Good idea. We’re talking about Obama now.

Jim Treacher on June 20, 2009 at 11:36 PM

Yeah, Obama is the only president in US history to (do something personal) while many issues were at hand.

CWforFreedom on June 20, 2009 at 11:27 PM

You misinterpreted my post. Canadians as a people are great. The nation, however, ignores some realities. They don’t spend much on national defense because they have the US military to their south. They get to pick and choose their wars and what they will contribute. They enjoy a quasi-socialist existence while also benefiting from their capitalist trade with the USA.

All of that is great until their politicians decide to lecture the US on all the stuff we are doing wrong.

It’s not fake outrage at all… I was told that he was the One, the Messiah, “kinda like a god“. Now, I find that he is worthless and weak, a no show, but at least he’s a fine father. What a ripoff.

Did you or did you not post on Left leaning blogs, chastising them when they derided Pres. Bush for the same such things? Your example of him reading the book to the children is perfect. It would have suited your sense of urgency for the President to have left immediately because you think those seven extra minutes of reading imperiled the nation. When it may have given his people more time to ascertain the facts involving the situation. We know that Mr. Obama is being brief constantly, we don’t have any confidence in what he will do with the information based on what he has done so far.

1 We rank 16th in military spending.

2 Pick and choose? You clearly know nothing about Canada’s military history. But that’s hardly surprising.

3 I heard there was this thing called NATO that we joined.

Dave Rywall on June 20, 2009 at 11:45 PM

Am I as rotten? I had some Jamba Juice earlier…is that bad? I don’t quite see the anger here (besides Obamas weak response and position on Iran…now that is utter ridiculous).

Are you the recognized leader of the Free World? Did your swear an oath to protect the United States of America? If not, then no you are not as rotten.

Sorry, but perception comes with the territory. When the a part of the world is going to hell in a hand basket, it’s really not a brilliant idea for the leader of the Free World to act like he hasn’t a care in the world.

I don’t recall Kennedy going out of ice cream during the Cuban Missle Crisis. I don’t recall Johnson having a Texas Bar-b-que during the Gulf of Tonkin incident. I don’t recall Nixon going out for burgers during the bombings of Cambodia. I don’t recall Carter eating peanuts during his botched attempt to resuce the hostages. I don’t recall Reagan doing anything like this during the Beruit bombing. I don’t recall Bush going out for ice cream during Desert Storm. I don’t recall Clinton getting blow….wait…nevermind.

Great comment on Ace by ParanoidGirlInSeattle:

You know what’s just the cherry on top of the sundae (pun intended here). Obama has been in the White House for, what is it, 20 weeks now, and he’s taken more breaks and had more free time than even what they said about Bush. He’s taken his wife to a Broadway show, he’s taken her back to Chicago for Valentine’s Day. He’s gone out for burgers multiple times. On their overseas trips he’s gone out for dinners with her. He’s played golf over and over and over again, he’s hosted countless parties in the White House, he’s flown all over the country to sign bills and give “town halls.”

Look, quite frankly I am sick and tired of hearing that Obama gets to have a normal life. #$%@ THAT he’s the #$%@ING PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES, and I’d appreciate it if he’d starting acting like a President instead of a major movie star.

And it isn’t Father’s Day today, it’s Father’s Day tomorrow, so if he needed to take his girls out for ice cream, it would have made more sense to do it tomorrow.

Oh yeah, and #$%@ you Palin Steele Drywall I’m so tired of your #$%@ing posts. Nothing you say is of value here. Absolutely nothing. You are an idiot and I can only hope that you grow up someday and realize what a #$%@ing idiot you were when you were young and do something good with your life to make up for it.

It’s sickening to see the Lib pundits spin this inaction as some kind of master plan where Chairman Obamao doesn’t want to offend the Iranians by merely putting offering a few words of encouragement and support on behalf of the protesters.

I have little doubt that most of those same protesters will be out there in a few months burning the U.S. flag even if they do win, but that’s beside the point. At any rate, there may be fewer of them doing so if this “administration” had supported the Iranian people who have been taken for a ride by their government. Of course, we here completely understand what that’s like.

Sorta God didn’t have to support their political candidate by doing so.

Now, if this Mousavi was a Kenyan candidate, we probably would have seen strong words of support swiftly and forcefully emulating from the White House.

Thinking of that young woman dying in that video itself has made me nauseous and anxious for the Iranian youth, so proud of this moment, yet ashamed of my country.

I am probably one of the most conservative guys here who does not like BO at all but I also don’t like people who disparage Canada. I often don’t agree with David here but most of the time Yanks do know little of Canadian affairs. Comparing deaths and money spent for the military is not fair because as David just stated the population are not the same. Take a look at Canadian history and you will see they they have done alot more then you think. I do agree that BO should be a little more forceful on the Iranian issue.

Hey, I grew up in Michigan and I still remember how Canada’s embassy in Tehran hid a whole bunch of Americans there for a year during the hostage crisis. I adore Canada and am VERY GRATEFUL, they are our neighbors. They have done fierce fighting in Afghanistan and Iraq in support of our efforts there. Thank you Canada.

Whenever I go over to Ontario, they are always so pleasant and accommodating, gracious even. I post on a social site that has a lot of Canadian participants. We enjoy making fun of all television shows together. I consider Canada to be our closest ally, in spirit, as well as geography. Let’s not slam the country because of one contrary poster here.

Crux Australis on June 21, 2009 at 1:55 AM

Canada and Oz (and New Z. for that matter) made heroic contributions in WWI. But if we seem more simpatico with Oz than Canada, it might be because we have more in common with a nation of people descended from convicts than a nation of people descended from people we kicked out b/c they loved King George III more than Liberty.

Lou Budvis on June 21, 2009 at 1:56 AM

Look, I’m no fan of President Obama — he’s demolishing the republic I love — and I feel deeply for the protesters in Iran, but…

This is like the complaints about Condi Rice shopping for clothes while New Orleans was trying to recover from Hurricane Katrina, and also like the “My Pet Goat” nonsense about President Bush on 9/11. The comparison is symbolic only; in truth, there’s no good reason why the President (or any other public official) ought not go on with their ordinary lives, especially when the situation does not require their immediate attention.

To complain about it sincerely is to justify the left’s nonsense on those two occasions; to complain insincerely is to deliberately poison the political discourse. Neither is acceptable.

There are so many legitimate complaints against this vicious neo-Marxist, who seems deliberately to be demolishing the nation’s economy, and who certainly is removing the nation’s liberty, and who is doing it all with complete disdain for law or decency or fairness or the good of the nation… what need is there for complaining about trifles like continuing to build a good relationship with his daughters while a revolution progresses slowly halfway around the world.

Altogether 26,791 Canadians served in the Korean war and another 7,000 served in the theatre between the cease-fire and the end of 1955. United Nations forces (including South Korean) fatal and non-fatal battle casualties numbered about 490,000. Of these 1,558 were Canadian. The names of 516 Canadian war dead are inscribed in the Korea Book of Remembrance

I am glad to live in Australia now. As an dual nationality American/New Zealander, I feel like Australia supports the US far more than any other country on the planet, with Poland and the Czech Republic tied for close seconds (both being countries that Reagan stood up for during the Cold War, who know deeply the price of freedom). By comparison, many in New Zealand now are so far left of center politically that they have no idea how fortunate they are to shelter in the combined shadow of the US and Australian navies.

Your “good father” will have the blood of millions of freedom-seeking Iranians on his hands for being such a milquetoast President who angrily denounces a friend of the US (Israel) while supporting the “Supreme Leader” of a government that hates the US and its only true ally in the region (Israel).

I’m no fan of CNN’s, but during this Iranian crisis, I’ve gone to their TV channel at least as much as I have to FOX’s. Time and again, CNN was covering that story while FOX was reporting on things such as a prom dress made of duct tape.

I usually turn on the TV at 7 a.m. to get my morning news, and FOX typically starts with wacky “gee whiz” headlines; so I look at CNN or even MSNBC for about the first couple of minutes to see serious stuff, then head for FOX after Steve D. and co. have gotten fluff out of their systems. I wish FOX would drop the tabloid-style coverage, which often actually has a “wait ’til you see this” lead-in.

So I do give CNN some credit for covering the Iran situation more thoroughly than FOX has, even though I’ve learned not to trust CNN’s angle on just about any story.

ErinF on June 21, 2009 at 8:52 AM

So let’s see… Obama ran saying repeatedly (in many convoluted ways) that Iran was not the big problem that everyone (especially GWB) said it was. And then, when right after his great speech in Cairo… Iran bursts into flames, Odumbsh*t has nothing to say (multiple times). And when he finally does say something it’s “I have 2 scoops”.

OBAMA SNACKED, IRANIANS GOT WHACKED

Yup. That about sums it up.

Seriously.

What The F***?

Chaz706 on June 21, 2009 at 9:05 AM

Now it is Father´s Day.
Be nice to Obama ´cause remember both his father´s dumped him. (Did any psychologists ever analyze the fact that Obama´s real father AND step-father abandoned Obama as a child?)

albill on June 21, 2009 at 9:15 AM

If that’s an actual Ben and Jerry’s flavor they just lost a customer.

Chaz706 on June 21, 2009 at 9:23 AM

I wish Obozo would go out for ice cream every day and stop attacking businesses and gutting the economy. Barry has already decided to chat with his pal Ackmadinnerjacket so the people dying in the streets are a distraction.

You mean to tell me electing an unqualified marxist muslim moron was a bad idea?

Look – a puppy!!!

DeweyWins on June 21, 2009 at 9:23 AM

News Flash (unless someone else already posted this)
Obama at -2 in new Rasmussen poll.
32% like him
34% don’t = -2!

Overall, 53% of voters say they at least somewhat approve of the President’s performance so far. Forty-six percent (46%) disapprove.

HAPPY FREAKING FATHERS DAY!

JellyToast on June 21, 2009 at 9:24 AM

Obama’s polls are down! That is proof he’s not god! If he was god he would have kept his freaking polls up! And on Father’s Day of all days!
Throw a party and burn a wiener! Obama is not god!! I’m feeling better about judgment day all the time!

JellyToast on June 21, 2009 at 9:27 AM

These are the same people “Liberals” that made a big deal out of Bush reading a book to children while his security got put into place on 9/11, and he addressed the Nation….anyone see the slightest bit of hypocrisy here?

Dr Evil on June 21, 2009 at 10:03 AM

“Emperor Obama, the Iranian peasants have no freedom.”
“Let them eat frozen yogurt.”

jgapinoy on June 21, 2009 at 10:04 AM

Because clearly its inapproriate for the President to eat dairy treats when somewhere — anywhere — in the world there is unrest. He should not smile, have fun, or spend time with his daughters until the lion walks with the lamb paw in paw.

dcwvu on June 21, 2009 at 10:06 AM

you have no idea what the president has done with his time on the Iran situation, so you should stop applauding a childish twitter-shopped pile of sh1t that means nothing, and just stfu.

Dave Rywall on June 20, 2009 at 7:15 PM

Sorry, Sheetrock, but you had absolutely no idea what the evil Bush was doing with his time dealing with stuff when he was in office, but that didn’t stop you from getting your getalifes in a bunch and whining about him for 8 years.

Payback’s a bitch, isn’t it? And remember, kid, dissent is
patriotic

We’re just holding O’bama to the same standard you BDS college kids held Bush to for the past 8 years.

Payback’s a getalife, isn’t it?

I am probably one of the most conservative guys here who does not like BO at all but I also don’t like people who disparage Canada.

garydt on June 21, 2009 at 12:49 AM

I have been living in Toronto for the past two years. There is something very unsettling that runs beneath the Canadian politesse. They dislike America and blame us for everything from smog that blows across Lake Erie to the usual whacko hit list (racist cowboys who bomb brown people and rape the natural resources). Before the world got involved in the US elections, substitute Republican for American, and you get the gist of the Canadian sentiment. The world resented us for being the best and never letting them forget it.

The rapture reference really got your idiotic point across. Do you not realize “peace in the Middle East” rests on the outcome of this “unrest”? We are not meddling but showing a young generation (since Saddam killed their parents) that freedom is something we support and worth fighting for.

This is possible regime change from the inside. Sarkozy made a statement: “We stand with the Iranian people, and today the Iranian people are in the streets.” Although his wife is a supermodel, he saw fit not to use his family in a staged photo op while the Iranian youth fight for liberty.

alliebobbitt on June 21, 2009 at 10:38 AM

Because clearly its appropriate for General Custard to eat dairy treats after cutting and running away from a MAJOR issue.

Given the hard-hitting journalism on the coverage on what is going into the president’s pie hole, I can’t wait for the tweets on coverage on the other side:

“Obama has well formed BM. Three wipes. No smell!”

msidders on June 21, 2009 at 10:42 AM

Fight and die, I should say.
