I’m curious, though — is this Obama’s “My Pet Goat” moment?

I just played some Metal Gear Solid 4 on the playstation for a few hours. Am I as rotten? I had some Jamba Juice earlier…is that bad? I don’t quite see the anger here.

Were you elected to be leader of the free world and restore moral authority to that office?

alliebobbitt on June 20, 2009 at 9:39 PM

The guy didn’t even bother to photoshop the times of the twitters to at least give the impression that the events happened at the same time.

Dave Rywall on June 20, 2009 at 8:08 PM

Stick to searching for a viable liberal movement in Canada, Dave. We’re busy explaining to American voters that the content of a politician’s character is more important than the color of (half of) his skin, which was the only reason anyone voted for this Muslim dickeater.

We had a political commentator who coined that phrase, but apparently our liberals don’t know what it means. Give us a couple more years to educate them.

Meanwhile, try to understand that O’Bonehead’s critics are only dramatizing his complete and utter lack of judgement and leadership during these remarkable events in the militant Muslim theocracy of Iran. I’m sure you’re torn, just like O’Bonehead, but try to envision yourself on the side of citizens crying for the freedom to have a voice in the government of their own country.

I know – it’s a radical idea.

massrighty on June 20, 2009 at 9:42 PM

There are plenty of reasons to be outraged about Obama’s presidency, however this isn’t one of them. Any outrage about this is well earned deserved by the fawning and CBS and Knoller for both bias and vapidity and should be appropriately directed to them.

Dear Obama Apologist:

The filthy liar in the White House went on a photo-op this afternoon. Why, somewhere among ordering ice cream and getting pup pops couldn’t he have said something about what was going on in Iran???

The White House has ice cream so this was clearly a media event to remind the world on Father’s day weekend that the bastard has two spoiled brats and a puppy at home. Why couldn’t he have given some comment about people dying on the streets of Iran? I’m not talking about him sporting a green wrist band but some measured response to show that he is aware there is more going on in the world on June 20th for the POTUS to be concerned about than hot fudge and toasted almonds. He comes off looking weak and disconnected from reality.

But again, it would have been a non-event if the media didn’t report such triviality as news. Certainly Obama is an annoying narcissist who has and will continue to do horrible things to this nation on every level imaginable. However, incidents such as this are only possible because of a complicit, fawning media. The vestiges of the responsible media tend not to report these trivialities except in the context of “look at these fawning media myrmidons who are abdicating their journalistic responsibility and have lost all integrity”.

It is a scorpion and frog scenario wherein Obama is the scorpion and the fawning media is the frog. I just look forward to the day they get stung.

deepdiver on June 20, 2009 at 9:46 PM

Obama was dragged kicking and screaming to make a tepid announcement of support for the revolutionary cause one week later. When he finally did…

The Iranian government must understand that the world is watching. We mourn each and every innocent life that is lost. We call on the Iranian government to stop all violent and unjust actions against its own people. The universal rights to assembly and free speech must be respected, and the United States stands with all who seek to exercise those rights.

As I said in Cairo, suppressing ideas never succeeds in making them go away. The Iranian people will ultimately judge the actions of their own government. If the Iranian government seeks the respect of the international community, it must respect the dignity of its own people and govern through consent, not coercion.

Martin Luther King once said – “The arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends toward justice.” I believe that. The international community believes that. And right now, we are bearing witness to the Iranian peoples’ belief in that truth, and we will continue to bear witness.

This is the twatbungle who gave the Queen an iPod with his own speeches downloaded on it. “The Iranian people will ultimately judge the actions of their own government.” Do you think they might be judging their government right now and finding it wanting? Then bringing up his own speech in Cairo and Dr. King in the next breath. This guy is a bona fide megalomaniac, batshit crazy, and I’m terrified of him.

alliebobbitt on June 20, 2009 at 9:49 PM

Barry should go out for ice cream more often, at least 5 or 6 times a day.

Obama IS weak and disconnected from reality. It isn’t just an appearance.

He pulls this crap because the fawning media fosters it and reports it as news. Obama is a narcissistic jerk who is constantly enabled by the media’s abdication of journalistic principles and responsibilities. As I said, there are plenty of things about which to excoriate Obama, I just don’t think this is one of them. Crux Australis on June 20, 2009 at 10:01 PM

Pres.Obama is stuck between Iraq and a hard place (Iran)>

He cannot support what the citizens of that country are doing because to do so would be to admit that President Bush was right when he said that by establishing and supporting a democracy in the ME, more people in the region would see it and want it for themselves.

He cannot openly support the existing regime because his obvious sympathies with Islamic rule would be exposed.

As for the ice cream trip and photo op, it doesn’t surprise me. He is all about the facade and has none of the depth a president should have.

Jvette on June 20, 2009 at 10:03 PM

If anything this is more a testimony of how lame the media is. If they weren’t so far up his butt they’d probably realize there is more to report or “Tweet” about than ice cream at this time.

DarkKnight3565 on June 20, 2009 at 10:10 PM

What an incredibly stupid, pointless and meaningless “story”.

Perhaps, but I love that the right, if AP can be considered right, can do a bang up job of impugning obama. You think you lefties did a job on Bush? Ha. By the time obama’s term is nearing its end, he’s going to wish he had never been born. And the American people are going to detest him with a passion. 2012 won’t come fast enough for America.

We learned how to play the game now. We know how propaganda works. We took lessons from you guys. We are playing by your rules, and we are going to win.

Thanks for playing.

If the opponents of the filthy liar remain silent when he pulls this crap, then the forces against this nation have won. Obviously, our nation will not fall on the weight of a waffle cone and this isn’t reason for the Congress to open impeachment hearings. But it is reasonable to point out that while Iran was burning and videos of the brutal deaths were in the news, the filthy liar in the White House was out on the town buying pup pops.

Obama opens himself up for such characterizations when he takes his kids out for photo-ops like today’s How many other children cost the taxpayers thousands of dollars jsut to go out and get ice cream? They are spoiled. The hands of the kids thing goes out the window when the filthy liar in the White House uses them as props as he did today. You’d understand that if you weren’t such a freakin’ tool for this administration.

It doesn’t matter what they are standing up for.

They are standing up – the act itself (in the face of overwhelming force of arms) is an act that promotes freedom.

Unless you believe that they are protesting that the current regime is not repressive enough, of course.

Michelle Obama spoke to Americans on the campaign trail about necessary sacrifices while letting slip the cost of their daughters’ ballet lessons. Underprivileged minority students that were set to attend the Obama girls’ exorbitant private school had their vouchers yanked at the last minute as a lame pander to the teachers unions. When the Obamas were invited to dinner at the Palais Elysses with Sarkozy and his wife while our President was in France remembering D Day, Obama snubbed our allies and took the daughters to a fancy Left Bank bistro for a photo op slash B Day dinner. That’s why they’re spoiled.

alliebobbitt on June 20, 2009 at 10:26 PM

1000 times worse than Katrina. Impeach now, heck Joe Biden can’t do any worse and we would lose the Obama hype.

Well, do we want the incompetent one who would fail while trying to do what he saw as the right thing…or the competent one that is trying to bring our country down?

Presuming we make gains in 2010 in congress this is just the question we might face.

But if their great desire was for fair and free elections they would have protested when the Supreme Leader was handpicking the candidates for whom they would be allowed to vote. Certainly, if they were truly democrats that would not be carrying around images of Moussavi, who while prime minister was not shy about putting to death those who opposed him.

They knew the game was rigged when they walked on the playing field. I think a lot of them are angry because they thought the game would be rigged in their favor, but I don’t think any of them thought they were going to get a fair and free election.

I have a copy of 0bama’s schedule:

9:30 – Rise and shine
10:30 – Breakfast and watching US Open
11:30 – Watch MSNBC, CNN for ego-boosting kudos from the lapdog media.
12:30 – Lunch
1:30-3:30 Skateboarding with Tony Hawk
3:30-4:00 Announce another big socialist program
4:00-5:30 Grilling with Bobby Flay

I am not so sure about that. It seems to me that something has changed here. It could be that they thought they had some say in all this. Perhaps not as much as they wanted, but enough to put up with it..and then when they could not even have that little input, picking one guy over the other..it seems they decided enough is enough. I doubt very much that these young people would be risking their lives for no reason. It seems to me they are trying to make their voices heard in the only way they know how.
Terrye on June 20, 2009 at 10:37 PM

Some might be. Others might just be Moussavi loyalists. In which case even if they win it wouldn’t be long before they took to the streets again, except next time to chant DEATH TO AMERICA.

Remember, Moussavi is no friend to us, to the West, or to Israel for that matter. Ahmadinejad called for Israel to be “wiped from the face of the earth”; Moussavi, whose name these glorified protesters are chanting, called for Israel to be “annihilated”. Some difference.

These students aren’t calling for the overthrow of their theocratic system, are they? They may be calling for a recount between Ahmadinejad and Moussavi, but they aren’t calling for an election in which any Iranian citizen can have his or her name on the ballot. Perhaps – if we are very, very lucky – it will come to that. But that doesn’t seem to be happening now nor is there is any guarantee that it ever will.

Nothing of Importance Happened Today
From the diary of King George III of Great Britain, July 4, 1776.
dogsoldier on June 20, 2009 at 8:04 PM
OK, it’s NPR, but if you take their word for it, King George 3 never kept a diary:

I wonder if the folks at NPR are bright enough to know that in 1776 there wasn’t television or telephones, heck FDR wasn’t even President then.

King George wouldn’t know what happened on July 4th for several months as a ship would have to sail, Really sail, across the Atlantic to give him the news.

DSchoen on June 20, 2009 at 10:59 PM

ever notice how democRATs ALWAYS call murderous anti-american dictators by their honorifics like ’supreme leader’ or ‘president’ (castro) they NEVER call them what they are…murderous thug dictators…

If you’re trying to make yourself look stupid, mission accomplished.
Would you like a link to a video of McCain calling that a$$hole “supreme leader”? Would you now? Just let me know.

Your claim is baseless and conveniently avoids mentioning that Republicans call foreign leaders/figures by their conventional titles. But that kind of garbage is normal from you.

I’m glad Obama is a good father on Fathers Day weekend. This is more neocon selective outrage where if Obama does anything but cry and wring his hands, he’s not taking things seriously. This line of argument has never worked for you, and it will fail again because the MSM won’t pick up on your constant whiny cries of victimhood. You guys should seriously get out more and be happy — in fact, try some ice cream.

dcwvu on June 20, 2009 at 11:11 PM

Oh and another thing Dave, could you link all the posts that you made on Leftie sights chastising them for their derision of President Bush? Look forward to reading them.

Thanks,

Our dear leader is who we thought he was,…..
GO ahead and crown him! He is who I thought he was… a big pussy!! He worships at the alter of moral relativism and buys into the “I’m OK- your OK”, self esteem based pop- psycho- babble. He can’t criticize the Irano-facist…that would be admitting we are some how morally superior. Allah Forbid!

All we need to do is be LESS aggressive, maybe have a drum circle and a group hug. The Mullahs just didn’t have enough love as children. What would Elmo do?

highhopes on June 20, 2009 at 11:23 PM

Do you think they might be judging their government right now and finding it wanting? Then bringing up his own speech in Cairo and Dr. King in the next breath. This guy is a bona fide megalomaniac, batshit crazy, and I’m terrified of him.

CWforFreedom on June 20, 2009 at 11:27 PM

You cannot possibly be so stupid as to believe that Obama hasn’t been briefed a great, great great deal already. But then again, maybe you are, just like all the other soggy pantsed outrageheads around here.

Dave Rywall on June 20, 2009 at 7:19 PM

And Bush was getting briefed on Katrina a “great, great great deal”, but this didn’t stop you libtards from saying he did nothing. What’s your friggin’ point?

Fed45 on June 20, 2009 at 11:30 PM

Seriously, i despise Obama, but isn’t this a little silly? It was silly when the dems went nuts over this kind of thing, and it’s silly when ‘we’ do it as well. So Obama went for ice cream while a crisis is going on somewhere – oooh, horrible.

C’mon, guys.

Midas on June 20, 2009 at 7:21 PM

What is silly is while Iran perishes, this idiot feels that there is nothing better to tweet about than Obama going for ice cream. I think that is the whole point of this story.

1 Bush remaining in the classroom to read the book instead of bolting to deal with the situation at hand was an amazing display of incompetence.

2 Again, get a hold of Obama’s schedule, and make a Hotair post about each and every appointment/meeting/lunch that upsets you. It’ll be awesomely stupid.

Hey, what’s another pathetic photo-op by this classless TOTUS?

The deficits are skyrocketing
The dollar is plunging
Interest rates are rising
Inflation is rising
Unemployment is nearing 10%
NK is ready to lob a nuke
Iran is burning

But who is really keeping count? All that matters is that our Dear Leader gets his ice cream, followed by slobbering tweets by his poodle the press.
