her. “You promised you would not bite me or harm me” said the little girl. The snake looked at her and said “You knew what I was before you picked me up” and he slithered off.
Doesn’t this remind you of the MSM and the boy king? Be cautious. You knew what are!

Keeping us safe is the most important duty of any president. But it is not the ONLY duty. I would hope you are also judging presidents on how well they protect your liberty, not just your life. And on that score, Obama is one of the worst in history — actively destroying liberty outright.
